Hodge enjoys attending the fan fests as he likes meeting up with wrestlers and fans.

Hodge talks about several different holds in wrestling. Hodge says that a professional headlock is “awesome”. Hodge  never had to use his holds in the ring to protect himself. Hodge mentions that they had challenges were people would have to last three minutes in the ring to get $5,000. No one ever lasted the three minutes!

The Kingfish Arnie Katz provides insight and analysis based on the 7/21 episode of iMPACT.

Dixie Carter’s announcement about Foley, Dreamer and friends, supposedly the centerpiece of the episode, didn’t come off very well, but a good but an appealing state of matches produced a fairly good, action-oriented program.

The last few TNA cards, including both iMPACT and the July PPV, have been unusually enjoyable. Part of the reason is the (temporarily) reduced roles of Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff.

The ratings have inched up slightly, o a little more than 1/1 during this period. That’s encouraging news for a promotion that seldom gets closer to “the next level” than talking about it incessantly. If TNA can add strong booking and exciting mic-work to the in-ring excitement, he company might really see some significant upward movement.

Let’s look at some of the things that happened on the7/21 episode….

As I mentioned, I was in Chicago this past week on vacation.

A shout out to a few folks along the way during my vacation… first, to the folks at Mother Hubbard’s Sports Pub in near North Chicago…to Chicago’s Kathy Fitzpatrick, Mother Hubbard’s owner (no, not the one you’ve read about in my column over the years), the 3 “Jens” behind the bar, and all the assorted regular customers and characters. If you travel to Chicago, are staying anywhere near the Loop, and prefer a neighborhood sports bar that isn’t a tourist trap, has killer Buffalo wings and like to relax and have fun….go to State and Hubbard…this may well be your place.

Here is a funny John Cena commercial for Gillette that is curentlt being distributed . These guys in the video thought they were going to a focus group about pizza but were ambushed by John Cena in the bathroom.

WWE’s John Cena gets ?ve men to shave their faces on the fly. Only three bathroom stall doors and two trash cans were destroyed in the making of the video.

The other day I was thinking about what Era of pro wrestling we are in, regarding World Wrestling Entertainment. If you ask most wrestling fans, there are a couple of Eras that WWE/WWF have gone through over the many years of its existence. The most common list are as follows:

The Golden Era: This largely refers to the Hulkamania Era. The era where Vince McMahon killed off the territories and brought him company into a national spotlight.

On Saturday, July 24, 2010 Wrestling for a Cause, Inc. presented SUMMER COLLISION 2010 benefiting Bullets Little League Baseball. The event was held at the Temple Terrace Recreation Center, 6610 E. Whiteway Drive Temple Terrace, Florida 33617. Attendance was 405.

New NWA Ladies World Champion Crowned

On July 24th in Lebanon, TN, MsChif defended her title against Tasha Simone. These two women battled all over the NWA Top Rope arena and then some, even going outside in the parking lot in a No Time Limit, No Disqualification match for the NWA Women’s World Championship.

As these two are no strangers to one another, a packed house of 225 people watched for 32:09 as these women brutalized one another back and forth. From being tossed down a flight of stairs to having their head busted open on a car hood nothing seemed to be out of reach for either competitor. Both women put everything they had into this match and then some.
