Dykes once observed that three young wrestlers, Les Wolff, Bob Armstrong & Paul Jones, were working hard at their craft and if their heath held, and they maintained focus and kept their egos in perspective they would be among the top wrestlers in America in a very few years. He was right.

 

In 1972: Paul Jones made his Atlanta debut defeating Billy Spears. Jones became the first wrestler to hold the Florida Heavyweight, Television and Brass Knucks titles at the same time. Jones won the Florida TV title defeating Bob Roop, The Great Malenko and Hiro Matsuda in the same night.

Also in Florida 1972: Jones won a non title match from Dory Funk Jr. literally punching Funk out with straight punches between the eyes.
