The ABC news affiliate in Pittsburgh ran a story this morning on Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger hosting Raw next Monday. When asked whether he knew about Roethlisberger’s upcoming TV appearance, Steelers coach Mike Timlin said: “I’m aware of it. I just don’t have a comment at this time.” He didn’t sound amused.

OTHER WRESTLING NEWS

Ric Flair‘s original NWA “Ten Pounds of Gold” title belt that he wore
from 1981-85 during the Jim Crockett Promotions era is earmarked for
auction next week. This was the belt used before the “Big Gold” NWA
title was introduced in 1986. Highspots.com who did business with Flair
when he retired from wrestling last year say they will put the belt up
for sale on eBay unless Flair pays them back money he owes from a
personal loan. Flair had given the company his belt as collateral on the
loan. He also owes a substantial amount of money to Ring of Honor for
personal appearance dates he was advanced that he pulled out of. The
talk among those in the collecting community, and this is based on two
expert opinions, is that the belt could fetch between $60,000 and
$100,000. Those we spoke to on the Flair side of things said that this
could become a legal issue if Highspots actually does put the belt up
for sale. They also said that a major point of contention is the extra
time Flair spent at the NWA Fanfest in August that he allegedly wasn’t
contracted or paid for, plus the sale of a Harley Race-Ric Flair Q&A
DVD. Organisers of Fanfest told us that Flair was paid an additional fee
for his extra time above the contracted rate. On a related note, Flair
recently parted ways with The Gillespie Agency who was handling his
bookings. The agency currently represents Roddy Piper and Mick Foley.

Marty “The Boogeyman” Wright is still MIA and a lot of people are
starting to worry about his well being. Booker T, who became one of his
best friends in the business, can’t reach him either after leaving
several messages.

The adventure travel show Stratusphere which features Trish Stratus has
been sold for international syndication. The show should air in the UK
and Australia at some point in 2010.

Best wishes and a speedy recovery to Buddy Wayne who underwent open
heart surgery earlier this morning. You can send him well wishes at
[email protected] and info on his wrestling school out of Everett,
WA can be found at www.buddywayne.net/.

Bay News 9 in Tampa ran a story today on Hulk Hogan noting he is back
living in his Belleair mansion despite it being up for sale, and that he
has no plans to move away from the area. He also talked about returning
to the wrestling ring and his book due out next month.

King V (Viscera) pulled out of the November Hulkamania tour in Australia
due to accepting a movie role.

SHIMMER Women Athletes will hold its 4th Anniversary Celebration tapings

JWA-United Wrestling run their first Halloween show of the season, this
Saturday, October 3 at the VFW Hall in Sayreville, New Jersey (across
from The Starland Ballroom) with a 7:30pm belltime.

Sean “X-Pac” Waltman is now accepting bookings through
www.WrestleBookings.com.

Waltman was a guest on the latest edition of The Interactive Interview
at www.WrestlingEpicenter.com. He talked about working for AAA in Mexico
noting working over there now is like working in the U.S. 30 years ago.
He said that a lot of the Mexican wrestlers don’t know how to put
matches together and don’t use any psychology . He says that the ones
that have made it internationally are talented and have long term
futures because they are able to adapt their styles. Talking about his
run in WCW, he says that the name “Syxx” was something that Eric
Bischoff came up with, but thought that maybe it had something to do
with Nikki Sixx from Motley Crue. Hanging out with Nash and Hall
eventually led to him renaming himself as Syxx-Pac. When talking about
drug use in wrestling, he says that it is definitely a huge problem. He
feels that there is a certain type of personality that is attracted to
wrestling. He personally feels that the WWE is doing a good job on their
drug testing. He said he doesn’t have a definite answer on his future,
but he would love to still work, and if he couldn’t wrestle any more,
he’d still be involved in the business in some capacity.
