IN THE RING
Matt Hardy + ECW World champion Mark Henry (w/Tony Atlas): Matt Hardy said since he has been in some of the most extreme matches in WWE history, he thought he would be a natural fit in ECW. Matt talked about his opportunity to face Mark Henry for the ECW championship at SummerSlam. Tony Atlas & Mark Henry came out and bragged about Mark beating the Big Show and Kane for the ECW World title. Tony Atlas asked what Matt Hardy has done since being drafted, adding that Matt lost the United States title. Mark pulled out a steel bar and bent it into a U-shape. Tony pointed out that the bar will bend, but Matt will break. Matt said that they weren’t having a bar-bending contest at SummerSlam, they are having a wrestling match. Matt said frying pans and steel bars don’t fight back, but he (Hardy) does fight back. Matt said that Mark Henry will never break his spirite, and predicted that he will become the next ECW champion.
Ricky Ortiz defeated Chavo Guerrero w/Bam Neely by DQ: The match ended in a DQ after Bam Neely interfered. After the match, Bam Neely attacked Ricky Ortiz and Chavo Guerrero delivered a frog splash! Evan “Air” Bourne appeared out of nowhere to make the save!
Mark Henry & Tony Atlas + Colin Delaney: Colin Delaney asked why Mark & Tony left him last week when he was wrestling Tommy Dreamer. Tony said they were giving Colin a chance to prove himself, and that he had to do something impressive to roll with them. Colin asked for another opportunity, so Tony asked him to soften up Matt Hardy tonight!
TAG TEAM MATCH
John Morrison & Mike “The Miz” Mizanin defeated Fit Finlay & Hornswoggle: Fit Finlay wrestled most of the match protect Hornswoggle. Late in the match, Hornswoggle tagged himself in and was promptly finished off by John Morrison. After the match, Mike Knox jumped out of the audience and kicked Finlay in the face! Knox then went after Hornswoggle, but caught Finlay reaching for the shillelagh and threw another stiff boot into Finlay’s face!
Lena Yada & Mike Knox: Mark Knox said that Fit Finlay has gone soft, and around here soft makes you a target – and I just took my shot!
Matt Hardy & Braden Walker: Braden Walker (formerly known as Chris Harris in TNA) wished Matt Hardy luck tonight and sarcastically called Colin Delaney a “killer.” Braden Walker assured Matt Hardy that he would watch his back tonight. Matt asked “what’s your name again?” and Braden introduced himself. They shook hands and Braden walked away.
Matt Hardy defeated Colin Delaney: Mark Henry & Tony Atlas, who promised to stand in Colin Delaney’s corner, watched the match from the stage. Matt Hardy toyed with young Colin Delaney for a while before putting him out of his misery with a Twist of Fate. Mark Henry & Tony Atlas walked down to the ring and Mark picked up Delaney and Gorilla-pressed him over the top rope! This was a clear message sent to Matt Hardy.
