- Adam Copeland and Christian Cage are set to team together for the first time in 14-years
- Even though the two may not be fully on the same page, they will be taking on ROH World Television Champion Nick Wayne and Kip Sabian at the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view in London at the O2 Arena on Sunday, August 24.The match was made during Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite after the two did a quick embrace.
Copeland had won his match against Big Stoke by disqualification, after he tossed powder in his face, but then was set to be attacked by former teammates and friends – FTR.
Below is an excerpt from Alex Kahr’s AEW Dynamite recap of how the match with Copeland and Cage vs. Wayne and Sabian came into play.
FTR look for a spike piledriver on the Rated R Superstar, but Christian Cage comes out with a Spike of his own to run FTR out of the ring! Nick Wayne comes to the ring with a chair but is fended off by a Spike swing, forcing Wayne to regroup with his mom and fake brother on the outside as we see Cage and Cope stare each other down amidst a “hug it out” chant.
Cope has the chair in his hand as Cage offers Spike to him…and Cope drops the chair to accept, before dropping that as the men who once considered each other brothers embrace to a pop from the crowd. It doesn’t last long as Cage leaves the ring quickly after, with Cope’s music as he watches his one-time best friend retreat up the ramp.
