Pro Wrestling: Between the Sheets

The first New Japan Pro Wrestling I ever saw was from a bootleg tape dealer (remember those things called tapes, everybody?).

I remember watching Chris Benoit and Jushin Liger working a match in the ring and and being absolutely blown away. I had a family member walk in the room this one day, who only knew wrestling as Hulk Hogan and the usual Titan Toon Adventures on Saturday mornings and afternoon (yup, folks, there was actually a time when there was no Monday Night RAW). She looked at the screen…actually stopped and watched some of their match, and said “This is really something different, isn’t it?”
Ya think?

TNA`s Jeremy Borash speaks to The Wrestling Press

Jeremy Borash has been speaking to TWP Magazine about the relationship between TNA and the United Kingdom, here’s what he had to say:

“The success we have had over here in the UK speaks volumes to other parts of the world. When we show our product to a new set of fans or when we leave the US it’s always important to us that we give the best show possible. The fan base here in the UK is honestly second to none.”

“For me I was so excited that we were going to be on freeview, just because of the amount of homes we can reach. I mean now we can be seen in 90% of homes in the UK, that’s huge.”

My Tribute to Miss Elizabeth

I don’t make it a habit to pay tribute to fallen wrestling personalities with a big article or column. That would be a full time job. But when I heard about the shocking news of Elizabeth’s passing, I felt compelled to say a few words in her honor.

Liz had more class than all the divas in the WWE combined, and then some. Elizabeth broke into the wrestling business as a shy, soft-spoken, stand-by-your-man valet. Even Randy Savage, who treated her like crap, always came back for more of Elizabeth’s sweet southern nature.

I’m not afraid to admit it, I had Elizabeth’s poster on my wall growing up. You know, that head shot with a ton of cleavage that made any man (or adolescent boy) drool with excitement. I even did my best to hand draw my version of the photograph (bare in mind I am not an artist).
