IN RING SEGMENT
The show started off with Matt Striker in the ring. Striker welcomed the crowd to NXT, and hoped everyone had a good new year. He said that Darren Young and Derek Bateman would square off one on one tonight; he then welcomed Michael McGillicuty back to NXT. McGillicuty came down to the ring and Striker talked him up and then went for a handshake but Michael brushed him off and said that he has arrived. He then went on to say that his show sucked and how he remembers this show gave him absolutely nothing, but he went on to jump John Cena and become part of one of the greatest factions of all time, the Nexus. He also said that he is a former WWE Tag Team Champion, but he didn’t accomplish it because of this show, he accomplished them because he does what he wants and no one will be able to stop him. Then Alex Riley’s music hit and out he came with a microphone he said that it was great to be back on NXT and he said that he was glad to see Striker but he wishes he could say the same of McGillicuty. Riley continued by saying that joining a group and jumping someone doesn’t get you respect getting it done in the ring is how you get it. Riley then challenged McGillicuty to match and the two then begin to brawl as a referee got into the ring.
Alex Riley defeated Michael McGillicuty via pin fall: Riley won with the Final Score.
Derek Bateman was standing backstage talking with Kaitlyn about how Maxine is crazy and how he loves that. Now though she is too crazy and he is done with it and that he needs to move on and no weeping or crying and no more dream journal. Kaitlyn said that was the Bateman she wanted to see and that he really needed to get rid of the dream journal. The two talk about how it will be a clean break when Maxine and Johnny Curtis come up to them. Maxine brought up Aksana, and Bateman said that he still doesn’t know what she’s talking about. The two argue some more and then Derek said that when Curtis and Maxine’s relationship blows up he wouldn’t be there when she comes crawling back. Maxine said that she would never crawl back, and then said that after crossing her he would get what was coming to him. Maxine then kissed Curtis passionately. Maxine and Bateman then walk off in opposite directions. Johnny Curtis then said ‘sup to Kaitlyn and then asked if she wanted to see his van.
