AS I SEE IT: WWE vs. Conor McGregor Bob Magee Pro Wrestling: Between the Sheets PWBTS.com
Well…want someone to get attention for your event…and himself? Consider hiring Conor McGregor.
During Friday’s conference call to promote UFC 202 (and specifically his fight with Nate Diaz), UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor claimed he would never go to WWE, because:
“For the most part, those WWE guys are pussies, to be honest….they’re messed up p***ies, if you ask me. Fair play to Brock, he got in and fought, but at the end of the day he was juiced up to the f***ing eye balls, so how can I respect that?”
McGregor did say though that Triple H, The Rock, and the McMahons were “dons” so those are presumably the ones who aren’t p*ssies (note carefully not mentioning the people in charge…and The Rock).
Needless to say, WWE talent (not to mention the wrestling world in general) did not take kindly to his comments. Here’s just a sample:
Ric Flair: “Coming from a guy who built a career copying my persona, I expected the type of class we get from Ronda or Anderson” . Flair then followed up with “After Diaz finishes you again, I dare you to try guys like Dolph, Brock, or Fit….Oh, you’re welcome for your gimmick”.
AJ Styles: “I think McGregor could do well in the featherweight division……if the WWE had one.”
Chris Jericho: “Sorry pal no disrespect to u, but my fights are legit, unlike the fixed fights u have in the @UFC. I’ll embarrass u,”
Sheamus: “Never show a Jack Russell a mirror. It thinks it’s a majestic Irish Wolfhound. Really, just an annoying wee yapper trying to sell tickets.”
Big E: “Would you prefer to find us individually or have us all line up at once? I know your time is valuable, sir.”
Kurt Angle: “very funny little guy. Why don’t you get your head out of Dana White’s ass”
So…all this. Then there are wrestling fans, who responded with outrage too long to list…and hilarious memes ridiculing everything from McGregor’s size to his last loss to Diaz.
Guess what they all did, though? Brought up McGregor’s name. Not to mention how many of them will buy UFC 202 to see Nate Diaz submit McGregor or knock his head off. Wanna bet Dana White and the new owners of UFC are laughing, probably all the way to the bank, too?
But here’s the thing. Can you imagine…that this is all a nice big fat angle to promote not just UFC 202, but SummerSlam.
We’ll know that if in the next week or so, how about McGregor shows up ringside at RAW or Smackdown. At the very least, can you imagine those who are wondering if it’ll happen and tune in?
Remember, RAW and Smackdown will be competing with the Olympics for the next two weeks. Would you put it past Dana White, Conor McGregor, and Vince McMahon to have cooked this up to draw attention to both their products during the Olympics?
