- Sheamus is set to leave WWE after a long 20 years tenure with the company. Sheamus in his career is one of three men to win King of the Ring, the Royal Rumble, and Money in the Bank (the others being Brock Lesnar and Edge).
- Sheamus is also a former U.S. Champion and Tag Team Champion, though has spent years chasing the Intercontinental Title to no avail.
- By the end of the year, Sheamus was the WWE Champion. He is a four-time World Champion, with his most recent reign being in 2015.
