Here are some of the highlights from DDP’s interview on the show, provided by The Mayhem’s show correspondent, Dan “Ho-Ju” Kriegbaum:

=================================================================================================================

was on board to promote the latest in his Yoga For Regular Guys workout program, in addition to reflecting back on his WWE/WCW/TNA career — including the ten-year anniversary of his teaming with Karl Malone vs. “Hollywood” Hulk Hogan & Dennis Rodman (and how this “storyline” will have some continuity flowing on The Mayhem airwaves in the days to come). As many fans know, DDP waged many wars with two people who have been in the news over the past few months: “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair & The Undertaker. DDP gave his takes/thoughts on the upcoming Undertaker/Edge Hell In A Cell Match at SummerSlam, as well as Flair parting ways with the WWE. All of this & so much more with one of the most charismatic personalities to ever lace up a pair of boots — Two sets of three letters say it best & say it all…D-D-P & M-N-M.

The Big Mosh, Blade, & DFL welcomed Diamond Dallas Page to the show, and right off the bat asked how he could sum up everything he has going on currently. DDP responded by saying that there is only one word that could sum him up currently…”unstoppable.” He is extremely proud of his revamped official website (www.DiamondDallasPage.com), and said it is “the most advanced website of any individual not run by a major organization.” In what he calls “six websites in one,” his new site features his old-school wrestling site which was online from 1996-2001, along with his areas for his non-wrestling roles as an inspirational speaker, actor, & YRG fitness guru…along with a social networking site designed specifically for Yoga For Regular Guys users, and also his e-mail area.

DDP then began to describe everything that is currently going in the “YRG Universe,” laying it all out on the line by saying “what happens in the next three years is going to dwarf what happened in (his years in) wrestling.” With such a bold statement like that, Mosh asked DDP to take The Mayhem’s worldwide listening audience through the evolution of YRG, and how it has transformed over time. DDP said “For the first 42 years of my life, I wouldn’t be caught dead doing yoga,” comparing it to other common dislikes among people, including eating sushi. Then around 1998-1999, he ruptured his L-4 & L-5 discs in his spine, and was told by his doctors that he would never wrestle again. As fans may remember, this was right around the time where his WCW run was starting to pick up, so being told he would never be able to wrestle again put him in a depressed state that he had to adapt to in order to overcome. When thinking of ways to adapt and try to improve instead of letting it possibly get worse, Kimberly suggested yoga. His reply was “F*ck that,” which is how it was then quoted in a Wall Street Journal article about him. He took his wife’s advice, adapted to doing yoga, and “within 2-3 weeks began regaining flexibility”. He added that he then started adding his own twist, using “slow motion calisthenics” like pushups and crunches, in 3, 5 and 10 second reps, and returned to the ring less than 3 months later.

DDP then put his whole wrestling career up until his return into a “cliff notes version”. He entered wrestling at 35 1/2 years old. At 36, he suffered a torn rotator cuff and was fired, but came back at 37 to “virtually start (his) career” at the same age “Stone Cold” Steve Austin retired. At 38, Hulk Hogan helped to get his foot in the door, and at 40 he “kicked that f*cker down” in 1996. ’97-’98, he felt like he was on top of the world until he was injured…until coming back at age 42, after being told his career was over. Then, at age 43, he was World Heavyweight Champion. After a timeline like that, he said “If you didn’t think I was going to make (yoga) a part of my daily lifestyle, you’re smoking crack!” He then began to make it part of his daily regimen, and along the way started to get other guys interested regularly as well, one after another, which is how YRG came about.

In regards to his book about YRG, he described it as “Yoga meets The Man Show,” as it features hot “yoga babes” along with “regular guys” doing his form of yoga. He then added to really get a feel of the understanding of YRG, as a comparison…”if yoga was a bicycle…YRG would be a Harley.” DDP then went on to talk about some stories of a few people whose lives have been changed by YRG, including a veteran who just wanted to walk again, and a 476 lb. man who is now down to 320 lbs. Amazing!

Talk about storyline continuity…it exists in professional wrestling & sports-entertainment…Why not in wrestling radio? DDP joined The Mayhem this past week. On the 10th anniversary of the year which saw Diamond Dallas Page & Karl Malone def. “Hollywood” Hulk Hogan & Eric Bischoff at Bash At The Beach, The Mayhem is proud to welcome former NBA star & one of the contestants on CMT’s “Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling,” Dennis Rodman this upcoming Monday night (August 11th), with the show beginning live at 8PM ET/7PM CT. DDP recalls the story of enjoying a Houston Rockets/Utah Jazz basketball game @ The Summit in Houston, TX. During a stoppage of the action, Karl Malone looked up at the crowd, saw DDP, made The Diamond Cutter…and the rest flowed from there. One thing led to another, he was invited to the NBA All-Star Game, & things progressed well with their relationship. He thought it would make a great idea for World Championship Wrestling to use both Karl & Dennis together (who believe it or not, both broke into the league as rookies into the NBA the same year) for Rodman’s next WCW appearance. After pitching the idea to Eric Bischoff, DDP said that Eric wanted to initially have “The Macho Man” Randy Savage & Malone vs. Hogan & Rodman. DDP was not let that happen, especially because it was his friendship with “The Mailman.” EB & DDP hopped on a plane several days later, and the deal was struck with Karl. Malone wanted to actually make this be a success and be legit the whole way through, so he trained for approximately three-four weeks/two-three days per week with DDP leading into the match and got himself into the professional wrestling frame of mind. On the flip-side, he feels that Dennis “did not really want to walk through the match, and didn’t know what the hell he was doing.” However, he does credit Dennis for having an incredible “sixth sense,” knowing how to “act & react.” DDP also believes that Rodman could have made some huge money in the wrestling business. So, he is looking forward to watching Dennis on the new “Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling” program, simply because Dennis “is great television.” He has heard the series is very good, and that he hopes “his boys” (Eric Bischoff & Jason Hervey) kick ass.

