My TNA Notebook

The Katz Files – Arnie Katz
My Weekly (7/19) TNA Notebook

The Kingfish Arnie Katz provides insight and analysis based on the 7/16 episode of iMPACT</20.

The 7/16 edition of iMPACT built nicely from the action-packed excitement of Victory Road with two hours of sports entertainment excitement. The booking is still ragged, but iMPACT scored big if “fun” is the measuring stick.

And isn’t it an intriguing paradox that TNA has presented its two most compelling shows so far this year with Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff absent from the cameras.

Not having them there 8nvigorated the shows, improved pace and put the emphasis on the people who matter, the wrestlers. Things went so well, in fact, that Dixie Carter ought to encourage Hogan and Bischoff to develop lots more outside interests and to take as many vacations as possible, If they were gone often and long enough, TNA might actually come within hailing distance of that “next” level that obsesses TNA.

Let’s look at some of the things that happened on the7/16 episode…

AS I SEE IT: Promoting Wrestling 101

AS I SEE IT
Bob Magee
Pro Wrestling: Between the Sheets
PWBTS.com

I’m in Chicago this week on vacation, so a repeat of a column that seems to give at least a few indy promoters an idea each time I run it.

As most of you know, PWBTS.com, the flagship site of this column, focuses on coverage and promotion of independent wrestling. As someone who happily shills independent wrestling promotions whenever possible, one of the things that pisses me off is the way independent promotions seems to have no sense about the basic sorts of things that they need to do to promote their product. I’d like to offer some observations as to some of those things I think that promotions need to do to publicize their product online. I realize that some people may find some of the suggestions listed below to be painfully obvious, but trust me…they aren’t. All too many independent promoters don’t use some or all of these ideas. I’ve seen all too many cases where promoters don’t…well…promote… and crowds suffer accordingly. But that’s not all.

Jack, OIB and Barbie Richards are joined by Raymond Rougeau for this edition of In Your Head. Full audio available at http://www.InYourHeadOnline.com !!

Sunset Flip Presents: ECW One Last Night

Sunset Flip Presents
ECW One Last Night
By Jim Boy Star

I am very excited about the Hard Justice event coming up. It’s going to be a great night for all old ECW fans. Say what you will about TNA having ECW wrestlers doing a TNA version of “One Night Stand”, but also remember this is something these guys need.

The ECW wrestlers need this because after One Night Stand 1, the WWE completely buried and tarnished the “ECW legacy”. Even the biggest WWE lover should be able to at least agree to that. All the original were put out one by one. Now, for the first time, all the ECW guys (except 1 important one) are free from WWE and this is their “last night”.
