WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT NEWS

6/11 Superstars TV results: Beth Phoenix & Rosa Mendes over The Bella Twins; Evan Bourne over Zach Ryder; and Chris Jericho over John Morrison (this was an awesome match).

6/11 Raw house show results from Prague: Goldust over William Regal; Maryse over Kelly Kelly; The Colons over The Legacy; Kofi Kingston over Matt Hardy; Big Show over MVP; John Cena over The Miz; and Triple H over Randy Orton.

The Raw crew runs tonight at the Belgrade Arena in Serbia, followed by The Arena in Nimes, France on Saturday.

Smackdown are back on the road on Saturday night at the Broome County Arena in Binghamton, NY followed by Giant Center in Hershey, PA on Sunday. Edge and Christian have been pulled from those shows. Rey Mysterio is still listed at press time although nobody really knows his status. Also, Jeff Hardy was in the hospital yesterday but is expected to make the shows.

TV next week has the tri-branded three-hour Raw from the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, and the Smackdown/ECW tapings from the Coliseum in Roanoke, VA. We’re looking for reports from all of these shows to [email protected].

Smackdown tonight has Dolph Ziggler vs. Khali; Michelle McCool & Layla vs. Melina & Eve Torres; Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas vs. John Morrison & R-Truth; CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho in a non-title match; Ricky Ortiz vs. Jimmy Wang Yang; and Jeff Hardy vs. Edge. The Hardy-Edge match is said to be especially good.

The Rise & Fall of WCW DVD is in the can. Details have just been sent to distributors so we should have more information in the next few days.
Its a 3-disc set, documentary, plus over 20 matches and extras.

The World title match for Raw this coming Monday in Charlotte has been changed to a three-way with C.M. Punk vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Edge.

The Raw from Green Bay, WI on 6/22 will apparently air with no ad breaks for the full two hours. Not sure what they have planned yet.

Dave Batista’s website reported that his biceps surgery on Tuesday was a success and he is now recovering back at home in Tampa. WWE.com so far hasn’t posted any footage or pictures of the surgery like they usually do. Another unusual thing is that when surgery takes place in Birmingham, AL under Dr. Andrews normally guys remain in Birmingham for however long it takes to rehab.

Jim Ross at http://tinyurl.com/l7pjtt posted a new blog. On Lilian Garcia, he wrote: “Lots of questions regarding WWE seeking a female, ring announcer/singer. This doesn’t mean that Lilian Garcia is going any where but media company’s like WWE are never NOT looking for new announce talents. I do not know what Lilian’s long term professional or personal goals are but I have not heard any thing but good things about her work. We all know she can damn sure sing. Who knows, perhaps Lil is looking to cut back on her road schedule. She’s in Prague as I write this.” Ross also noted that he recently talked to The Undertaker who is targeting early autumn for a return to the ring following hip surgery.

Adelitas Way and Rev Theory will perform a free concert before The Bash in Sacramento, CA outside the Arco Arena on 6/28 at 2pm.

Following the TV tapings on Tuesday there was a dark match in a cage with CM Punk & Jeff Hardy over Chris Jericho vs. Edge. After the match a fan tossed a soda at Jericho but it missed and security took him down NCAA-style. The fan was arrested and led away.

TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION WRESTLING NEWS

6/11 Impact TV results from Orlando, FL: Consequences Creed & Alex Shelley over Team 3D; Samoa Joe over Scott Steiner & Booker T in a first blood matches; AJ Styles over Shane Douglas; Tara (Victoria) over Madison Rayne; and Kurt Angle over Sting in a King of the Mountain qualifier.

