ROH debut

Jason Namako’s Ring of Honor TV Review
June 3, 2015
Recap by: Jason Namako of Wrestleview.com

Today, June 3, 2015, marked the biggest day in the 13-year history of Ring of Honor as they just made their debut on national TV via Destination America with their first of four shows taped in Toronto, Canada, that will be shown on TV over the next four weeks heading into Ring of Honor’s next PPV, Best in the World, on June 19 from New York City. How did Ring of Honor do for a first impression on a brand new network with a lot of new eyes on the product? Stick out your hand for a virtual Code of Honor and let’s get to things, shall we?

Briscoes opening promo – Simple, to the point hype for tonight’s main event by #DemBoys. Not much more you can ask for to kick things off.

KUSHIDA vs. Will Ferrara – Fun opening contest between a rising New Japan junior star in KUSHIDA and a high potential ROH prospect in Ferrara. There is still lots to develop with Ferrara’s overall presentation and performance, but in due time, he will be someone to look out for in the next couple of years.

The Addiction ringside promo – Easy to follow build for next week’s ROH Tag Title return match between Addiction and former champs reDRagon. Addiction delving back into their Bad Influence playbook with the “World Tag Team Champions of the World” moniker and “We allow you to worship us now” punchline is a nice touch to their recent character change in ROH and highlight how much more suited Daniels & Kazarian are as a heel team as they never really got their legs under them as babyfaces in ROH prior to the recent turn.

Silas Young vs. Watanabe – Solid match, Watanabe was very impressive here, especially with his interactions with the Toronto crowd, who were not into him during the Global Wars iPPV the night before this taping. However, Watanabe was able to get the crowd behind him towards the end, before falling to the veteran heel in Silas, who tacks on another win to his belt.
