Vance Nevada has been involved in the wrestling industry for sixteen years, primarily in Canada (due in large part to two five year bans from the U.S. when apprehended at the border for wrestling in the States without the appropriate visa). During his career he has had the opportunity to work with a number of great wrestlers and promoters from coast to coast including the Honky Tonk Man, Jim Neidhart, Tatanka, Robert Roode, Don Callis, Tony Condello, Emile Dupre, Michelle Starr, and more.
Away from the ring he has been an avid historian of the wrestling business and has recently written a book chronicling the history of the business in western Canada. WRESTLING IN THE CANADIAN WEST chronicles more than a century of pro wrestling in the western half of the country, featuring a promotion by promotion rundown, statistical ratings (based on a directory of more than 17,000 live events), stories from the wrestlers themselves, and other features. The book, being published by Crowbar Press, will be released in the spring. A website is currently in development at: http://vance.jeffdoc.com
In addition to these projects, Nevada has also been an active advocate/mentor for the industry and has worked to instill a respect and appreciation for the craft among the up and comers in our business. Through this work, he hopes to constructively direct the future generation of our business to acknowledge tradition and to approach wrestling as a business to ensure that wrestling will live on. Some of the recent material released in relation to this has been posted online at: http://ontariowrestlingsindyelite.com/articles/articles_owievance.html
