  3. NECW 4th Annual Iron 8 Results

This past Saturday night, NECW presented the 4th annual IRON 8 Championship at the National Guard Armory in Brockton.  The night was a virtual thrill ride of emotion for NECW fans.

The evening started with the introduction of all eight Iron 8 competitors, who came to the ring for formal introductions and to pose for photos with the IRON 8 trophy. The first round matches then got underway.

In an action-packed opening bout, “The Infamous” Bobby Fish defeated Jason Blade by pinfall.

“Straight Edge” Brian Fury pinned Handsome Johnny after a top rope power bomb/bridge combo.

Defending IRON 8 Champion “Die Hard” Eddie Edwards pinned Irish star Gary Cassidy following a cross-leg Fisherman’s Buster.

In the final IRON 8 preliminary match, “The Real Deal” Brandon Locke pinned Antonio “The Promise” Thomas countering a sunset flip attempt with a seated cradle.

In non-tournament mixed-tag team action Big Rick Fuller and Sean Gorman (substituting for WWW Champion, Tanya Lee) defeated Nikki Roxx and “The Human Nightmare” Evan Siks when Fuller inadvertently knocked out Roxx allowing Gorman to pin her.

NECW Owners Sheldon Goldberg, Kyle and Matt Storm brought out DC Dillinger to present him with the new Triple Crown Championship belt. Gorman’s bragging led to a challenge for the NECW tag team titles and Sabotage will indeed face The Dogs of War for the NECW Tag Team Championship on June 16 in Danvers, MA .

In the main event, a 45-minute Iron Man match to decide the IRON 8 Tournament: “Die Hard” Eddie Edwards, “The Real Deal” Brandon Locke, “The Infamous” Bobby Fish and “Straight Edge” Brian Fury wrestled to a 2 falls to 2 falls to 2 falls to 2 falls tie leading to a sudden death overtime. With Locke and Fury tied up on the outside, Edwards and Fish put on an incredible display of athletic skill.  Move after move and hold after hold were exchanged until Eddie Edwards gained the final fall when Fish broke his ankle following a Spanish Fly. The total time of the match was 52 minutes.  Edwards becomes the 2007 IRON 8 Champion and the first man ever to score back to back wins in the tournament.

An ambulance was called to take Fish to the hospital.  The crowd in attendance did not leave and gave Fish a standing ovation and chanted his name as he left in the care of EMT personnel.

NECW returns to live action this Saturday night in Danvers at the National Guard Armory.  Advance tickets are on sale now at all FYE and Strawberries locations and online at www.NECWwrestling.com.
