Hulk Hogan and WWE were synonymous for a more than a decade. In 1984, the muscular marvel catapulted WWE from a territory in the northeastern United States to a global phenomenon. The Hulkster reigned as WWE Champion for most of the ’80s, standing tall next to Mr. T following their victory at the inaugural WrestleMania, bodyslamming Andre the Giant in front of 93,173, hosting “Saturday Night Live,” and gracing the cover of Sports Illustrated.

The refined gentlemen in the WWEClassics.com office have been rewatching old WCW shows as a profession for years and we’ve stumbled upon more than a few dopey moments we can’t believe we missed the first time around. Hulk Hogan discusses his match with The Rock at WrestleMania 18

hulkhogan16Source:  LordsofPain.net

In an interview with Fighting Spirit Magazine, Hulk Hogan sheds light on original plans for his match with The Rock at Wrestlemania X-8 in 2002.

“Out of respect, I go down there (to Miami), and there’s me and The Rock  and his dad Rocky Johnson, and Pat Patterson,” said Hogan. “The Rock  starts telling me that we’re gonna lock up, and do this and do that,  then start getting some heat on me, and so on. So he talked through the  whole match, and I was listening. I respect him, and it kinda made  sense, but I’d never done that before. Then they go, ‘Okay, let’s have  the match here.’ I said, ‘Whoa! You’re talking about me taking bumps in  this ring, with no people? I’ll get hurt, and if I fall wrong one time,  then my career is over.’ I’ve got to have the energy of the crowd, so  that when I go down, I go down to the mat hard. So instead, we just  walked through the match.”

David Dexter reports that Hulk Hogan recently appeared on Busted Open Radio. Here are the highlights…

On Hulk’s knee and overall health: “Thursday was a month, so a month and two and a half days for the old knee replacement, so I think I’m doing good. I saw some other wrestlers that had some knee replacements done and around the same time, I feel like Tarzan here all of a sudden, they said they weren’t even going to be able to walk around for eight or nine weeks, so I’m a little bit ahead of schedule. The weird thing is, now I got two new knees, two new hips; after eight back surgeries my backs fixed, I think I should be getting a title shot pretty soon. The oldest Heavyweight Champion of the world.”
