Interview highlights courtesy of The Mayhem’s official correspondent, Paterson From New Jersey:
His thoughts on capturing the FIP World Title & being a part of the lineage of the talents who have held the title previously that have gone on to headline the WWE & TNA: “It was pretty cool, and it’s not something I take lightly. Anytime you win a championship like that…it’s kinda like being the president. When you win it, it’s all celebration, and cool, and everything, but then the real work begins, and the pressure put on you is a heavy responsibility, and it’s not something I take lightly. The FIP has been one of the most important titles in indy wrestling over the last few years, and the guys that held it like Homicide, Bryan Danielson, Roderick Strong (who I wrestled twice). It’s good to be on that list of guys that can hopefully live up to the expectations.”

What lessons has Jon learned coming through the ranks & being a title holder in three different promotions: “Everywhere you go, you’re in front of a different audience, and different audiences wants to see different things so you have to be able to adapt. You have to be able to wrestle different opponents, and the pressure is really put on when you get in that position, and you have to deliver. At this point in my career, I’m ready to step into those roles. It’s very cool to be in that position.”

How he prides himself in being different from every other superstar in the wrestling industry today: “When you watch Jon Moxley wrestle, it’s like freshly cut grass. It’s a timeless feeling you get when you watch me wrestle. Maybe I’m the greatest wrestling in the world, and I can’t really do all that cool stuff, but street fighting is the basis of my entire strategy when I get in the ring, and it’s something people can relate to.”

In this exclusive interview with “Your Home of Wrestling Radio,” Jon also gave a sneak preview of what’s to come in his FIP World Title defense against Phil Atlas at “Open The Northern Gate” this Friday night (in Windsor Ontario), along with his Grudge Match against Jimmy Jacobs being filmed for Dragon Gate’s “Uprising” Pay-Per-View this Saturday evening (in Mississauga, Ontario), plus what it has been like for him to lay the groundwork & foundation for the formation of Kamikaze USA (with Shingo Takagi & Yamato), working with Tommy Dreamer this early in his career, & so much more! As part of Monday Night Mayhem’s “Sweeps Month,” DGUSA’s Vice President, Gabe Sapolsky, also joined The Big Mosh & “The Chairman of the Board” Todd Vincent for an in-depth preview of the promotion’s “Mercury Rising” PPV (debuting next Friday night, May 14th).
