UPCOMING AWF LIVE EVENTS

OCTOBER WRESTLEFEST
@ FAIRY MEADOW FRATERNITY CLUB
FRI 5 OCTOBER, 2007

The Australasian Wrestling Federation (AWF) makes its return to Fairy Meadow Fraternity Club to present “October Wrestlefest” on Friday 5 October with the largest evening of pro-wrestling action ever in Fairy Meadow, featuring Australia’s top professional wrestlers and international visitors.

The third event at Fairy Meadow for 2007 will showcase the best AWF has to offer in a variety of special feature bouts, to make the event a massive 7 bout super card.

The triple main event for the October Wrestlefest will see direct from the USA, the “Hardcore Icon”, Sabu, grace the Wollongong area for the very first time, when he collides with “Wicked Clown” Il Cognito. AWF Australasian Champion TNT will defend his title against Super Shenron of Japan, and Mark Hilton will face Dragon Gate Japan’s number one bad boy, Gamma.

In the first main event Sabu & Il Cognito will battle in an anything goes bout.
Sabu has wrestled all over the world and defeated the biggest names in WWE, ECW and TNA. He is the king of hardcore wrestling, and the most innovative hardcore highflier the wrestling business has ever seen. He has to be seen live to be truly appreciated, war scars and all, so don’t miss this chance to witness the hardcore legend, Sabu, in person.
Il Cognito has been on a rampage in AWF during 2007, terrorizing all comers and being a top ranked contender at all times. He is a former AWF Champion, and has much to gain from a win over the world travelled Sabu.
This bout will be wild and crazy to say the least, and anything can and will happen.

The second main event will see AWF’s top fan favourite Mark Hilton, battle Dragon Gate Japan’s most despised wrestler, Gamma.
This bout will be fast and furious, and will be a skillful display of exciting wrestling that both companies are renowned for. This will be a classic tale of good versus evil!

In the third main event, the AWF Australasian Championship Bout, Australia’s TNT will face Japan’s Super Shenron.
TNT has defeated all comers in singles competition in 2007. He defeated Dragon Gate Japan’s ace Cima for the AWF Title in January, and has remained Champion since. Last event in Fairy Meadow on 7 July, Team Dragon Gate defeated Team AWF in tag team action, so TNT is all fired up, and says he will be winning this one for Fairy Meadow and the AWF fans, as a form of retribution for last events loss.
Super Shenron comes to AWF with retribution on his mind also. He is looking to avenge a loss at the hands of TNT the last time the two met in Japan, and he is also looking to avenge his fellow Dragon Gate wrestler, Cima, who TNT defeated for the AWF Title.
This will be a fast paced and visually spectacular display of quality pro-wrestling no doubt, where the Championship will be on the line.

On the under card, Wollongong local, The Captain will meet the biggest test of his career when he faces Powerhouse Theo for the Young Lion’s Championship.
The Captain won the right for a title shot in his home town at the last Fairy Meadow event. After his victory he declared he would send Powerhouse Theo back to the pavillion all bowled out and hit for six, and he would become Wollongong’s first AWF Young Lion’s Champion.
Theo has been Young Lion’s Champion for almost 6 months, and he has been unstoppable to date. Theo takes on all comers, and says “I am ready for The Captain, caught and bowled out, for a duck!”
This will be an innings where the Captain will have to pull out his best figures, because it is all riding on the line to win this series.

Another huge under card is planned which will feature other intriguing and exciting match ups such as a The Surf Club defending the AWF Tag Team Titles against former champions The Platinum Players. Steve Ravenous will collide with hard man Jay Law, and Mike Vandal will battle Billy Flyswat in Young Lion’s action.

In addition to the October Wrestlefest Live event, there will be the October Wrestlefest Extra Meet and Greet. Fans will be able to ask the wrestlers questions, obtain autographs and photos, and get up close to the AWF stars.

“AWF October Wrestlefest” is sure to be great evening packed with surprises galore, so if you are looking for a fun night out be sure to make it along and support the Australasian Wrestling Federation at Fairy Meadow Fraternity Club.

We advise to book early to avoid disappointment as recent AWF events have been turn away sell outs.

Gamma is the more experienced of the two, and is not afraid to bend the rules and win at all costs.
Theo has the drive and determination to defeat any man, and will do what he has to do to win also.
This will be a colossus battle of two powerful wrestling forces.

In a fast paced Young Lion’s bout, three way action will take the stage, with Japan’s Super Shenron, battling former Young Lion’s Champion’s, Kid Dynamite & Billy Flyswat. This bout promises to be high flying and spectacular, with all men looking for victory to move up the rankings and prove who is the premier lightweight in AWF.

The events will showcase the best AWF has to offer in a variety of special feature bouts, with each show being a 7 bout super card.

Wrestling stars scheduled to appear include:

AWF Australasian Champion- TNT: TNT has been red hot in 2007. In January he became AWF Australasian Champion by defeating Japan’s Cima. In March he won the AWA World Title from USA’s Steve Corino. For the remainder of 2007 he has faced the best competition in the world, taking former world champions such as Bryan Danielson, Austin Aries, and Sabu to their limits. TNT likes to finish his opponents off with his “Detonator” finishing move, and can’t wait to explode onto the Central Coast and meet the fans and defend his AWF Championship.

Direct from USA- Raven: Raven is a former NWA and ECW World Champion, and is one of the most renowned independent wrestlers in the business. He uses a combination of psychology and hardcore wrestling to wear down opponents, and likes to deliver his Even Flow DDT to finish them off. Raven has 20 years experience wrestling and has wrestled in WWE, and currently wrestles for TNA in the USA.