Mosh, Blade, & DFL then turned the interview towards more of a wrestling aspect, mentioning “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair’s recent departure from the WWE…which DDP was unaware of. After The Mayhem crew informed DDP of the latest breaking details, DDP said that “he has always respected The Nature Boy,” regardless of some of the things that have been said about one another and despite their “major ups & downs.” He wished to add that Flair will be able to do his thing even at the ages of 70 & possibly 80. “I don’t know how, but he does.” Despite his farewell/goodbye with the WWE was, DDP did not see Flair retiring, because “he loves it too much,” and that he can draw major money overseas…especially in Japan. DDP strongly feels it would be a “huge coup” for TNA to have Flair come into their company, and that could bring them the ratings they have coveted for a long period of time. He wanted to let the fans know that both he & Ric will be at a convention in September in Philadelphia, and he plans on shaking his hand, giving him a hug, & catching up with him.

Mosh then switched gears to the upcoming WWE SummerSlam Pay-Per-View on August 17th & the return of “The Phenom” back to the squared circle: The Undertaker vs. “The Rated-R Superstar” Edge inside Hell In A Cell at “The Biggest Blockbuster Of The Summer.” DDP goes on record saying that Edge is “one of the great young talents out there…He was a guy who was destined to be champion…I love to really watch Edge work…He really works like a heel.” Without a doubt, DDP remembers his time working with The Undertaker, as part of the WWE/WCW Invasion angle/storyline, where Page was “stalking” The Undertaker’s wife at the time, Sara. He called their feud “a debacle” (at no direct fault of The Taker of course), but plenty of fans to this day come up to him saying how they loved the storyline/angle between the two superstars. In hindsight, he wishes that The Undertaker would have put 1/3 of what he put against Edge at WrestleMania XXIV against him that angle, which he believes could have made it better. DDP was happy however to “play his part,” and was very thankful for having the opportunity to work with The Undertaker.

In this 45+ minute “Summer Of Mayhem 2008” interview, DDP gives his uncensored thoughts & takes on the furthering of the angle between himself/Malone & Hogan/Rodman on NBC’s “Tonight Show With Jay Leno,” why he believes the nine-match between him & Christian for the WWE European Championship @ WrestleMania X-8 holds up as the second or third best on the card that night in Toronto (and if you can tell which superstar was 26 & which was 46), the importance of him moving on from professional wrestling full-time, why it was vital for him to go into the world of Hollywood with the name Diamond Dallas Page, which WWE main-event superstar does YRG, plus some words of advice to Mosh, as he will be making the attempts to join the YRG universe later this month. DDP reminded The Mayhem Crew & the fans around the world that once again, the pleasure was all theirs, and what a way to close out Dallas’ return to “Your Home Of Wrestling Radio.” Bang!

This week, it also pays to be Roode…For the first time since early 2006, TNA superstar, Robert Roode, joined The Monday Night Mayhem airwaves. One-half of TNA’s hottest tag teams, Beer Money, joined The ‘Ham Crew to preview his TNA World Tag Team Title Match (w/his partner, “The Tennessee Cowboy” James Storm) against The LAX (Homicide & Hernandez w/Salinas & Hector Guerrero) at TNA’s Hard Justice Pay-Per-View from The Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, NJ. Plus, Robert discussed his recent feud with Booker T, as well as his thoughts on Savio Vega’s debut in the company (on the heels of “Coach” Scott D’Amore’s departure), Tomko leaving TNA, the upcoming TNA iMPACT/Midway video game, his Canadian homecoming at No Surrender in Oshawa, Ontario, & the Bound For Glory PPV in Chicago, IL. In this 40+ minute Mayhem exclusive interview, Robert gives his uncensored thoughts & takes on the possibilities of “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair making a TNA appearance, and if that were to happen (possibly with a face-off with his legendary opponent of many years, Sting), what that could mean for TNA Wrestling for gathering their largest exposure ever (from wrestling fans both past & present), the rest of the Hard Justice PPV lineup (including the New Jersey Street Fight between Team 3-D/”The Instant Classic” Christian Cage & “The War Machine” Rhino, and how him & James could be looking at this match in particular to scout their next possible opponent), what music that Canadian wrestlers listen to (and whether he has Phil Collins on his Ipod), plus a completely opposite end of the spectrum from Ms. Banks, but Robert hearing from Jeff Lindberg (his “self-professed #1 fan”) live on the air via e-mail? Can Robert Roode truly change one man’s life that much? Hey…it pays to be roode…plain & simple!
