=====================================================================

Before the guys officially welcome Slick to the show, Blade does a little singing of Slick’s theme song (“Jive Soul Bro”), with The Big Mosh then bringing aboard “The Doctor Of Style” to the show.

The Mayhem Crew mentioned that Slick will be a part of the Ballpark Brawl VIII event (log onto www.BallparkBrawl.com for the show’s official lineup & how you can get tickets) next Thursday afternoon/evening in Buffalo, NY (the hometown of “Your Home Of Wrestling Radio”) on the 23rd of August, and also announced that there will be a special European Rules Match (with the two competitors TBD) that night — with three special judges (including Slick, The Mayhem’s very own Big Mosh, & one interesting name to be announced in the days ahead).

Slick started things off by saying that it has been a long time since he has been in the New York area, but that the fans will indeed know & recognize “The Doctor Of Style” when they see him.

Blade & Mosh switched gears up a little, and brought the fans back to the afternoon of WrestleMania 23 in Detroit, MI. While The Mayhem was doing their live countdown special from The Hilton Garden Inn, the rumors were swirling around downtown “Motor City” that Slick would be a part of the epic “Showcase Of The Immortals.” Well, the WWE did not disappoint, as “The Doctor Of Style” himself, along with Extreme Expose, Eugene, “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes, Sgt. Slaughter, Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, and many others (including The Fabulous Moolah & Mae Young) all left the live crowd in attendance @ Ford Field & those watching at home on Pay-Per-View in stitches! Slick was very glad to be a part of the event, as it marked the 20th anniversary of WrestleMania III at The Pontiac Silverdome…the largest crowd ever to witness a professional wrestling/sports-entertainment event. Out of everybody who participated, Slick said that (besides himself) nobody danced better than Moolah & Mae.

Mosh & The Angry Hero mentioned how the art of managing in the business has been lost over the past five-ten years, and how it seems there was more of a connection to the talent when Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, “The Mouth Of The South” Jimmy Hart, Slick, & others were at the helm. Looking back on his career, Slick is extremely proud to say that he was the first African-American manager in WWE history. When people talk about him still to this day, Slick truly believes that the fans refer to him as a person who knew what he was doing and made those who attended the events “get their money’s worth” that particular night.

Is a full-time return to the WWE in the deck of cards for Slick. According to him…”never say never, and anything s possible.”

Blade then asked a question from The Mayhem’s official chat room, asking exactly what is a “Jive Soul Bro?” Slick replied that a “Jive Soul Bro” is “a good-looking, hip, wealthy person on top of his game…like the good Doctor himself.”

The reason Slick originally left the WWE from his full-time duties was because he went on to become a reverend. Slick told The Mayhem Crew that “the good Lord was indeed calling,” and that call he had to answer.

The Big Mosh, The Angry Hero, & Chaz (The Mayhem’s original co-host w/Mosh, who made his triumphant return to the program, after a three-year absence) asked Slick what advice that he could give the fans who are thinking about “leaving the flock” (so-to-speak) after all of the recent tragedies & passings in the business over the past year. Slick said that news writers & on-air television personalities (such as Nancy Grace) cover what they do and give their opinions on controversial issues (ex: wrestling) because they are simply paid to do it. What happened to Chris Benoit & several of the other former stars in the business occurred because of the choices that they made in their lives, and that wrestling (as a whole) will persevere.

All of this goodness & more can be found in this near 30-minute interview on The Mayhem: including Slick’s memories of what it was like teaching “The Ugandan Giant,” Kamala to bowl, managing his stable of wrestlers to successful careers, tag team wrestling now vs. in the ’80’s/’90’s, & a stellar/fitting end to the interview — Goodnight…the party’s over…”The Doctor Of Style” at his finest wrestling fans. He’s back!

*Slick, along with many other stars of past & present (including Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, Bret “Hitman” Hart, Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart, Vader, Lex Luger, “Cowboy” Bob Orton, Dustin Rhodes, Tatanka, Tito Santana, “The Model” Rick Martel, The Beverly Brothers, Traci Brooks, Tammy “Sunny” Sytch, Francine, So-Cal Val, Danny Davis, & others) are going to be a part of next weekends’ Legends Of The Ring convention in Carteret, NJ. If you have not already done so, log onto www.LegendsOfTheRing.com, and make your reservations to be at this huge event!

*In addition, this past week’s live edition of The Mayhem featured an exclusive interview with former WWE superstar/former WCW World Heavyweight Champion — the man they call VADER, who gave his thoughts/takes on the issue of steroids & performance-enhancing drug in professional wrestling, the passing of Bryan Adams, his legendary feuds again The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, & Sting, making the move from Japan to WCW, why he came back @ Taboo Tuesday two years ago, what he has been up to since retirement, his recurring character on the hit ABC show “Boy Meets World,” and some pretty interesting remarks directed to the way of one Mick Foley. One of the most outspoken interviews that you will EVER hear, courtesy of “Your Home Of Wrestling Radio.”
