A Mark for Himself
The current storyline involving Abyss and the magical effects of Hulk Hogan’s Hall of Fame ring is imaginative. You have to give it that at the very least.

It is also about the silliest angle since GLOW allowed one wrestler to instantly hypnotize opponents during matches and make them act like chickens, barking dogs or whatever else she fancied. In a way, the GLOW stunt was better; at least hypnosis is real.

It’s hard to see how endowing a Hogan souvenir into some sort of holy relic will help TNA. Hogan will no doubt enjoy the enhancement of his mythic status, but it isn’t doing a whole lot of Abyss or even AJ Styles as they mostly let the old guys carry the ball.

Our resident philosopher looks at Abyss’ transformation into the Monster of the Ring and other strange storylines on this week’s TNA Impact.

Abyss continued to be empowered by the faux-mystical energy of Hulk Hogan’s Hall of Fame ring. Mr. Anderson went after his first TNA title. All this and more on this week’s TNA Impact.

Abyss showed off the ring to several guys in the locker room. Abyss talked about the power of the Hulkamaniacs that flowed through the ring. That led to a recap of how Abyss was taken in by Hogan to reclaim the monster that he once was. Eric Bischoff was ready to unmask Abyss. He used several wrestlers to take out Abyss. Just as he was about to remove the mask, Hogan made the save. Hogan then gave his ring to Abyss.

This Week’s Episode: “Rage Over The RIng”

Mike Tenay and Taz quickly ran down the night’s card. A.J. Styles and Ric Flair came down to the ring. It was announced that D’Angelo Dinero had partially torn ligaments in his ankle. Styles went off on Dinero for trying to take over “The House that A.J. Styles built”. Flair “Whoo”‘d as Styles rambled about how great he was. Styles said that Dinero wouldn’t be walking for some time.

Hot on the heels of their huge announcement last week, Maximum Pro Wrestling (MaxPro) has finally announced their touring schedule for March and April.  MaxPro, the amalgamation of Canada’s two biggest independant wrestling promotions, BSE Pro and Border City Wrestling, will be travelling all over Ontario!
 
The inagural tour “March Break Down” starring TNA superstar “The War Machine” Rhino, takes place March 18th in Niagara Falls at St Antoine’s Hall with a 7:30pm belltime.  The following night, March 19th in Chatham, Rhino gores his way into the CAW Hall with a 7:30pm start time. Finally, Rhino’s path of destruction ends March 20th in Georgetown, at the West 7 Entertainment Complex for a 3pm matinee.

 In what should be a common occurance in the pro wrestling world, this past Friday we had a group of releases with the company. I have always criticized TNA for not releasing enough people. In fact, I still feel that I could book Impact if they released about 7-8 wrestlers.

This week WWE did some releasing of their own. I wanted to take time to look at these releases and what their possible futures may hold.