AWF Young Lion’s Champion- Powerhouse Theo: Powerhouse Theo is the premier under 25 year old wrestler in Australia, winning his championship in March, and defeating all comers since. Theo uses his strength and high impact moves to crush opponents, and enjoys using “The Power Bomb” to attain victory.

AWF Tag Team Champion’s- The Surf Club: Adam Hoffman & Scotty Club, joined by beach babe, Bodacious Bo form “The Surf Club”. Scotty & Adam are the current Tag Team Champions and are riding the wave defending against the top teams in the AWF. A Beach Party is headed to the Central Coast!

The Platinum Players: Steve Ravenous, JT Robinson & Kid Dynamite combine to form the wrestling gang collectively known as “The Platinum Players”. All three members like to cause havoc on AWF events, breaking the rules and opponents.

Billy Flyswat: The Central Coast’s AWF representative, technical wrestling whiz Billy Flyswat is one of the most talented wrestlers in Australia, and has used his skills and tactics to take it to the best in AWF. Flyswat is often under rated by his opponents as he lacks the size of many of his foes, however he makes up for it in skills and shear heart as he has upset many larger opponents using crafty ring tactics and his hook fly and sinker neck breaker. AWF WRESTLING

PRO-WRESTLING SHOWDOWN

SYDNEY, NSW

SUN 21 OCTOBER, 2007

The Australasian Wrestling Federation (AWF) debuts at The Factory Theatre in Enmore, NSW to present “Pro-Wrestling Showdown” on Sunday 21 October with a huge afternoon of pro-wrestling action, featuring Australia’s top professional wrestlers and international visitor from the USA, TNA Wrestling star Raven.

AWF Pro-Wrestling Showdown Sydney promises to be a memorable afternoon, and will mark the first event at the start of the art Factory Theatre. The event itself will feature fantastic production and showcase the best AWF has to offer in a variety of special bouts, in over 2 hours of hard hitting, non stop action, suitable for the whole family.

The main event for the Pro-Wrestling Showdown in Sydney will pit current TNA Wrestling Superstar, Raven, against the three men known as “The Platinum Players” in a three on one “Raven’s Rules” gauntlet match.

The 3 on 1 “Raven’s Rules Gauntlet Match” has come about when The Players received word that Raven would be touring for AWF and they invited him to come and see the Sydney nightlife with them. Raven scoffed at them and said he didn’t want to hang out at RNB Clubs with a bunch of Vanilla Ice wannabees. This infuriated The Players gang and Steve Ravenous challenged Raven to a bout in Sydney. Raven accepted and asked for it to be under “Raven’s Rules” in which the Player’s tried to back out of. JT Robinson then suggested that they accept on the condition that all three Players can have a crack at beating Raven. Raven accepted the challenge, and therefore at Pro-Wrestling Showdown at The Factory fans will see a “Raven’s Rules” gauntlet match, where he will face not only Steve Ravenous, but also Kid Dynamite and JT Robinson, 1 VS 3!. This match will surely see the odds stacked against Raven, however he has vowed that he will defeat the Players one by one and introduce them to his clockwork orange house of fun.

Raven is a former NWA and ECW World Champion, and is one of the most renowned independent wrestlers in the business. He uses a combination of psychology and hardcore wrestling to wear down opponents, and likes to deliver his Even Flow DDT to finish them off. Raven has 20 years experience wrestling, and knows every dirty trick in the book and will be prepared for the 3 on one onslaught.

The Platinum Players are Steve Ravenous, JT Robinson and Kid Dynamite. Steve Ravenous is a former AWF Australasian Champion, and JT Robinson & Kid Dynamite are the former AWF Tag Team Champions. The Players as a group are the most cohesive unit in Australian wrestling, and have a message for Raven : “Be ready to come out and play, because we are going to fry you like the bird you are, take your name and end your day! Quote the Players, Platinum!”.

In title match action the AWF Australasian Championship will be on the line in a NSW versus VIC interstate bout pitting friends and sometimes tag team partners TNT and Mad Dog Mcrea against each other.

TNT and Mcrea have met each other in past years, the last time they met ending in a double pin draw in 2004. Since then both men’s careers have grown, Mad Dog winning the JCW World Title, TNT becoming AWF Australasian Champion. Both competitors have even traveled Japan together, so know each others skills well, but will hold nothing back as the AWF Title will be up for grabs and the Sydney versus Melbourne rivalry will be strong. This promises to be a wild and exciting bout with a lot on the line for both warriors.

In other title defences Young Lion’s Champion Powerhouse Theo will battle gothic like vampire Zander Bathory, AWF Tag Team Champions “The Surf Club”: Adam “Dr Waxhead” Hoffman & Scotty Club will face the team of the corrupt Jay Law and “Butcher of Beruit” Lebo Ceda.

Other action on the card will see heavyweight action with the massively muscled Taipan taking on a mystery opponent, three way action with Chris X Vs Mike Vandal Vs Billy Flyswat, tag team action pitting Il Cognito & Massive Q Vs Pub Rockers plus many surprises on the afternoon.

In addition to the Pro-Wrestling Showdown Live event, there will be the Pro-Wrestling Showdown Meet and Greet. Fans will be able to ask the wrestlers questions, obtain autographs and photos, and get up close to Raven, TNT, The Platinum Players and other the AWF stars.

“AWF Pro-Wrestling Showdown” is sure to be great afternoon packed with surprises galore, so if you are looking for a fun day out be sure to make it along and support the Australasian Wrestling Federation at The Factory Theatre in Enmore.

We advise to book early to avoid disappointment as recent AWF events have been turn away sell outs.
