Here are some of the highlights from Mike Tenay’s appearance on the show, provided by MNM listener, Daniel 1991 & The Mayhem’s co-host, The Big Mosh.

=====================================================================================================

Total Nonstop Action is gearing up this weekend for its final Pay-Per-View of 2007, Turning Point. “Your Home Of Wrestling Radio” welcomed back to the program is one of its very own Hall Of Famers for the first time in over a year & a half…the “voice of TNA,” Mike Tenay.

Mosh, Blade, & Mike exchange pleasantries & holiday wishes, and “The Professor” reminds the listening audience that Monday Night Mayhem is truly one of the most loyal programs to TNA, and that both entities have been going strong since Day One of Total Nonstop Action. What separates TNA from other companies is that they do not lose sight of those that have helped in making their success to this point in time, and The Mayhem has been vital to the development & immense of TNA and vice-versa as well.

With the official announcement of TNA invading Greenville, SC for “Against All Odds,” Mosh asked Mike about what the likelihood of TNA PPV’s hitting some other markets in the United States, especially in the northeast (with cities such as Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Toronto, or Buffalo). Mike said that with the success of Bound For Glory in Detroit in 2006 & this year with Lockdown in St. Louis, Slammiversary in Nashville, and Atlanta for this year’s installment of Bound For Glory (which he described as his favorite show of the year), he very much looks forward to more strides in the new year, and being able to spend more weekends in new & different cities with the fans of TNA Wrestling. Mike sees at least half if not more of the Pay-Per-View events being outside of The iMPACT Zone in Orlando, FL. He also wishes to commend the talent, the production crew, & those in the office for making TNA’s 2007 a memorable one for all involved, and also gives the company credit as a whole for staying the course and remembering the importance of “learning to walk before you can run.”

Mike sees Booker T’s signing with TNA as ” a perfect pit” on so many fronts. After working with him & his wife (Sharmell) for so many years in WCW, with the amount of respect he has for the both of them, he sees Booker’s career as “coming full circle” and a definite rejuvenation. “Everything is there for him in TNA to accomplish.” Mike sees nothing but great things ahead for Booker, and he compares Booker’s entrance into TNA on par with Sting, Christian Cage, & Kurt Angle.

On the flip side, he does not know where Sting will land up — whether it be re-signing with TNA, heading to the WWE, or retirement. “The door is open for Sting to return to TNA, and the company would welcome his return.” With regards to the much talked-about discussion of “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair‘s swansong & the possibility of Sting working Flair in a final “dream match,” Tenay strongly believes that Sting is not one of those in the business to look back repeatedly at his legacy and wonder what else does he need to accomplish before he decides to call it quits. He does not think that is Sting’s personal make-up.

Mike remembers “the glory years” of WCW, and feels that TNA follows in some of the more fond memories/creative ideas of World Championship Wrestling in today’s TNA: the mix of the main-event stars, tag team wrestling, & the cruiserweight style which has molded into the X-Division. Going forward, Mike believes that a lot of positives will come from having involvement on all levels from those in the company working together, such as Samoa Joe teaming up with Kevin Nash & Scott Hall this Sunday night at Turning Point. In the long run, he does not get tired of the comparisons of TNA to WCW from the hardcore fanatics. Certain fans have the presumption that those on the internet represents the masses, which is not the case, with millions of people viewing TNA Wrestling around the world.

The brand-new TNA “Year One” company retrospect has been selling very well, with some retail stores selling out and/or being on backorder. He enjoyed being a part of the DVD project, reminiscing on some of the early years in TNA with those in the extended family…especially with the fact that many in the wrestling scene did not think TNA would be around for several weeks or months. TNA was such a big underdog when it started up, and he credits the establishment of the Wednesday night PPV’s helping the company get to where it is right now, as well as getting TV deals on FOX Sports Net & on Spike TV. Mike also went on with Mosh & Blade on this very subject, and responds to his critics in his exclusive interview with The Mayhem!

Blade & Mosh talked about the emergence of Kaz as a main-event player in TNA over the past few months, with his “Fight For The Right” Tournament Final Ladder Match with Christian Cage & his TNA World Title shot against Kurt Angle. Mike thinks it’s too early to say “who will be the one to match” in 2k8 for TNA Wrestling, but has been thoroughly impressed with the energy of Kaz & his workrate over the past few months in the company, and quite possibly what could very well be his two best career matches to date. Mike also went on to mention a very interesting story about one an on-sale autograph session for a WCW event in San Diego, CA, and how one of the fans in line told Mike very boldly that “someday you will call one of my matches.” That man turned out to be none other than Kaz himself.

From a creative & television standpoint, Mike thinks that 2008 will be a year of growth & improvement. The brand & the product needs to continue to develop on all fronts, and he believes that with TNA being here to stay with the relationship with Spike TV, the wrestling fans who have not wanted to latch on or commit to TNA will do so in this new year.

