| What If? This forum opens up everyone's mind to ask the question "What if...?". "What if HBK went to WCW instead of Bret?", "What if Tony Schiavone didn't announce Mick Foley's WWF Title win on Nitro?", "What if McMahon bought the UWF instead of Crockett?" |

Ultimate Warrior may be regarded today as someone who didnt appreciate the business somewhat, yet in the early 90s there was no doubt he was the WWEs 2nd most marketable star right up there after the Hulkster.
When Warrior returned for his 2nd WWE run in 1992.... it was evident that Warrior had lost momentum..... Randy Savage, Undertaker and Bret Hart had overtaken him in the 'Facel ladder... whilst Warrior was demoted to a midcard fued with Papa Shango. It is rumoured that WWE presented Warrior with the option of turning heel..... which he shot down immediately. Obviously Warrior was worried about a heel turn affecting his merchandise, money and appeal to the kiddies fanbase..... but what if he agreed to it? As bad a worker as he was, it would have been very intriguing seeing Warrior become a bad guy...... his grunting, snarling promos were made for it.... and it would have been a big deal at the time, and moved him up the card.... likely into world title contention. Which faces could he have fueded with? would he have won the title back? What kind of evil things/stoirylines could have been devised for him? Lets also assume that Warrior wouldnt be fired for steroids (as he was just before Survivor Series 92), so we could give his heel run sufficient time. |

Oh, another Warrior conversation. Let me get in on this....
I think the Warrior turning heel would appeal to people with our mentality, as hardcore fans, who would appreciate that you could solidly boo a guy with no work ethic, and no in ring talent. He was WWF's 2nd most marketable, and I think that's the ONLY thing that kept him going as long as he did. I think the Warrior turning heel wouldn't have shot him into the spotlight, but rather given him a "jobber" place to put over other stars, such as Savage. If he had the heel persona, his senseless rants would have been more fitting, though. I do believe that if a heel turn happened with Warrior, he would have dwindled even faster, since the other marketable faces at that time had so much more in ring talent. It would have been easy to see someone like Savage, or Jake the Snake, or maybe even the Million Dollar Man outshine the Warrior in the ring, and have the fans backing them because they're competing against a "bad guy". I'm guessing Warrior WAS worried that a heel turn would affect his character, and he didn't want to be hated. It would have been cool if we were given the chance to see that. We might even have seen him cry. That would be something.

Warrior turning heel when he came back in '92?
Well, that likely would've meant that rather than dropping the strap to Yoko at WM IX, Bret would have had to drop it to Warrior, in which case I would have had to kill myself.

Hey, even at age...um...hang on...carry the two...yeah. Even at age 7 I was completely dedicated to being a Little Hitman, every mother's dream.
![]() Sorry, didn't mean to make this thread about Bret...(well...maybe I did. Screw Warrior). In all seriousness, I have to go against the idea of a Heel Hellwig. I just don't see the Warrior working as a heel...mainly because I don't think he'd know HOW to work as a heel. I don't really know how much training Warrior did/retained, but I mean...he was a very one-dimensional individual who couldn't sell to save his over-tanned steroid-laden ass. How could he possibly make a babyface look convincing? And for that matter, 9 out of 10 of his moves were designed to feed off the crowd. Without things like rope-shaking, sky-grabbing, or running to the ring at Wrestlemania V with a full-blown erection, what would the Warrior have left!? Crappy clotheslines and sloppy gorilla presses, both guaranteed to injure his opponent.
