Bret Hart sent out an email this week to promoters and close friends noting that his long-time personal assistant Marcy Englestein is stepping down from her duties but will continue to assist him in various writing projects. Bret has recently (within the last two week’s) talked with Vince McMahon about doing some more business together. WWE are keen to produce a ‘best of’ Bret Hart DVD which would be a compilation of his favorite matches which he would narrate. Nothing is set in stone but Bret has said he is keen to make the project happen for the fans, and is also open to the idea of coming back as a semi-regular on-air personality, something he has been against since he left the company in 1997. Needless to say he doesn’t need the money, but he feels he can contribute in a positive way and help out with younger talent.

I managed to find some post-Raw footage from Monday night with Lilian Garcia and her fiancé dancing to Time of my Life:

Dave Batista is selling off his Bentley Continental Speed GT and his Supercharged 2008 Land Rover on eBay. The Bentley has a starting price of $50,000 or a Buy it Now price of $172,999, while the Land Rover bidding is currently at $60,100 with less than 24 hours to go or a Buy it Now price of $75,000.

Chavo Guerrero went off on his Twitter page calling fans “retards” after several people sent him Tweets regarding his storyline with Hornswoggle.
He wrote: “You guys realize that I can out wrestle most guys in the WWE, right? The way you guys respond makes me think that you actually think I’m losing. It makes me think I’m responding to RETARDS! We’re not the UFC. It’s not real. I can beat up a midget any day of the week and so could you. But who wants to see that?” Thinking better of it he later apologised noting he had partaken in one too many beverages: “If I offended anyone last night, sorry. Had a few too many last night!”

The Tulsa Daily World ran a story today noting that the TV taping at BOK Center was the largest crowd ever for a WWE event in Tulsa with over 10,000 in attendance.

ECW on Tuesday night drew 1.2 rating, the same number as last week.

Several past names are lined up for the Smackdown ten-year anniversary show which is taped next Tuesday (airs next Friday) at the Boston Garden. Those confirmed to return for one night only are JBL, Vickie Guerrero, Michael Cole in the announce booth, and they are also talking to one major former name. The locally advertised main event is DX, The Undertaker & John Cena vs. Randy Orton, The Legacy & CM Punk.

WWE sent out a survey today asking about possible names for their February, 2010 PPV where the main events would be Elimination Chamber matches. The choices are: No Way Out (current name), Elimination Chamber (most likely if they must change), Heavy Metal (lame), Battle Chamber (lamer), Chamber of Conflict (even lamer).

Former announcer Mike Adamle is training hard to compete in the Ford Ironman Triathlon World Championships in Hawaii on October 10. He is raising money for the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund. The event consists of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and a 26.2 mile run.

The song You Gotta Move by Aerosmith was powdered out of the just released SummerSlam DVD. The company couldn’t come to terms with the band over rights to use the track on the DVD.

I didn’t see this but apparently Jay Leno did a skit on Monday night ripping the former Linda Bollea for dating 20-year-old Charlie Hill.

Jim Ross defended Jeff Hardy in his latest blog. In reference to Hardy taking down his Twitter and Myspace pages, Ross wrote: “The more I hear of this legal matter the more I think that there is MUCH more to this story than meets the eye and that Jeff Hardy is far from being a drug trafficker. To even think the latter is  ridiculous. I feel confident that in the coming weeks that Jeff will have his day to reconcile this matter and to better address it publicly. Until then, Jeff is wise to remain silent and not feel obligated to tweet, etc his fans as no one needs or deserves any information on this issue until the proper time.
Just from what I have been able to ascertain, this case looks much worse on paper than it actually is but let’s all allow the legal process to address this matter and remember that we, as citizens of the United States, are innocent until proven guilty.” Ross also speculated that ring announcer Justin Roberts would move across to Raw following the arrival of Lauren Mayhew on Smackdown. You can read his blog and order BBQ products, which I am told are delicious, at www.jrsbarbq.com.

Jerry Lawler at http://tinyurl.com/yd23cmb says he may take legal action against Channel 3 in Memphis for excluding him from a televised debate on Saturday. He said his exclusion from the debate “could result in permanent, irreparable damage to his mayoral campaign.” He is also upset with the station over their recent poll where they listed him with just
2 percent of the electorate, while every other poll had him polling over 20 percent.

The Score in Canada has extended it’s programming deal with WWE for another three years. Shane McMahon is quoted in today’s press release as
saying: “We are delighted to be continuing our partnership with The Score which would not be possible without the dedication of our WWE fans in Canada. The expansion of our programming on The Score with entertaining television such as WWE Vintage Collection along with our established programs of WWE Experience, RAW and SmackDown allows viewers more opportunities to enjoy the action-packed excitement of WWE.”

