WRESTLING MAKES LONG AWAITED RETURN TO CLOVERDALE

With mere hours to go, wrestling’s return to Cloverdale is shaping up to be an unforgettable night as some of the best internationally travelled stars prepare to invade the long established mecca of wrestling on the Pacific Coast. Saturday May 26th marks wrestling’s return to the Cloverdale Fairgrounds at the Alice MacKay building.

The main event pits All Star Wrestling alumnus Chi Chi Cruz against the seven foot monster Cremator. In this battle of wrestling experience vs. raw unorthodox power, industry insiders are actively debating where the advantage lies in this one. Will Cruz’ 22 years of experience give him the advantage? Or will he succumb to the unbridled rage of the most under-rated heavyweight in North American Rings? This showdown promises to be a battle of epic proportions.

All eyes of the industry are on the match pitting two of wrestling’s hottest prospects in the same ring. Burnaby’s Harv Sihra has captured the attention of the community as he sets out for the biggest test of his career against Edmonton’s Bobby Sharp. Both youngsters come to Cloverdale with high acclaim from some of the most respected veterans in this country and both are looking for a victory to further propel their status in Canadian wrestling circles.

This debut card is also expected to resolve an ongoing rivalry as Lethbridge, Alberta’s Canadian Dream makes his first trip to the west coast to gain a measure of revenge against “Mr. Beefy Goodness” Vance Nevada.

These men have met in some of 2006’s roughest matches in the Dream’s home promotion of Power Zone Wrestling with neither securing a decisive win. Both are headed to Cloverdale to determine which is the better man, once and for all.

Tag team action will be featured on the card when Vancouver area favorite Johnny Obsession teams with Cape Breton’s Duke MacIsaac. Obsession, who has been seen in select engagements in the lower mainland in recent years, has had impressive showings in solo competition but welcomes the challenge presented by his first foray into tag team competition. For this occasion, Obsession could not have found a better partner than the East Coast cocker, Duke MacIsaac. The Duke has been wrestling professionally for six years, primarily on the east coast and is one of the most endeared figures in that part of the country. In his west coast debut, MacIsaac is looking for an early victory to kickstart this new chapter in his career.

Their foes in this team challenge are partially a mystery. We do know that the team will be captained by the “Mastermind” Barry Goode. Goode has campaigned across western Canada and into the remote communities of northern Manitoba already this year and is evasive about his plans for Cloverdale.

Goode won’t confirm his partner, or if he will even step into the ring himself or simply elect to manage the team. What Goode will confirm is that wrestling fans are sure to be surprised.

Another double tough customer headed to Cloverdale is the 300+ pound Cree Warrior, Jesse Youngblood. His May 26th appearance will mark his first match in BC for three years and he is anxious to show fans how much bigger and better he is since he was last here. “Bring on your biggest and best” he challenges, “but be prepared to see ’em get slaughtered.”

This card will be rounded out with a few more of wrestling’s best from across the country for a night of action which guarantees to be second to none.

In addition to a night of great action fans will be supporting two great community organizations. Ticket proceeds from the May 26th card will jointly benefit the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Squadron (Grisle) and the Speediatrics Dragonboat Team. To support these groups, get your advance tickets here.

Doors open at 7:30 pm and the action gets underway at 8:00. Rush seating is in effect for all seats so fans will want to get there early to get the best access to all the action.

We’ll see you in Cloverdale, don’t ya dare miss it!!
