Kane vs. Great Khali was just added to Summerslam. There were originally plans to bring back the punjabi prison match for their program.

The Miz debuts a new look tonight.

There is once again talk of Ric Flair returning soon.

Variety Magazine at http://tinyurl.com/q3v5mc has a story on WWE bringing in celebs to guest host Raw, and essentially becoming a new talkshow circuit. Stephanie McMahon is quoted and says that the plan is to continue with guests hosts possibly up to WrestleMania 26. “For right now, it’s really working and clicking,” she said. “But it’s just the beginning.” She said that upcoming celebs booked for Raw include Bob Barker, Rev. Al Sharpton, Nancy O’Dell, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and LeBron James. WWE is also in negociations with Pete Wentz, Ashlee Simpson, the Osbournes, Danny DeVito, Regis and Kelly, Jimmy Fallon, Rachael Ray, MC Hammer, Woody Harrelson, Serena Williams and Ashton Kutcher. She added:
“We’re letting them feel safe with the PG environment. By bringing in the celebrities, we’re saying, ‘If it’s OK for them, it’s OK for you too.'”

The company is also talking to Trish Stratus about doing the guest host gig at the September 14 Raw in Toronto. Speaking of which, Wrestlemania
27 in 2012 is heavily rumored for Toronto, although we are a long way away from an announcement.

Jeremy Piven’s The Goods bombed at the box office. The movie did a $5.3 million opening this past weekend which was the same as 12 Rounds with John Cena earlier this year.

Edge started in rehab this week for his surgically repaired Achilles tendon. He is targeting the Royal Rumble in January for a return, although Wrestlemania 26 is perhaps more realistic at this point. We’ve heard from friends of his who say he is determined to come back as soon as he physically can.

Rey Mysterio was given last week off for a family vacation to Hawaii.

Jim Ross at www.jrsbarbq.com wrote in his blog today that he received an email from Dr. Death Steve Williams: ” … and apparently cancer has returned to once again challenge my dear pal. Cancer returned to his Stoma and Doc has been undergoing chemotherapy treatment which is the only way this matter can be addressed. I truly admire Doc’s faith and his believe in God not to mention the mental and physical toughness that this former wrestling great possesses. If you have it in your heart to help us raise funds to purchase a hands free, talking devise for Doc, please check out www.wrestlersrescue.org. Doc has some limited wrestling engagements upcoming and is still working for Southwest Airlines at the Denver Airport. As someone whose family has been affected by the evil scourge that is cancer, I feel for Doc and all that he is going through.
I wish him all the best in his fight.  I already know he is tough enough to win it.”

Mickie James at www.nzpwi.co.nz talks life in WWE developmental, TNA and Trish Stratus. She says it bugs her when pretty women get involved in pro wrestling without really having a passion for it: “The worst thing in the world is to watch bad wrestling. You know? So they can be the most beautiful women in the world, but if they can’t wrestle then it means nothing. They go out there, and it’s just like… ugh. Like, it’ll turn the biggest wrestling fan away, it’ll make them change the channel.
So it’s important… that’s why we’ve really worked hard with the girls to be the best that they can be. You don’t have to be the best in the world, just be the best that you can be. And everybody’s stepped up their game, and everybody’s working hard and everybody’s continuously trying to get better and better… and that’s important, because if you truly love what you do, you would want to be the best that you can be.”

Bryan Alverez reports that an underground steroid network in Egypt was broken up last week. The network branded all of their drugs with a photo of Dave Batista flexing his biceps.

Steve Austin will be on the cover of an upcoming edition of Muscle And Fitness.

A funny or perhaps delusional note. Steve Keirn, who heads WWE’s developmental program in Tampa, attended the NWA Legends fanfest last weekend in Charlotte. During a conversation in front of a group of people, including one of our readers, he said that UFC was a flash in the pan promotion and they would be out of business in a few years.
Seriously.

TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION WRESTLING NEWS

There was a talent meeting a short time ago where Dixie Carter announced a new three-year deal with Spike TV.

Simon Rothstein and myself at http://tinyurl.com/mmt6ek have a story on the Kurt Angle arrest, including a statement from Kurt’s attorney where he declares Angle’s innocence. The attorney claims that Trenesha Biggers (Rakka Khan) made up a fake protection order because she was mad that Angle dumped her. Angle’s court date scheduled for Tuesday has now been moved to September 15 and another date in October so he can work the TV tapings this week. Today’s Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has a big story noting that Angle was released on a $10,000 bond and wrestled on Sunday.

TNA’s stance on the situation is “no comment” however an updated AP story note that TNA rep Steven Godfrey said that the company has a drug policy in place for all employees, but declined to release any details.
I know they do test for steroids and recreational drugs sporadically but their policy and punishment for a violation has never been made public.
The bigger issue here is the alleged assault. Most companies in any line of business would not allow their employee back to work unless they clear their name through the legal process.

Before the PPV last night all the TNA talent were told that under no circumstances should they talk to anyone about the Angle situation.
Well, you know how that goes. Taylor Wilde, who wasn’t at the show, wrote on her Twitter this afternoon: “Just arrived in Orlando! Can’t wait to see all the Knockouts, but not because I’m a stalker or anything…” A few hours later she wrote: “Wow, that inside joke got blown out of proportion. Its not what you think it is, trust me.” Well it was what you think, and she got caught out. Worse still she hasn’t deleted the messages.

Angle didn’t make the cut for ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. The line up for the ninth season was announced today on Good Morning America, including former UFC fighter Chuck Liddell, Donny Osmond, Melissa Joan Hart, Mya, Michael Irvin, Kelly Osbourne and Aaron Carter. Liddell said in a statement today: “I want to win. I don’t like losing in anything, so I’ll work as hard as they’ll let me. I’m gonna go out, be myself, and show what kind of people we do have in this sport… I’m sure the reaction will be mixed. My friends are gonna be excited and I’ll never hear the end of it because they’ll make fun of me, but it should be fun and I think everyone will like it.” The show premieres on September 21 at 8pm.

Some people have been told that Jeff Jarrett will eventually return just as a wrestler and won’t have any say in booking.

Former agent Pat Kenney (Simond Diamond) was offered his old job back, but he turned it down. He is currently part of a class-action lawsuit against his former school teacher, a priest, who he alleges sexually assaulted him and many others as a child.
The Dayton Daily News at http://tinyurl.com/kjvfvf has a story on Lisa Marie Varon. The story notes she has a non-restrictive TNA contract which allows her to do MMA. Her manager says she wants to fight Kim Couture next year.

There is someone pretending to be Scott Steiner on a Christian dating website in Calgary. There is a profile up complete with photo claiming to be a 49-year-old man looking for a local Christian girl.

OTHER WRESTLING NEWS

Jerry Lynn suffered a severe stinger on Saturday night at the ROH TV tapings. Feeling eventually return to his limbs, and he was taken to a Philadelphia hospital for follow up. X-rays were negative, but he is still suffering from tingling in his hand and lower leg and will be seeking further medical evaluation this week.

Ashley Massaro‘s leg surgery is Tuesday. A plate in her leg dislodged and caused an abscess.

Former WWF wrestler Damien Demento has a message for pot smokers at http://tinyurl.com/ry9qco.

In Japan this past week, Hiroshi Tanahashi vacated the IWGP title due to suffering a broken orbital bone against Shinsuke Nakamura, and Mexican Lucha star Mistico defeated Tiger Mask to win the IWGP Jr. title.
