  3. Wrestling Returns to Lawrenceburg

Lawrenceburg has always had a rich history when it comes to sports. Now, one sport that has taken a backseat will be heading to the new National Guard Armory.

On Friday, June 15, the Southern Superstars of Wrestling will be making their debut. Stars like former World Championship Wrestling Tag Team Champion Buff “The Stuff” Bagwell and southern legend “Superstar” Bill Dundee are scheduled to appear, along with “Hardcore Legend” Gypsy Joe; tag team great “Nightmare” Ken Wayne; and much more.

“For some time I have wanted to bring a top professional wrestling event to Lawrenceburg,” said promoter Tim Andres. “The roster for this Friday’s show at the Armory includes some of the top start of the past, the present, and the future.”

Andrews also wants to ease the minds of parents of this area. “I am committed to bringing family-friendly entertainment to Lawrenceburg. You can bring your children, your grandchildren, and even your grandparents to this show.”

“I am excited about the great lineup we’re able to put together for the fans of the area,” said matchmaker Rodney Grimes. “Buff Bagwell is truly one of the greats of our sport. He has headlined major arenas and pay-per-view events around the world.”

What about the fans of Memphis wrestling that we grew up on? Those fans will have a special treat according to Grimes.

“’Superstar’Bill Dundee, ‘Nighmare’ Ken Wayne and Gypsy Joe are all stars many of the long time fans will remember.”

But the fans of today’s wrestling matches will not be disappointed either.

“We have also signed some of the top Memphis TV talent,” continued Grimes, “like the Possee, some of the hot new talent like Ken’s son Eric Wayne.”

Many more wrestlers have been slated to be in attendance. The Singing Cowboys will bring their style of wrestling talent to Lawrenceburg. The powerful masked team, Fire and Flame, who recently appeared before thousands at the Staples Center in Memphis will make their Middle Tennessee debut.

Also featured on the card will be Chrisjen Hayme, Chris Rocker, “Impressive” Anthony Wayne, Super Destroyer, “Hollywood” Jimmy Blaylock, the Mega Man, and many more.
