In an update from Mike Santana, he posted to social media that his new in-ring name in NXT is in honor of his late father.

Former TNA World Champion Mike Santana who is now signed with WWE, took to social media to confirm his new in-ring name is ‘Cruz Montana.’
Back on July 24, WWE filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, for “Cruz Montana.”
Santana confirmed the name in a new social media post on Monday, noting he had the pro wrestling world buzzing when he showed up at the end of last week’s episode of NXT and did speak. He confronted NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo after he successfully defended the title against Naraku in a street fight. The commentary team did not refer to Santana by name when he came out.
Santana also confirmed he will appear on Tuesday’s NXT saying, “For the first time, you get to hear what Cruz Montana has to say.”
