New England Championship Wrestling proudly presents the 5th Annual IRON 8 Championship Tournament, Saturday night, May 31 at the National Guard Armory, 1000 Hancock Street, Quincy, MA. Bell time is 7:00 PM.
NECW officials have announced a bonus match added to this event!
The IRON 8 is the most unique tournament in pro wrestling. Described as the ultimate test of skill, stamina and strategy, it presents eight great athletes with an unusual challenge. It begins with the 8 selected wrestlers competing in an opening round consisting of four singles matches. The winners then face each other in a 4 way, 45 minute iron man match. Whoever scores the most pinfalls or submissions in 45 minutes wins the match and is that year’s IRON 8 Champion. It is an athletic test unlike any other, and the victor truly proves he is an iron man.
The 8 IRON 8 contestants are: “Die Hard” Eddie Edwards, who has won the last two tournaments and is a former 4 time NECW Tag Team Champion; Gran Akuma, representing Chikara Pro Wrestling; “The Japanese Nightmare” Kahagus from Florida; Last year’s finalist, “The Real Deal” Brandon Locke; Team Cairo member, Scott Osbourne; a participant from last year’s tournament former NECW Tag Team Champion and current top contender for the NECW Triple Crown Championship, Antonio “The Promise” Thomas; a former NECW Television Champion and 3 time former NECW Tag Team Champion, “The Exotic” Kristian Frost; and finally, former ECW and TNA star, Julio Dinero.
The bonus match just announced could be a main event on its own. It will be a special mixed tag team Champion’s challenge, pitting NECW Triple Crown Champion, “The Mowhawked Enforcer” Max Bauer and “The Gorgeous Greek” Elektra Arion against former NECW Triple Crown Champion, Big Rick Fuller and current World Women’s Wrestling Champion, “The Portuguese Princess” Ariel.