Chris Jericho is interviewed at http://tinyurl.com/nmb29s. When asked about the brand extension a few years back, he said he thought it was a better idea back then than it is now: “There was a lot more talent when [WWE] did the brand extension. You could actually split the rosters in two; create some competition for ourselves, especially after WCW went under. Sometimes I wonder if we should still do that with talent roster the way that it is with a lot of younger guys. It’s a good idea to give them a chance to shine, but for me the way right now, especially working Raw and Smackdown, it shows that some guys should do both shows because we need the diversity on both. But still, week in and week out, they still make it entertaining, build up a lot of Smackdown and they do it more on Raw as well, there’s room for everyone on the show, some just have to kind of grab the brass ring and run with it.” Talking about the younger talent he put over Dolph Ziggler, The Miz, John Morrison, Kofi Kingston and Jack Swagger: “So now is the time, we need these guys to step up and the thing is too, is you say step up, step up, step up, but some guys just aren’t capable; they’re not ready because they don’t have the experience yet. But as long they are improving every week, and those are guys that I kind of see as being the next wave of the company, when my generation of guys is retired or not at the same level as we are now.” Jericho also noted he has just one year left on his contract.

TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION WRESTLING NEWS

TNA runs in Germany this weekend for shows in Nuremberg, Chemnitz, Dortmund, and Hannover. We’re looking for readers reports to [email protected].

Impact tonight on Spike has Rhino vs. Bobby Lashley; Scott Steiner & Booker T vs. Mick Foley & Abyss, Suicide vs. D’Angelo Dinero in a street fight; and Taylor Wilde & Sarita vs. Tara & ODB for the Knockout tag titles.

Spike will air Global Impact 2 on October 8 at 11pm. This footage was filmed in January at New Japan’s Tokyo Dome show before a crowd of 27,500 (Japanese media reported it as 40,000). The show will feature Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin vs. Yujiro & Tetsuya Naito; Riki Choshu, Masahiro Chono, Kurt Angle & Kevin Nash vs. Giant Bernard, Takashi Iizuka, Tomohiro Ishii & Karl Anderson; and Team 3D vs. Togi Makabe & Toru Yano.

Dixie Carter has banned all talent from appearing from the Bubba radio show in Tampa. This is mostly due to Bubba giving air time to the “mystery caller” who talked about the relationship between Jeff Jarrett and Karen Angle. She was also upset that Bubba tried to call her cell phone several times while on air, and the Kurt Angle deal this past week where Bubba had him on while ripping Vince Russo was said to be the final straw. TNA in recent months has become more WWE-like in trying to micro-manage their talent and staff. They both have the same weird mentally that the media is around to do their bidding, and when stories don’t go their way, they blacklist or threaten anyone who reports anything negative about them or their talent.

Daniels and Somoa Joe are pushing for Colt Cabana to be signed on their Twitter pages. Cabana isn’t under contract to Ring of Honor but they were aware of him coming in to do the dark match on Monday.

Tazz, upset over criticism of his announcing with Mike Tenay, wrote the following on his Facebook page today: “Don’t expect a homerun in every at bat folks! Some of you will take one sentence a wrestling announcer says, not like the comment and rip the guy! What about the other 100-200 sentences one of us said in the three hours?”

OTHER WRESTLING NEWS

Buddy Wayne, 42, a journeyman wrestler who worked in the Portland and Vancouver territories during the mid to late 80s, is undergoing open heart surgery next Wednesday. A faulty valve in his heart was recently detected from a blood test stemming from a visit to A&E for a bump to his head. Doctors have told him the success rate for this specific operation are 20,000 to 1 in his favor and have advised him never to wrestle again. His neck is also messed up and he will eventually need surgery for a cracked C-7 vertebrae. He already has three discs in his back held together with plates and screws and is tagged by the State of Washington as permanently disabled. For the last two years he ran a wrestling school out of Everett.

Former NWA announcer David Crockett appeared on WBTV in Charlotte on Wednesday representing volunteers for the American Red Cross. He was pitching for North Carolina to help out the people of Atlanta due to the floods. He pointed out that Atlanta was quick to help Charlotte when Hurricane Hugo hit town 20 years ago.

Story at http://tinyurl.com/ya2xcep about Kiki pro wrestling returning to television in New Zealand for the first time in 25 years. Kiki wrestling ran from 1974 to 1984 and was one of the highest rated shows in the country, according to the article.

Hulkamania tickets officially went on sale today in Australia. Do we have any readers that purchased any?

WRESTLING GLOBE MAILBAG

Thank you for tipping your readership off to the rampant viruses/trojans
infecting a lot of the wrestling news websites.

I got hit twice with something called Total Security trojan. It puts
itself into your windows files and when you reboot places alternating
x’s and o’s across your screen while prompting you to give it your
credit card to purchase their program although we both know their
intention is to get our credit card number and run it up.

It was extremely difficult to get rid of it because even when you
use/purchase a program to take it off your system, the trojan simply
regenerates itself… It took a friend of mine who is extremely talented
with computers to eliminate it, but he thad to take my hard drive out
and put it into another computer where the Windows files were not
infected.

As the case may be, it would be kind/considerate of you to repeat that
warning to the fans of wrestling who may visit these other web sites. I
only wish I could tell you all of the ones I went to, one was [edited]
but now have deleted from my favorites.

Thank you for you the warning… only wish I had received it before my
computer got blasted….it’s working now but I am fearful of its return.
If you have a few minutes, you may want to update yourself on the Total
Security trojan.  It is, in my friend’s estimation, one of the most evil
he’s ever seen.

Dean
