WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT NEWS

4/5 ECW TV results from Pittsburgh, PA: Evan Bourne over Tyson Kidd; Kozlov over Jesse; Christian over Mark Henry via DQ; and Jack Swagger & Mark Henry over Tommy Dreamer & Christian.

Umaga vs. CM Punk will be officially added to Judgment Day on Smackdown this Friday night…  The arm wrestling segment we noted on Monday also takes place on the show between Lalya and Eve.

WWE signed April Jeanette, 22, from New Jersey, to a developmental deal after she attended the FCW evaluation camp this past weekend. She is the better half of Jay Lethal and of late had been wrestling for National Wrestling Superstars and Women Superstars Unleashed. She has a unique look (I believe one of her parents is Puerto Rican) and is a breathe of fresh air from the blond big-you-know-what bikini models. In a new shoot interview with RFVideo.com, Bob Holly, who was released in January, talked in detail about his firing. He blamed Ken Kennedy saying he took some pain pills from Kennedy’s bag at a show and Kennedy ratted him out to management. Subsequently he was removed from television and released. Holly threatened in the interview that if he ever crosses path with Kennedy again he will beat the hell out of him.

Story on the city of Jacksonville, FL at http://tinyurl.com/dy3k5l putting in a bid for a Wrestlemania between 2012-2014 at the Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. Mike Bouda, Jacksonville Economic Commission’s sports director, said he believed with the proper adjustments counting field space it would be possible to seat a crowd of 90,000.

Jim Ross in his latest blog at http://www.jrsbarbq.com/blog insinuates Dave Batista is looking for a pay rise amid recent talk of retirement.
Ross wrote: “Been reading where Batista ‘may retire’ in a year or so but I’d bet that won’t happen. Unless Batista has saved a boat load of cash I say he stays in WWE and makes more of those big pay days and seven figure years. Big Dave likes the good life, who doesn’t, but the ‘good life’ isn’t facilitated with coupons. Dave’s value to WWE, considering especially the overall lack of main event depth may never be greater. I know I thoroughly enjoy my paychecks even thought I feel I’m underpaid (who doesn’t?) and hope to successfully negotiate a new contract with WWE when the time comes later in 2009. Hey, we ALL feel like we’re under paid, right?”

Silvervision in the UK at http://tinyurl.com/cett5m posted match listings for the upcoming DVD Allied Powers: The World’s Greatest Tag Teams.

Speaking of The World’s Greatest Tag Team, Shelton Benjamin was in the corner of Charlie Hass at the Smackdown tapings. It appears they may have already pulled the plug on the Hard Knox Connection.

Alicia Fox, in her new role, is shaping up to be Michelle McCool‘s sidekick.

Indie wrestlers Josef Von Schmidt and Fred Sampson had a try outs with WWE last week at Madison Square Garden.

The 5/1 edition of Smackdown did a 1.9 rating, back up from last week’s scary 1.6.

12 Rounds with John Cena now stands at just over $15 million gross in theaters worldwide.

OK! Magazine at http://tinyurl.com/cf6sw2 has a story on Sherri Shepherd talking about all the “pent up sexual frustration” she has for MVP. She also talked about a finishing move she has come up with called the ‘booty pop drop.’

WWE.com at http://tinyurl.com/cjmpju posted footage from MVP’s appearance yesterday on The View.

Cyber Sunday will be held in Pittsburgh at Mellon Arena on 10/25.

The Slam Wrestling website at http://tinyurl.com/d8or25 has a story on former WWE official Dave Hebner. He said he still loves Vince McMahon but pretty much ripped on John Laurinaitis for his (and brother Earl)
firing: “Vince was real good to us. He paid us good money, big money.
There was nothing to complain about. He loved us. I know he did. But he didn’t fire us; John Laurinaitis fired us but Vince had to tell him to fire us so John L. went and told Vince, ‘I don’t want the Hebners there.
It’s probably me or the Hebners, you know.’ That’s the way it goes sometimes.” The Hebner’s were fired from WWE in 2005 for allegedly selling merchandise without permission although many believe that it was a smokescreen to cut ties with the brothers.

Jim Duggan wrote a blog at http://tinyurl.com/de8r9o talking about how much fun he had at Wrestlemania and described an altercation with Mickey Rourke at the WWE hotel in Houston.

TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION WRESTLING NEWS

Jim Ross also calls out Jeff Jarrett in his latest blog. He wrote: “Read a review of the new Jeff Jarrett DVD. I’m sure it’s good but some folk’s recollection of history never ceases to amaze me. Jeff remembers things differently than I but it is his DVD produced by his company about him so he’s certainly not going to make himself look bad. Who would? Lots of water has gone under the bridge since those days and it certainly isn’t a major issue one way or the other and perhaps I’ll tell my side of the negotiations in question some day. I would suggest that all involved might have had dirty hands in that matter but I can assure you that I didn’t break my word in dealing with Double J. My old job back in the day was challenging and every decision wasn’t easy. Such is life.”
