M.V.D. – Most Valuable Divas – Week of December 15, 2013

MVDOWW Women’s Wrestling Columnist Eric Holt chooses his M.V.D.- Most Valuable Diva(s) of the week, based on television matches, promos, and/ or segments.

This week, I had a bit of a hard time choosing this week’s Most Valuable Diva. So many girls from WWE and TNA impressed me this week in their own way. With that said, this week’s edition of Most Valuable Diva will feature many WWE Divas and TNA Knockouts that stood out to me:

AJ Lee successfully defended her Divas Championship against Natalya at TLC. AJ looked as though her reign as Divas Champion was going to end after Natalya escaped out of the Black Widow and attempted to lock in the Sharpshooter. However, WWE’s resident crazy chick managed to get Natalya with a roll up and successfully defend her title. AJ’s had a long reign as Divas Champions, and she’s coming closer and closer to becoming the longest reigning Divas Champion in history.

M.V.D. – Most Valuable Divas – Week of November 10, 2013: Natalya and AJ Lee

On this week’s Main Event, AJ Lee put her Divas Championship on the line against Natalya. Natalya earned this championship opportunity after defeating AJ in tag action a couple weeks ago. There was great back and forth action between both women throughout the match. Natalya showed a lot of aggression, and AJ pulled out a couple of flashy moves, which she rarely does as a heel. The ending saw AJ getting disqualified after Tamina superkicked Natalya. Natalya won the match, but AJ retained the Divas Championship despite being DQed. After the match, AJ locked in the Black Widow on Natalya, making Natalya scream and cry in pain.

M.V.D. – Most Valuable Divas – Week of November 3, 2013: Nikki Bella & Cameron

MVDOWW Women’s Wrestling Columnist Eric Holt chooses his M.V.D.- Most Valuable Diva(s) of the week, based on television matches, promos, and/ or segments.

Just when you thought Brie Bella was the only diva that’s been showing signs of improvement, two other divas step in and show that they have been bettering their wrestling craft as well. The two divas I’m talking about? Nikki Bella and Cameron.

M.V.D. – Most Valuable Diva – Week of October 27, 2013: Summer Rae

MVDOWW Women’s Wrestling Columnist Eric Holt chooses his M.V.D.- Most Valuable Diva(s) of the week, based on television matches, promos, and/ or segments.

It may be Fall, but that doesn’t mean that Summer won’t make its presence felt, that is, if your name is Summer Rae. At Hell In A Cell, Summer Rae competed in her first main roster/PPV match when she teamed up with Fandango in mixed tag team action against Natalya and The Great Khali. The match was mainly centered around Natalya and Summer Rae due to their ringside altercations weeks prior to the PPV. In the end, it was Summer Rae that picked up the win after a roll up on the third-generation diva.

M.V.D. – Most Valuable Diva – Week of October 13, 2013: Tamina

MVDOWW Women’s Wrestling Columnist Eric Holt chooses his M.V.D.- Most Valuable Diva(s) of the week, based on television matches, promos, and/ or segments.

Tamina made a statement this week! On Monday Night RAW, Tamina competed in a singles match against Brie, a match that was booked by Stephanie McMahon and favored Tamina since only AJ was allowed to be at ringside. The leather-wearing bodyguard put on a great match against Brie Bella. When it looked as though Tamina was going to lose the match, Tamina countered the Bella Buster and nailed Brie with a huge big boot for the win. After the match, Tamina gave Brie a post-match beat down that gave AJ the perfect opportunity to lock in the Black Widow to add more salt to Brie’s wounds. STATEMENT MADE! I was impressed with Tamina’s performance on RAW. She picked up a win over Brie in a match that made her look like a dominant force to be reckoned with. I also felt that Tamina’s alliance with AJ shined on RAW as well, especially during the post-match beat down on Brie. When I originally say Tamina and AJ together as allies, I had my doubts about it and did not think it was going to work out. However, I can honestly say that I was wrong. Tamina and AJ’s alliance has been a lot better than I expected. Tamina as AJ’s bodyguard gives her more TV time, gives her a chance to show off her wrestling skills more often, and adds more depth to her heel character.

M.V.D. – Most Valuable Diva – Week of October 6, 2013: Stephanie McMahon

MVDOWW Women’s Wrestling Columnist Eric Holt chooses his M.V.D.- Most Valuable Diva(s) of the week, based on television matches, promos, and/ or segments.

