WRESTLING COLUMNS

Teddy Hart Follow-up Column
November 30, 2003 by Mark Rose

I recently wrote an article that heavily criticized Teddy Hart and when you actually got deep into the content you got a clear understanding of why I did so. So now why a followup? Simple. This guy just doesn't quit with his stupidity and i'd like make sure he's exposed as the jackass that he is to as many people I can. Since my first column "Teddy Annis...Son of a Hart!" was posted he has almost topped the incidents I discussed in the stupidity and ego department. Also I have received some e-mail and occasionally when someone catches me online they ask me why I have such a personal hatred for Teddy Hart. I'd like to just start out by addressing that question.

By doing what Teddy did at that ROH show he put several wrestlers in danger. Some of those are among my favorite wrestlers in the world right now. He could have ended their careers by doing unplanned spots simply for the purpose of grandstanding. And another thing is with his conduct he shows a complete lack of respect for the wrestling business as a whole and i'm such a die hard of pro wrestling it highly offends me. Teddy Hart is a clown who does nothing but disgrace the Hart family name and he uses that name to try to take shortcuts in the industry rather than get by on his own merit. The sad part is he actually does have some talent and doesn't need to do that kind of stuff. Anyway let's get to why i'm really writing this.

Let's start by talking about Teddy Hart's recent auction on E-Bay. On November 14th he put his shorts that he wore wrestling for NWA TNA for auction on E-bay autographed at a cost of $1000.00 US. Yes you read that correctly. A wrestler who has had minimal exposure working a little bit in WWE's developmental system, on the indy circuit a bit, and worked a date for NWA TNA in front of maybe 20,000 fans total with the live and PPV audience thinks his damn shorts are worth 1000. I must admit I laughed hysterically when I found out about this auction not only at the concept but also at Teddy's ego that seems to have no limit. That's not even the best part. The auction ended on November 24 with a grand total of ZERO bids. Imagine my surprise. I'm glad nobody was silly enough to pay for those highly overpriced shorts. It's an ego deflation that Teddy so desperately needed. And no this whole E-bay auction thing wasn't made up and it wasn't a joke on my part. It really happened.

I certainly hope the shirt was wearing in the auction photos was a joke though. I don't think i've seen anything that hideous since Mae Young gave birth to a hand on RAW. Maybe I should hope Teddy sells something in his next auction so he can take that money and buy a new shirt.

On the very same day Teddy put his shorts up for auction he worked a show for Stampede Wrestling at the Sportsplex in Calgary, Alberta. Nov 14 would prove to be a day of double stupidity for Teddy as during the show him and Jack Evans ran in to make the save for their partner TJ Wilson in the shows main event and he got into an altercation with one of the fans in attendance. A fan was heckling Hart about his recent actions in ROH and Teddy got up in his face. There is speculation that the fan spit on him but this has not been 100% confirmed. Teddy acted as if he was going throw a punch, he stopped and then actually did land a punch on the fan. I know the kneejerk reaction is well if the fan spit on him then he deserved it. WRONG. DEAD WRONG. If the fan was a jerk and actually spit on him the professional thing to do is to have security escort the fan out of the building. You're always going to get jerks at wrestling shows and wrestlers are supposed to deal with this and act with a certain etiquette. If you're working at any job and someone spits on you, you don't just punch them. You deal with the incident the right way and have the person dealt with in a non physical way. What you don't do is put yourself and the company you are working for in a potentially liable legal situation. What Teddy did was the absolute dumbest thing possible. What if that fan was seriously injured? Stampede Wrestling and Teddy Hart could be sued for HUGE money. Teddy threw the first punch he'd be at fault. It's common knowledge in the wrestling industry that the only time it's acceptable to take physical action against a fan is when you are put in serious risk by the fan's actions. For example when a fan jumps over the guard rail and especially if they do so and enter the ring. Or of course if the fan actually strikes first and assaults the wrestler. In those cases it's self defense. Those type of situations do actually happen in the business unfortunately. Thankfully I can't think of any where a wrestler was seriously injured.

Now let's get to even worse. Teddy Hart recently did an interview for "The Interactive Interview" http://www.theinteractiveinterview.com . You can listen to the interview streamed from their site and you can also read the highlights of the interview on the site. I'm going to put up some of the "highlights" as well right here and comment on a few things he says like I did in the previous article.

Here we go:

Teddy's comment:

-- Teddy thanks Rob Feinstein for giving him the opportunity in Ring of Honor. He says that there were several wrestlers backstage that had prior heat with Teddy at the Ring of Honor show. He wouldn't say their name but he feels he is above "shit talking."

My rebuttal:

That's pretty funny Teddy that you would say you are "above" the shit talking and naming names since you did so in the interview I talked about in the last article. And you also did the same in this interview as well. Not a shocker coming from you Teddy you are proving yourself to be a bigger hypocrite each and every time you open your mouth.

