The major former name we mentioned a few days ago for Tuesday’s
Smackdown anniversary show in Boston is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. WWE were unable to work out a deal to have him attend live in person but a
camera crew went to his house and they shot a pretape segment from his
wrestling room that will air on Friday.

On a related note, Rock made a surprise appearance Saturday night at the
WXW C4 show in Mineola, FL to promote Sarona Snuka’s (Jimmy Snuka’s
daughter) in-ring debut. C4 is run by Samu and supported by Afa Anoai’s
Wild Samoan Training Center. We’re told he looked jacked and something
more resembling his wrestling days than recent years. From one reader
who attended the show: “The crowd absolutely went crazy. Rock spoke just
for a few minutes and was very low key, and supportive of Afa and WXW.
It was a complete surprise to everyone which was kept secret until he
arrived. His mom was there as well. What an incredible show!”

Eve Torres subbed as ring announcer for Justin Roberts today in Paris.
Presumably he caught an early flight home to announce at Monday’s Raw in
New York.

Steve Austin visits the UK next week for a promotional tour. He has
several TV and radio appearances lined up including Soccer AM on Sky
Sports.

The FCW show in Orlando on Friday night was canceled due to the ring
truck blowing a tire en route to the building.

The Boston Globe at http://tinyurl.com/ycv3uvk has a story on Kofi
Kingston
claiming he is from Jamaica (his family moved to the U.S. from
Ghana when he was an infant) but talking about him growing up in Boston
where he was a standout wrestler at Winchester High School

A story in the Hartford Courant at http://tinyurl.com/ycnnung claims
Linda McMahon is spending around $30 million on her Senate bid.

Courtney Taylor (Beverly Mullins), who hasn’t been seen on ECW since
Savannah (Angela Fong) took over her backstage interviewer role, is
currently on a leave of absence due to a personal issue.

Kip Christianson is the latest giant in WWE developmental. His ring name
is Eli Cottonwood and he is listed at 7-1, 320 pounds. His gimmick is a
lunatic who escaped an asylum.

A Northeast indy worker called Damien Darling made the final cut at the
recent WWE Deal or No Deal auditions in New Jersey. Apparently he was
ejected because he was walking around drunk and cutting promos on people
like he was The Iron Sheik. As he was escorted out by security he tossed
a glass bowl of candy on to the floor and took a swing at another fan.

Jeff Wilen at http://tinyurl.com/yc5zo7t passed along some photos from
The Miz and John Morrison’s upcoming appearance on Are You Smarter Than
A 5th Grader?

Gail Kim is advertised locally for Saturday’s TNA show at the O2 in
Dublin, Ireland. Apparently the building used posters from 2008 with an
updated graphic but are still listing Gail Kim’s name as appearing.

OTHER WRESTLING NEWS

Jim Cornette returned to Ring of Honor Saturday night in New York City.
He was announced as the new executive producer and cut a promo on Vince
Russo, including this gem in reference to his departure from TNA: “Sarah
Palin will give Barack Obama a lap dance on the steps of the capital
before I get behind Vince Russo”.

He worked the next night in New York with his arm in a cast.

Hulk Hogan via TMZ http://tinyurl.com/y8prgxj apologized to the Hell’s
Angels for using their name in the phone threat story he claims was a
prank. Hulk’s statement read: “The idea that I some how was making any
kind of threat against this individual is unfortunate. The voicemail was
a practical joke made in a friendly situation and nothing more. I have
respect for the Hells Angels and apologize for any undue publicity they
have received as a result of [the boyfriend] seeking his 15 seconds of
fame. I have also spoken to my friend and former Hells Angels member and
co-star of HBO’s hot series ‘Oz’ Chuck Zito, and explained to him that
there was no malicious intent.” Nice name drop at the end…

Entertainment Tonight at http://tinyurl.com/ybpy2rt also has a story on
Hogan and his girlfriend Jennifer McDaniel getting tattoos Friday night

her right wrist, while Hogan had “I am that, I am” inked on the outside
of his right forearm.

Former WWE Diva Ashley Massaro wrote on her Twitter page that she will
be shooting very soon for the cover of Playboy. She is also upset about
a medical bill that cost over $10,000 — I assume this was the
life-saving surgery she had on her leg last month.

Slam Wrestling at http://tinyurl.com/ycu4zp6 has a story on a wrestling
history exhibition at the University of Saskatchewan.

Wrestle Talk Radio tonight at www.wildtalkradio.com.
