One of the people most important to Trish Stratus‘ development in and out of the ring is being recognized by the wrestling industry this year.

On Wednesday, the Cauliflower Alley Club announced that Ron Hutchison would be receiving the first ever CAC Trainer’s Award as part of their annual Honorees.

“I couldn’t be happier for Ron for receiving this honor,” Trish said. “From day one, Ron treated me with respect as a female in the ring, but also never took it easy on me. I was always treated as one of the boys and that’s what made me stronger and toughened me up for the professional ring. I’ll forever be thankful to him for giving me the foundation on which I built my career. I left the nest ready for the big leagues!

“Congratulations Ron, I can’t think of a more deserving trainer for this recognition.”

Along with Trish, Ron trained several of pro wrestling’s elite athletes, including Edge, Christian, Gail Kim, Beth Phoenix and former TNA Knockout Traci Brooks. A former performer himself, Ron is best remembered for his time in Grand Prix Wrestling and also appeared for WWE in the mid-1980s. Ron also has been the promoter for the Apocalypse Wrestling Federation.

Ron will receive his award at the 49th anniversary reunion, taking place June 2-4 in Las Vegas.

The Cauliflower Alley Club, which has been in existence for decades, is one of the most recognized organizations for retired pro wrestlers. Among other activities, the CAC has provided over $40,000 in grants to retired wrestlers, referees and others in the business who are in need after their days in the ring are over.