Teddy's comment:

-- Teddy feels the cage match had absolutely no psychology but the incident that took place was after the match. During the match, Joel Maximo dropped Teddy on his head causing him a concussion. Teddy says he has no recollection of the moves after the match, but says he did a moonsault off the top of the cage to the concrete floor and landed on the "130 pound Mexican." He then went back up and did a shooting star press off the top of the cage into the ring, a move never done before in the history of wrestling, and the crowd went crazy chanting his name. He says what bothers him about the incident is the move was never put over on the Internet. Instead, the "boys" went on the Internet and reported that Teddy did something not planned and made a bigger deal of it than it was. He feels the same fans that went nuts for it when it happened now hate it because they are "smarks" and the boys had to tell them it wasn't planned and that it was bad and not that Teddy gave a little extra show at the end of the match.

My rebuttal:

No psychology? Well your opinion has certainly changed since the last time you talked about this match. Last time out you said it was one of the greatest matches in the history of pro wrestling. And back to the concussion excuse. You seem to be flip flopping on that one Teddy did you all of a sudden forget you put out a statement that you didn't blame the concussion for the incident? Stop crying about people's reactions to your idiotic grandstanding. It wasn't your job to give the extra show at the end. It was your job to sell the finish of the damn match. The show was about ROH not about Teddy Hart.

Teddy's comment:

-- Backstage, Steve Corino's girl was there. "I don't know what her name was. She looked like a street hooker to me. I'm being nice calling her a street hooker. She looked HORRIBLE!" Teddy says she made a remark about one of his friends being a "piece of shit or fag or something really nasty" and then Samoa Joe got into it and told his friend to "get the hell to the back." Teddy's friend, who he doesn't name, stood up to Samoa Joe and Teddy ran over to break up the fight. Teddy says that Samoa told him that since he put his hands on Samoa Joe, he was going to kill Teddy. Samoa also called himself the King of the Locker Room.

-- Ted doesn't care if Samoa Joe hears what he said because he is fearless and isn't afraid of anybody. If Samoa Joe kills him, he kills him. "So be it."

My rebuttal:

I'm so shocked by these comments i'm almost at a loss for words. Not into the shit talking. No not at all Teddy. I hope Corino or Samoa Joe kicks your ass for real for these comments.

Teddy's comment:

-- He feels it must be one of the boys who leaked a lot of the information and posted it him or herself because none of the fans were backstage to have seen it. He feels the people doing it are doing so because they have no business in wrestling in the first place because they aren't any good at it.

My rebuttal:

Wow Teddy that's a brilliant deduction. You missed your calling as a detective. No shit it was one of the boys that leaked it. It was a BACKSTAGE incident. I find it interesting that you feel that the person who leaked this information is no good at the wrestling business since you claim to have no idea who it was. How can you judge the talent of someone that you can't identify?

Teddy's comment:

-- There were rumors going around that Teddy decked a fan at a recent show. It isn't true. There was a guy going to a training school in the crowd and he wanted to be a part of the show so he approached Teddy and the fans dad grabbed his son and maybe it looked like Teddy shoved him but it wasn't the case. The fan wanted Teddy to strike him but Teddy wouldn't play along.

My rebuttal:

Well since there were SEVERAL reports of this incident sent in by fans in attendance at this show I guess they are all liars and there is one giant conspiracy to get Teddy Hart. It's really funny and interesting how Teddy always put himself in the innocent victim role. I find it amusing.

Teddy's comment:

-- He mentions that most fans don't know what psychology is. So, if all people want to do is trash talk him, he doesn't care because it all is publicity for him.

My rebuttal:

Well for once I agree with Teddy most fans don't know what psychology is. But enjoy the free publicity Teddy we all know that's why you are doing the stupid things you are doing. Keep it up and everyone in the free world will know what a self serving asshole you are.

Teddy's comment:

-- "Steve Corino is a jabroni. I saw him in the dojo in the WWF. He stunk then, he's worse now." He also says that Corino did nothing backstage himself and had Samoa Joe do all his dirty work for him.

My rebuttal:

At least Corino didn't get kicked out of the dojo for being an asshole Teddy. And jealousy of Steve Corino will get you nowhere. When was the last time you held titles and got international recognition like Corino? If you were half the worker Corino is or 1/10th the worker you think you are maybe people would actually respect you Teddy.

Teddy's comment:

-- CM Punk said nothing to Teddy. Teddy says he was too busy "trying to score pot backstage." Because of that, he finds it hysterical that "Puke" tried to say Teddy was doing the things that "Puke" was doing to "cover his tracks." He adds, "Why is he in the business anyway? Because he's a rip off of Raven?"

-- The four-page essay that "Puke" released on Teddy Hart was ridiculous and he feels he should have better things to do. Teddy hasn't been inspired to write something that long about anybody that influenced his life be it Stu Hart, Elvis Presley, Tupac, Bret, or anybody. So, thinking that "Puke" cared enough to write something that long "making sure to spell check every line" was flattering.

