WRESTLING COLUMNS
Right Down the Middle
Rest in Peace Classy Freddy Blassie

It has been awhile since my last post. I have had some things to do and my internet crashed. I almost have everything back to normal. Too bad the wrestling business isn't getting any better. Well let me get started this started.

There will come a time in every wrestling fans life where they will say to themselves "Hey I could do better writing" or "Hey I could do better than these guys". Well guess what. You couldn't carry HHH's jockstrap in a match let alone HHH. These guys are doing what they love and are busting their @#$'s every night trying to entertain us and make money. And as far as people saying they can do better writing I would love to see them in a production meeting with HHH, Johnny Ace, Brian Gerwitz, and Stephanie and see what they can come up with. I guarantee they will be blown away by the ideas that probably come out of those writers' heads.
Now I am in no way defending the poor writing that is coming from the creative team. The product sucks. But it is not like they are trying to kill off the WWE. They are giving us what they THINK we want to see. The problem lies with Vince McMahon. It is his choice to listen to our ideas or not. And Vince obviously chooses not to. If the WWE posted a message board on their website and asked for our feedback and ideas it would help them greatly and make it more enjoyable product for us the fans. Now I know they will have little kids posting some outlandish and ridiculous ideas but if they heard enough of the same ideas or something that was credible I bet they would use it.
And another comment that is going around lately is "Vince McMahon is ruining the WWE". Well folks wake up it is his company and he has the right to do as he wishes. I don't like the current product either but I don't get mad at Vince and say he's ruining his own company. Unless you have some financial gain from the WWE staying around you really shouldn't worry about it. It may knock out the only wrestling you have ever known but other companies will emerge such as MLW, CZW, and NWA TNA. And you will be able to see guys that have been waiting to break out for years but haven't been given the chance because of the WWE I wouldn't want to see the WWE defunct like WCW and ECW. However, if it happens what can you do" NOTHING. So stop worrying what Vince is doing with his own company. If he reaps the benefits from his company doing well then he must take the good with the bad and take the consequences.
For a little while it seemed as if they were listening to the fans by bringing back the IC strap. But that quickly folded when they gave the strap to Christian and when they had HHH vs. Kevin Nash 2 PPVs in a row for the World strap. I have nothing against HHH or Nash but for your first Single Brand PPV you don't want your main event to be pretty much the same thing that was at the last Joint PPV. You would want something that we haven't seen and that would encourage us to buy the PPV than to sit in a Yahoo! Chat room and watch it on a distorted webcam for free or even worse not watch it at all. This coming PPV is already looking like I will have plenty of opportunity to relieve myself in the bathroom. The main event has injury written all over it. Hell in a Cell HHH vs. Kevin Nash" Why would they be willing to take that chance with Nash who is just coming back from his quad injury and HHH's quad ready to go at anytime. And what's truly sad is that two guys way past their prime will be facing each other and that match WILL steal the show. Call me crazy call me stupid but that will be the BEST match on the card. If HHH and Flair can pull out a great match on RAW a few weeks back HBK and Flair will make a classic with this one.
If the WWE were smart they would have saved Goldberg for Bad Blood. But no they waste his return on a RAW that didn't mean anything and they waste his in-ring return on Backlash. Now in no way am I even close to being a fan of Goldberg. I despise the man but that's a different article different day. But having him come in at the first raw spilt PPV would have been huge. Had they promoted it right and set up a little program leading up to his debut instead of running vignettes of "Coming Soon" that would have been great for Bad Blood. Or even save the return of Kevin Nash until Bad Blood. They need something huge to spark an interest in the PPV then the matches will take care of themselves. Then people wouldn't have a poor opinion on a split brand let along split PPV.
That's it for this week and if you didn't notice I just took you "Right Down the Middle". I will be back with another article next week. E-mail me or get me on yahoo and msn messenger to tell me what you think, ask me questions or just to talk wrestling.
