~ Opening round matches announced for CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT 2K7

~ The Union hosts Steve Corino Training Seminar/Union Tryouts

8 WRESTLERS. 7 FIGHTS. 1 NEW CHAMPION.

The UNION of INDEPENDENT PROFESSIONAL WRESTLERS returns to Royal Canadian Legion Hall #101 in Toronto, Ontario on Saturday November 3rd for “CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT 2K7”. Doors open at 630pm. Bell time is 7pm. The Legion Hall is located at 3850 Lake Shore Blvd West, midway between Dixie Road and Brown’s Line and directly adjacent to both the Long Branch GO station and the TTC’s Long Branch Loop.

An eight-man, one-night tournament will be held to crown a brand new Union Heavyweight champion, the first Union champion in over three years. Here now are the official first round match-ups:

“The King of Old School” STEVE CORINO vs. “Impact” EDDIE OSBOURNE

“Fabulous” JOHN McCHESNEY vs. “The High Risk Hero” RIP IMPACT

PEPPER PARKS vs. “Big Rig” BRODIE LEE (w. manager Jessy Jones)

“The Havana Pitbull” RICKY REYES vs. STERLING JAMES KEENAN

Next week, we’ll be announcing our special non-tournament feature attraction match.

Tickets are ON SALE NOW in person at the Legion Hall and online via the “UNION SHOP” at www.wrestlersunion.ca . The event is open to ALL AGES, but for those 19 and older, the Legion Hall includes a FULLY LICENSED BAR. Fans are reminded to bring valid ID and encouraged to use public transit if they plan to purchase alcohol.

UIPW INTRODUCES “THE UNION APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM”

The UNION of INDEPENDENT PROFESSIONAL WRESTLERS is pleased to announce that the first in an ongoing series of pro wrestling seminars will be held on Saturday afternoon November 3rd, hosted by former ECW World champion STEVE CORINO. Corino, a 12-year veteran of the squared circle, has traveled the world over and faced off against some of the biggest names the sport has to offer. Now, in this intimate classroom setting, the “King of Old School” will pass on his knowledge to you.

Topics to be covered during this exciting 3-hour session include:

The Psychology of Pro Wrestling
Telling the Story
Slowing Down
Getting the Most out of the Least
Selling
Facials
Being a True Heel
Being a Believable Babyface
Cutting an Effective Promo
Marketing and Exposure
Etiquette

After the seminar, there will be a series of in-ring tryouts from which 2 students will be chosen for a match on that evening’s UIPW event. The cost of the seminar is $50 per participant and is open to anyone who would like to learn more about the art and business of professional wrestling.