My rebuttal:

Here we go with the shit talking again Teddy. I thought you were above that? No instead you decide to accuse a man who is anti drug of trying to score pot as a cheap shot to get under his skin. And the fact you call CM Punk a ripoff of Raven is just absolutely hilarious since everything that the CM Punk character stands for is the exact opposite of the Raven character. That's why they have had such a great feud on the indy scene. Punk cared enough to write about you in his personal online journal because you pissed him off by disrespecting the company he works hard for. CM Punk is one of the best wrestlers in ROH and is also their head trainer and takes this matter very personally as he should.

Teddy's comment:

-- Teddy says that everyone knows the wrestling business has been good to his family and as a result his family enjoys reasonable wealth. He offers Steve Corino and "CM Puke" the opportunity to take advantage of that wealth and accept a first class plane ticket to Calgary for a real life shoot fight and invites Rob Feinstein to come along to film a "shoot interview" after the shoot fight with Corino and "Puke" after they've had their jaws broken.

-- The offer is only for those involved in the situation. He says to contact David Penzer and they will be glad to set it up for him. He adds that you'll enjoy first class service the entire time but may be sent home in a body bag.

My rebuttal:

This is absolutely hysterical. I've seen children on a playground act more mature than this Teddy. I hope one of them takes you up on that offer and sends YOU home in a bodybag.

Teddy's comment:

-- Another incident he wanted to discuss was a confrontation between he and AJ Styles. Teddy is very fond of AJ Styles. He flew him up for the Stu Hart Birthday wrestling event where Teddy faced Sabu and wanted AJ to be involved in Mat Rats. The incident that is being talked about is that AJ confronted Teddy about doing certain moves since they do share some common moves so out of respect, AJ asked that Teddy not do a move. One of the moves that AJ asked Teddy not to do was a "Spinal Tap." Teddy ended up doing the move because he didn't know that is what AJ calls it and AJ has never spoken to him since.

My rebuttal:

This is a very common practice in the wrestling business and you should have the had professional courtesy towards AJ to NOT do one of his signature moves. You were a guest at this show and AJ is a highly pushed regular. If you really respected AJ you wouldn't have done the move.

Teddy's comment:

-- Teddy says that Corino and CM Punk look like "pan handling bums" and need to hit the gym and quit hitting the McDonalds and start coming up with new moves instead of typing dirt sheets on the Internet.

My rebuttal:

Well in case you forgot Teddy they were only reacting to comments made by you in the interview I discussed in my first article about you. You were the first one who decided to hit the internet with the disrespecting and shit talking. They were only responding to you Teddy. You started it you MORON. And from where I sit BOTH of these men are in great shape and I bet you haven't worked a match that went over 90 minutes like CM Punk has, or for that matter worked consecutive nights with matches that were both 40 + minutes like CM Punk has.

Well i've made this column a lot longer than I wanted to. I hope you enjoyed the continuing exposure of what a moron Teddy Hart is and please feel free to send in any comments that you have. The conduct of Teddy Hart has been quite shocking and I hope this is the last time I feel the need to write about it. If he keeps it up though I won't stop. I want to make sure EVERYONE knows what an idiot this guy is so they don't actually think that just because he carries the Hart name that this guy has any class like some of the rest of his family.

Happy trails.....to you.......until....we meet.....agaaaaaain...

hahahaha

always wanted to end a column like that.....

Rebelatl:
I was at that match, and it truly was a great match. I went home happy then the next day I read all the crap on the boards and internet and I was dissappointed in the big deal made out of this event. I think it has been blown way out of proportion. If ROH was smart Teddy would be welcome back anytime. MLW will surely use him and he will sell tickets. I would much rather see Teddy Hart wrestle than Corino any day of the week.
Chris Rutledge:
I have to agree with you 100% on your words about Ted Hart, any fan who claims that match in RoH was anything but a "cluster-fuck" (can be edited if needed) is just on something. Ted Hart is a complete idiot and to try and cover up for it is just stupidity at its worst. Furthermore, I would love to see CM Punk (My personal favorite wrestler) kick his ass for being so stupid.
Rebelatl@aol.com wrote:
Well look likes the internet smart asses like yourself, were proven wrong. Teddy can wrestle in a fed without causing trouble. MLW went over well according to the reports.

When Teddy becomes a superstar one day, you will remember all the internet crap and say damn I should nt have listened to that.
Mark Rose response:
Apparently you don't read the same reports I read. Teddy had a backstage incident with Steve Corino. And even if he did have his attitude in check while working in MLW it doesn't change the facts of what the little shithead did before.

I sincerely hope Teddy changes his attitude because he has talent.

And don't forget the "internet crap" I quoted was from Steve Corino's website and CM Punk's personal online journal. So those are FACTS from the horse's mouth not the horses ass. Before you bash me as some kind of idiot who believes everything he reads on crap like Wrestlezone just remember I CHECKED my facts.

choke on that before you send me some sort of e-mail personal attack.
