WWE held emergency over low WrestleMania 42 tickets sale

WWE is mulling how to move WrestleMania 42 tickets.

With the “Super Bowl of Sports Entertainment” fast approaching, WWE is exploring ways to address lower-than-anticipated ticket sales.

WrestleVotes Radio recently reported (via Fightful Select) that WWE brought together several departments for a meeting to discuss a course of action regarding the slow ticket sales for WrestleMania 42.

“WWE held a multi-department company meeting on February 11 to address lower than expected ticket sales for WrestleMania. All departments have been tasked with promotions and strategies to boost ticket sales and momentum heading into the event.”

The report also noted that WWE plans to keep ticket pricing “as is for the time being.”

Last week, WrestleTix reported that WWE had moved 36,000 tickets for each night. In comparison, WrestleMania 41 had roughly 56,000 to 60,000 tickets distributed per night. WrestleTix noted that at this same point last year, the company had already moved approximately 10,000 more tickets per night than it has for WrestleMania 42.

Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp also reported last week that WWE was “adamantly prohibiting watch parties of WrestleMania at establishments within 50 miles of Allegiant Stadium.” This reportedly led to frustration among several establishments, as the city of Las Vegas paid a site fee to bring WrestleMania to the area and boost tourism.

Despite criticism from wrestlers and fans over rising ticket prices, TKO Chief Operating Officer Mark Shapiro remains adamant about the company’s approach to maximizing ticket revenue. Shapiro’s comments that Vince McMahon previously priced tickets with families in mind also struck a chord with fans and wrestlers alike.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider confirmed the two-day ticket prices for WrestleMania 42 ahead of the official on-sale in September.

WWE WrestleMania 42 takes place in Las Vegas on April 18 and 19.