Stephanie McMahon was in full Boss Lady bitchiness mode on RAW during her segment with Big Show. She began by calling out Big Show for his inexcusable actions at Battleground. From there, she insulted him by calling him worthless, heartless, soulless, and a poor excuse for a human being. Stephanie went as far as even throwing it up in Show’s face that her and HHH saved him from being evicted and did everything they could for Big Show. Big Show laughed and made a joke out of everything Stephanie was saying, but at the same time, he got serious with her when he called her out for telling him to knock out Daniel Bryan. Things got really heated between the two when Big Show called Brad Maddox Stephanie and her (to quote Big Show) her “son of a bitch” husband, prompting Stephanie McMahon to slap Big Show multiple times (OUCH!) and fire him. Although Stephanie was hoping Big Show would leave crying, he instead left laughing. Mission accomplished Stephanie? I don’t think so. In all seriousness, I was in love with this segment. This is the Stephanie McMahon that I remember watching from the Attitude Era days. Stephanie was such a bitchy boss, and it made the segment that much greater. She knows how to intimidate and put people in their places. It is always great for me to see Stephanie back on WWE TV, even if it is for a once in a while appearance. Ever since she has been on TV more often, I have been entertained by her bitchy, boss lady heel character that she plays to perfection. She completely owned Big Show throughout their entire segment with each other, and everything about Stephanie’s heel character was spot on, from her bitchy facial expressions to her mic skills. Stephanie’s Bossy Lady bitchiness and her segment with Big Show are why she is this week’s Most Valuable Diva.

M.V.D. – Most Valuable Diva of the Week: Brie Bella

MVDOWW Women’s Wrestling Columnist Eric Holt chooses his M.V.D.- Most Valuable Diva(s) of the week, based on television matches, promos, and/ or segments.

Brie Bella has been on a roll these past couple of months with how impressive she has been in the ring and with her character. This week on Monday Night RAW, Brie continued her shine when she picked up a win over Divas Champion AJ in a ten diva tag team match. Despite the shortness of the match, Brie was impressive during the time she got to compete, and in my opinion, she was the standout competitor in the match. Although it seemed as though WWE was leaning more towards Natalya challenging AJ for the Divas Championship, Brie’s victory over AJ may now cause a change in plans. Brie also was part of a backstage segment with her twin sister Nikki and boyfriend Daniel Bryan’s current rival Randy Orton. During the segment, Randy insulted Daniel Bryan and told Brie she needs a “real man” aka Randy Orton. Brie stood up for her man, calling him a real man and champion, showing that she was not going to back down from Randy or be intimidated by him. That segment was absolute GOLD in my eyes. Brie brought a lot of personality and character to this segment, and I loved how she stood up for herself and Daniel Bryan against Randy Orton. She looked and sounded like a strong woman.  With Brie’s noticeable improvements, her clean win over Divas Champion AJ, and her real-life relationship with Daniel Bryan coming into play, the possibilities for Brie are endless. Will we see her challenge AJ for the Divas Championship? Will she play a role in the Daniel Bryan/Randy Orton/WWE Corporation feud? Either way, Brie is bound to receive a push in the near future.

Come back next week to see who will be the Most Valuable Diva of the week.

Did you agree/disagree with my pick for M.V.D.? Who do you think should have been this week’s M.V.D.? Give me your thoughts in the comments section below, or tweet me your thoughts @_ericholt_ .

AJ: On RAW, AJ shocked Kaitlyn and the WWE Universe when she revealed to them that she set up the “secret admirer” thing. AJ went on to explain why she did it: Kaitlyn was busy chasing the Divas Championship, while AJ was busy getting her heart broken. The resident Crazy Chick got into Kaitlyn’s mind, causing Kaitlyn to break down.

This week’s nominees for M.V.D. are:

The Bella Twins: The Bella Twins were in tag team action on RAW against Divas Champion and the birthday girl Natalya. After ducking out the way of Kaitlyn’s spear and causing her to spear Natalya, Brie Bella got the win for her and sister Nikki. Adding insult to injury, The Bella Twins decided to sing their own rendition of “Happy Birthday,” which included them calling Natalya a LOSER! The Bella did a great job displaying their bitchy heel characters, but they could have displayed better wrestling skills during the match.

Kaitlyn: Kaitlyn teamed up with Natalya to take on The Bella Twins on RAW. Kaitlyn and Natalya looked as though they were going to win, but after accidentally spearing her own partner, Kaitlyn cost her and Natalya the match. Sorry Kaitlyn, but I don’t think Nattie wanted a spear as one of her birthday presents.

Natalya: In her hometown of Canada, Natalya celebrated her birthday. Going into RAW, Natalya hoped that her birthday was going to go well. Her birthday started off well after her boyfriend Khali sang her “Happy Birthday.” However, things took a turn for the worst during her tag match, where she teamed up with Kaitlyn to take on The Bella Twins. When partner Kaitlyn was going to help Nattie by spearing Brie Bella, Brie ducked out of the way, and Kaitlyn accidentally speared Nattie instead. Brie got the win over Natalya. After the match, Natalya was left in tears after The Bella Twins called her a LOSER while singing their own rendition of “Happy Birthday.” Well, at least there’s always next year for a better birthday.

*I apologize for the lateness of this everyone. I got caught up with starting college a couple of weeks ago. To make up for the two weeks of MVD columns I didn’t do, I am going to do them both in this one post.*
