Career Highlights

Prior signed to WWE, Joseph Ruud has competed in several independent promotions in both the United States and Japan.
In 2007, Joseph Ruud competed under the ring name Thoruf in Pro Wrestling Noah in Japan, where he competed in both tag team and singles matches, albeit without much success.
Following his tour in Japan, Joseph Ruud returned to the United States in 2008 and began competing under the ring name Thoruf Marius for the Minnesota-based F1rst Wrestling promotion.
Upon joining the promotion, Joseph Ruud began feuding with Broody Hoofer, with the pair exchanging wins across several events.

NXT:

In 2011, Joseph Ruud signed a developmental contract with WWE and was assigned to their developmental territory Florida Championship Wrestling.
Joseph Ruud made his FCW debut on April 14, 2011 under the ring name Erick Rowan, where he and Buck Dixon defeated the team of DeSean Bishop and DT Porter in a tag team match.
The following week, Erick Rowan suffered his first loss, as he, Bobby Dutch and Aksana were defeated by Derrick Bateman, Xavier Woods and Kaitlyn in a six-person intergender tag team match.
Erick Rowan later began competing as in the tag team division, where he and James Bronson competed in the FCW Tag Team Showcase Tournament. However, he and Bronson were eliminated in the quarterfinals by Epico and Hunico.
Despite this, Erick Rowan and James Bronson received a championship match against the Florida Tag Team Champions CJ Parker and Donny Marlow, but were unsuccessful in winning the title.
July 3, 2011 – FCW: Derrick Bateman and Kenneth Cameron defeated Erick Rowan and James Bronson.
July 31, 2011 – FCW: Erick Rowan (w/ Byron Saxton and James Bronson) defeated Kenneth Cameron.
August 7, 2011 – FCW: Leakee and Titus O’Neil defeated Erick Rowan and James Bronson (w/ Byron Saxton).
September 11, 2011 – FCW: Erick Rowan and James Bronson defeated FCW Tag Team Champions CJ Parker and Donny Marlow in a non-title match.
September 25, 2011 – FCW: Erick Rowan defeated Corey Graves.

After Erick Rowan and James Bronson’s team disbanded due to a lack of success, Rowan began a singles push in 2012 and found small success before returning to the tag team division by forming a team with Luke Harper.

Following FCW being rebranded as NXT Wrestling, Erick Rowan made his debut in November 2012 and was introduced as the “second son” of Bray Wyatt, with his tag team partner Harper being the “first son”.
Together, Erick Rowan and Luke Harper defeated Percy Watson and Yoshi Tatsu on the January 9, 2013 episode of NXT.

January 9, 2013 – NXT Live Event: The Wyatt Family (Erick Rowan and Luke Harper) defeated Jake Carter and Mike Dalton.
January 12, 2013 – NXT Live Event: Adrian Neville and Mike Dalton defeated The Wyatt Family (Luke Harper and Rowan).
On the January 23 episode of NXT, Erick Rowan and Luke Harper again defeated Watson and Tatsu in the opening round of the NXT Tag Team Championship tournament.
~~~Following a win over Bo Dallas and Michael McGillicutty in the semifinals, Erick Rowan and Luke Harper were defeated in the finals of the tournament by Adrian Neville and Oliver Grey.