TNA are back on the road this weekend starting tonight at the Civic Arena in St. Joseph, MO. They also run the Mid America Center in Council Bluffs, IA on Saturday and the Firstier Events Center in Kearney, NE on Sunday. Three matches confirmed are Abyss vs. Matt Morgan; Awesome Kong vs. ODB; and Suicide vs. Daniels vs. Homicide. Kurt Angle is expected back on the tour with Scott Steiner, Sheik Abdul Bashir, Beer Money, Inc., Eric Young, Lethal Consequences, and more. The announced line-up so far for Slammiversary on 6/21 is Mick Foley vs.
Jeff Jarrett vs. AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe vs. TBA vs. TBA in KOTM for the TNA title; Suicide vs. Jay Lethal vs. Consequences Creed vs. Alex Shelly vs. Chris Sabin in KOTM for the X-Division title; Team 3D vs. Beer Money, Inc for the tag titles; Daniels vs. Shane Douglas and a Monster’s Ball involving Abyss, Raven and a few others TBA.

TNA Epics that airs in the UK tonight on Bravo features a ‘best of’ the Knockouts division with the gauntlet to crown the first-ever Knockouts champion from Bound For Glory 2007; Awesome Kong vs. Gail Kim from a January 2008 edition of Impact; plus the first-ever Queen Of The Cage match from Lockdown 2008.

MMA fighter Frank Trigg at http://tinyurl.com/kjj95q said he was talking to TNA about coming in before he signed a four-fight deal with UFC: “…
hopefully in the future once I’m retired from MMA and I’m full-time out of the sport, and ready to move on to something else, I can move into full-time pro wrestling.”

Tickets for the UK tour in January went on sale today at www.gigsandtours.com. Confirmed for the tour is AJ Styles, The British Invasion, Daniels, Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle, Scott Steiner, Abyss, Suicide, Team 3D, Motor City Machineguns, Matt Morgan, Awesome Kong and Beer Money, Inc.

Due to a UFC Ultimate Fighter marathon, Spike will not be airing the replay of Impact on 6/20. The replay will air instead on 6/19 at 2am.

ROH are giving away tickets to the next set of TV taping next weekend in

Diamond Dallas Page is giving a speech tonight at the Howard Fine Acting
Studio, 1445 N Las Palmas Ave, Los Angeles.

Paul “The Butcher” Vachon, 71, underwent reconstructive jaw surgery on
Tuesday. He is currently hospitalized in Sherbrooke, Quebec. The
operation follows radiation treatments he had a few years ago for throat
cancer. Vachon’s wife Dee said that doctors removed bad jaw bone and
replaced it with a piece from his shoulder. An email address has been
set up where you can send well wishes at [email protected]. Vachon is
the father of Luna Vachon, Damien “Pitbull” Vachon, and Pierre “The
Beast” Vachon, and is the brother of Maurice and Vivian Vachon and
former father-in-law of David Heath (Gangrel) and Tom Nash, who wrestled
as Apocolypse in Stampede Wrestling and WCW.

As we reported yesterday, Nancy Benoit’s parents are suing Dr. Phil
Astin for the wrongful death of Nancy and Daniel Benoit. The Associated
Press at http://tinyurl.com/ng7yqp picked up the story noting that
Maureen Toffoloni, Nancy Benoit’s mother and administrator of her
estate, is also seeking damages from the drug distributors identified in
the suit as X, Y, and Z. Apparently they don’t know who they are yet.
Irv Muchnick, author of the forthcoming book Chris and Nancy: The True
Story of the Benoit Murder-Suicide and Pro Wrestling’s Cocktail of Death
wrote an interesting article at http://tinyurl.com/lnk43r and also
posted the 15-page complaint at www.muchnick.net/toffolonicomplaint.pdf.

Chuck Palumbo and his band 3 Spoke Wheel are playing at the Bakersfield,
CA Thunder Run Bike Show on Saturday.

Hulk Hogan was at the Magic-Lakers game last night in Orlando. During a
break in play he walked on court and did some pose downs which popped
the crowd. Golfer Tiger Woods was also at the game. Hogan went up to
shake Woods’ hand but he hadn’t noticed Hogan behind him and jumped out
of his skin when turned around and realized Hogan was towering over him.

wrestling, politics, his book and more. He noted that the only person he
still keeps in touch with from his wrestling days is his old tag partner
in Portland, Steve Strong, now an artist in Hawaii.
