  3. NECW “Winter Wonderslam” Results 1/19

New England Championship Wrestling debuted this past Saturday night at the National Guard Armory in Dorchester, MA for WINTER WONDERSLAM.In the opening contest, the returning “Sweet” Scott Ashworth pinned Scott Osbourne.

In the debut of Pat’s Pit hosted by Pat “The Brat” Piper, Piper’s guest was former NECW Triple Crown Champion “The Human Nightmare” Evan Siks. Piper asked Siks about his upcoming title shot with current champion “Big” Rick Fuller and how he could stay focused with Michael Sain constantly interfering in his matches. Evan replied that he was having trouble keeping focused and that Sain was had gotten in his head. Sain charged from the back and laid waste to Siks, until “Nightmare” Nick Steel ran out to square off with Sain. Sain felt it better to leave the ring and slowly return to the back. Siks was assisted to the locker rooms by both Piper and Steel and then transported to a local medical facility for observation.

In the final quarterfinal match in the NECW Tag Team Tournament, The Weapons of Masked Destruction (Kreeper and Iraqnid) defeated Bryce Andrews and Vain Valentino (subbing for BK Jordan). Andrews was very visibly unhappy with much of his substitute partner’s efforts and turned on him, leaving him to be pinned by Kreeper.

In a special tag team grudge match, Sabotage (“Die Hard” Eddie Edwards and DC Dillinger) with Sean Gorman faced “The Golden Greek” Alex Arion and “The Infamous” Bobby Fish. Sabotage attacked Arion with a chair before the match and Fish ran to his rescue. “The Golden Greek” recovered enough to participate in the match, but was left weakened by the attack and was eventually pinned by DC Dillinger, while Fish and Edwards brawled all the way back to the dressing room.

The next match was a special World Women’s Wrestling championship match. WWW Champion Lexxus defeated The Portuguese Princess Ariel when she reversed an electric chair drop into a victory roll to retain the coveted red and gold belt. One Ariel fan was so upset at this result that he literally stormed from the armory slamming the door on his way out, showing the loyalty of the fans of the popular “Portuguese Princess”.

It was announced that due to the injury of Evan Siks, a fan in attendance would pick the opponent of “Big” Rick Fuller from a lot containing the names of all the competitors present at that night’s event. A young boy picked the name of Jason Blade from those in the blind draw.

Antonio “The Promise” Thomas came to the ring for his match with “Wild Boy” Billy King. Before the match Thomas told the fans and King that he was so focused on “Straight Edge” Brian Fury that tonight, despite King being a very talented former NECW Tag Team Champion, his name would be Brian Fury. King did a great job trying to keep up with “The Promise”, but the veteran appeared to have the upper hand. Thomas seemed to have the match won with his rolling reverse neck breaker, but when he opted to attempt a second, Brian Fury’s music played. Thomas dropped King and watched the entranceway calling for Fury. King recovered slowly and stunned “The Promise” and the fans by rolling up Thomas and securing a huge upset singles victory.

In the main event, “Big” Rick Fuller overcame the determination and talent of Jason Blade to retain the NECW Triple Crown following his reverse back breaker choke slam.