This interview with Mike also includes his uncensored comments/thoughts on the critics of TNA saying the company “needs to advance faster,” the chances of Hulk Hogan still coming to Total Nonstop Action Wrestling & whether the door has closed on “The Immortal One” returning to wrestling, Bob Saget’s humor, whether or not TNA should sign Chris Masters, & does TNA spell out RVD in 2008?

Make sure you head on over to www.TNAWrestling.com to get more information on how you can be a part of the February “Against All Odds” PPV in Greenville, SC, where to find the latest “Don West Holiday Specials,” & how to vote for the 2007 TNA Year-End Awards, in addition to all of the late-breaking details on this weekend’s TNA Turning Point PPV. Also, don’t miss “The Road To Genesis” special, this evening (December 1st), at 11PM ET — only on Spike TV.

The first place winner (who predicts all of the matches accordingly leading into the event) will receive a “Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels T-Shirt & a $25.00 credit to B. Brown Video (the official wrestling video & DVD distribution company of The Mayhem) & a case of Sweet Sunshine Sauces, and the second place winner will get a $15.00 credit to B. Brown Video & a case of Sweet Sunshine Sauces…the official finishing sauce of The Mayhem!

*The official close to the “Monday Night Mayhem November To Remember” also features an in-depth preview of the latest Ring Of Honor Pay-Per-View, “Man-Up” (debuting this weekend on PPV), with G-Funk Sports & Entertainment’s Ken Gelman. This return appearance of Ken to The ‘Ham does not do this event justice. Take the necessary time in the coming days to view what many in the wrestling business (including The Mayhem’s very own Big Mosh & Blade) one of the best Pay-Per-Views of the year! Ladder War anyone???

Plus, one of the toughest athletes to spend his career in the hometown of The Mayhem (Buffalo, NY) made his way to The Mayhem. Former Buffalo Sabre enforcer, current MSG broadcaster, & the author of the brand-new book, “Rayzor’s Edge: Rob Ray’s Tough Life On The Ice” (courtesy: www.SportsPublishingLLC.com), Rob Ray.

Now, many of you might be wondering, why Rob Ray on The Mayhem, a primarily wrestling-themed radio show? Well, in addition to quite possibly being one of the toughest players in NHL history who very well could have made it as a professional wrestler, Ray played parts of 14 NHL seasons, 13 with the Buffalo Sabres. Known as an enforcer throughout his career, the NHL awarded Ray the King Clancy Memorial Trophy for his leadership and humanitarian contributions in the Buffalo & Western New York area in 1999. After his retirement in 2004, Ray returned to Buffalo where he currently works as a contributor to Sabres television broadcasts.

And as The Mayhem continues its affiliation with Fathead to give away World Wrestling Entertainment superstar Fatheads throughout the month of December, now fans of the National Hockey League can get into the action by winning some Buffalo Sabres Fatheads! Congratulations go out to Jason Knowles of West Seneca, NY who won one this past week, and we still have one more to give away in the coming days ahead! For more information on this contest & The Mayhem’s partnership with Fathead, check out the official MNM MySpace & Message Board (respectfully located at www.MySpace.com/MondayNightMayhem & www.MondayNightMayhem.com).

That’s right, WrestleCrap.com’s very own RD Reynolds will be returning to the program for the first time in three years. One of the most opinionated voices in all of wrestling has a brand-new book that is now available just in time for Christmas, Hanukkah, & Kwanza — the WrestleCrap Book Of Lists! (now available at your favorite bookstore, through www.Amazon.com, & www.ECWPress.com). Want to know the 25 worst gimmicks in wrestling history, the greatest mullets in the business, & other “craptacular” pieces of wrestling goodness…then this is the interview to listen to & the book to purchase. Plus, RD will join Mosh & Blade in breaking down the worst moments of 2007 that could very well be inducted as WrestleCrap.

If you thought The Mayhem’s celebrity appearances this year were great (with Dustin “Screech” Diamond, VH-1’s Greg Fitzsimmons, Mad-TV’s Aries Spears, & former Buffalo Sabres enforcer/NHL broadcaster Rob Ray), then hold onto your keyboards & fasten your seatbelts! The most anticipated interview in the almost six-year history of Monday Night Mayhem is coming your way in mere hours! Recent fans may remember him from FOX’s “Skating With Celebrities & VH-1’s “The Surreal Life.” But old-school fans remember him from Nickelodeon’s “Out Of Control,” ABC’s “America’s Funniest People,” & most noticeably from the long-running ABC sitcom, “Full House” as Joey Gladstone. That’s right, Dave Coulier will be htting ‘The Ham airwaves just in time for the holidays to talk about his new project, www.CleanGuys.TV. Check out www.MySpace.com/CleanGuys to find where Dave & his comedian crew will be headed your way in the upcoming new year!
