  • Howard (Pepper) Martin was named after the early century baseball player Pepper Martin.
  • Pepper Martin did a lot of acting in movies and appeared in The Longest Yard and Superman II among others.
  • Pepper Martin played a hitman from the bar, The Lucky Spot, who was killed by Joe Don Baker in the original Walking Tall.
  • ~~~Baker, who never wrestled, played a retired wrestler turned lawman, while Martin was indeed a retired wrestler turned actor.
  • For a while, Pepper Martin co-commentated for Big Time Wrestling out of San Francisco, alongside Hank Renner.
  • 1965: Pepper Martin received a major push in the Oregon territory, feuding extensively with Pat Patterson.
