WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT NEWS
2/19 Smackdown TV results: Kane over Dolph Ziggler; Cryme Tyme over Trent Barreta & Caylen Croft; CM Punk & Luke Gallows over John Morrison & R-Truth; The Hart Dynasty & Natalya over Great Khali, Matt Hardy & Maria; and Edge over Batista via DQ. A promo aired announcing that Ezekiel Jackson was coming to Smackdown soon.

2/19 WWE Supershow results from Rosemont, IL: Mickie James, Eve Torres & The Bella Twins over Michelle McCool, Maryse, Beth Phoenix & Alicia Fox; Primo over Chavo Guerrero; Ezekiel Jackson over Goldust; ShowMiz over MVP & Mark Henry; Kofi Kingston over Carlito; Drew McIntyre vs. Kane was a double countout; John Morrison over CM Punk; and John Cena, Edge & The Undertaker over Randy Orton, Sheamus & Batista. The show was virtually a sell-out with over 15,000 people. Not certain but I believe they broke their attendence record at the Allstate Arena as there was no stage set up taking up extra space.

The 2/20 Supershow in Springfield had the same results at Rosemont plus Christian over Tyler Reks billed as a free agent match. The show was a complete sell out which would be almost 8,000 and had the third highest sales gross in the arena’s history.

The Elimination Chamber pay-per-view is live tonight from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis. Complete line up: Sheamus defending the WWE title against John Cena, Triple H, Randy Orton, Ted DiBiase & Kofi Kingston in the Raw Chamber; The Undertaker defending the World heavyweight title against John Morrison, R-Truth, CM Punk, Chris Jericho & Rey Mysterio in the Smackdown Chamber; Maryse vs. Gail Kim for the vacant Divas title; and Drew McIntyre vs. Kane for the IC title. Batista vs. Edge was originally booked but not announced although at last word there was an angle planned which would explain all this. A chamber match will likely open the show tonight.

Raw TV is Monday from Indianapolis with Ty Murray and Jewel as guest hosts. The Smackdown tapings are Tuesday in Milwaukee with Michelle McCool vs. Mickie James for the Women’s title with Vickie Guerrero as referee. We’re looking for reader reports from both shows to [email protected].

Randy Orton won’t be charged for assault in Saugus, MA.  TMZ reported today that authorities did not find probable cause to charge him with a crime over a January incident in which Orton allegedly spat gum in the face of a 15-year-old boy. Orton also allegedly insulted the teen, who two days later accused him of the assault.

The NXT “rookies” from developmental are backstage in St. Louis as they are shooting for the new show this coming week. William Regal is replacing MVP as the mentor for Skip Sheffield. This was more to do with Regal being a “free agent” with the death of ECW more than anything else.

TNA has a huge billboard on the expressway near the Scottrade Center promoting it’s Lockdown PPV with Hogan, Flair, Styles and Angle all pictured.

Ted DiBiase and his younger brother Brett from developmental will induct their father into the WWE Hall of Famer during Wrestlemania weekend. The Million Dollar Man and Antonio Inoki are the first names officially announced so far for this year’s ceremony, along with Stu Hart, who is also going in despite the storyline.

Steve Austin has a Twitter @steveaustinBSR which he apparently made with the help of Kevin Nash. He already has over 5,000 followers and is tweeting about his favorite wine. Seriously.

Shad Gaspard wrote on his MySpace that he’s past the first round of casting for a heel role in the upcoming Conan the Barbarian movie: “Now it’s down to me and several others to see which one of us will go head to head with Jason Momoa. This role is as important to me as playing The Scorpion King in The Mummy Returns was for Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. I never ask my fans for much, but if you think I would be the best opponent to fight Jason Momoa in the new Conan the Barbarian film then I need you guys to hit the Conan chat rooms, forums, blogs, tweets, and message boards and let them know Shad Gaspard is the man when it comes to kicking ass and taking names on the big screen.”

The Baltimore Sun has a Q&A with John Morrison at http://tinyurl.com/ybvb66j. He feels being a long-time fan of WWE has helped his longevity in the company. “The way I look at sports entertainment now and my career is [that] I am constantly moving down a path, constantly evolving, and I don’t know where the path is going to lead. If the path is taking me to a world heavyweight championship, that’s great, but all I really strive for and care about is putting on the best matches I possibly can. I try to do that by staying on top of the game – studying, watching tape, working out, staying in shape, staying injury-free. I think when you look at someone you work with and they’ve got those qualities and all they want to do is have the best match they can possibly have and they’ve done their homework, they’re someone that you like having around and you want to work with. I think that’s really what’s made the difference for me.”

JBL at http://tinyurl.com/ycoqndz says he’s glad he retired.

Sarona Snuka, daughter of Jimmy, makes her FCW debut on March 19. She was trained by Afa.

Dixie Carter finalized a contract with Shannon Moore and the ink should be dry by Monday. Although he was likely coming in regardless he acted as an intermediary in initial communications between TNA and Jeff Hardy.

The Jeff Hardy/Shannon Moore autograph signing this afternoon in Middletown, NY, out drew both TNA live events this weekend. Reportedly over 1,500 people turned out and they had to turn many away.

Abyss wore Hogan’s WWE Hall of Fame ring at house shows this weekend.
Jeremy Borash posted a photo on his Twitter page saying the ring got a huge reaction. Somebody commented underneath the photo, “Isn’t it sad when a WWE prop gets more attention and a bigger pop than the actual TNA product?”

Impact on Thursday night did a 1.2 rating and was slightly up in viewers from the previous two week’s. The highest rated segments were Tara vs.
Daffney and Abyss vs Jeff Jarrett.

The Daily Star in the UK has a story on Ric Flair at http://tinyurl.com/yfxxgrq. He feels his legacy is safe despite stepping back in the ring and is 100 percent behind the creative direction of the company. “We’re bringing a different outlook on the business – it’s more a combination of old school and what’s popular now. It’s a totally different direction to WWE. I don’t think here there’s too much concern about rubbing people up the wrong way. Fans like to be upset. They like to be up and down, they need to feel the emotion – stand behind a character and feel the love and feel the hate. That’s what it’s all about.”

Eric Bischoff is taking fan feedback and answering questions on his Facebook page. He said there is no chance of Dallas Page returning to TNA but said he spoke to Bill Goldberg recently. “The subject of TNA did not come up,” he wrote. “I sincerely doubt that Bill has any interest in getting back into the wrestling business.” When asked about Vince  Russo and writing wrestling shows in general, he said: “I’ve said before that professional wrestling is a bit like a buffet. You have to have a little bit of everything because not everyone in our audience likes the exact same thing, although the most vocal minority [internet fans] would lead you to believe otherwise.”

Hulk and Nick Hogan have settled with the family of John Graziano over Nick’s 2007 car accident that seriously injured Graziano. No terms were disclosed but they will be providing life time care to Graziano who suffered severe brain damage in the accident. David Houston, the Hogan’s attorney, said his clients are pleased to settle and felt the outcome was “as painless as possible” for both families.

Louis-area promoter Kenny G.

There is a Beer Money DVD in the works.

UFC fighter Frank Mir cut a stupid promo on Brock Lesnar during a Pittsburgh radio interview with Mark Madden on Friday: Mir said: “I want to fight Brock Lesnar. I hate who he is as a person. I want to break his neck in the ring. I want him to be the first person that dies to Octagon-related injuries.” Just a stupid promo that will likely give more ammunition to States like New York not to give the UFC a license.
