It’s Sunday night, and the time is right to build a Dynasty…welcome to AEW Dynasty!
So far, it seems the main show is NOT struggling with audio sync issues tonight. Thank goodness, as we head to ringside where the commentary welcomes us to the show while the Young Bucks make their entrance for our opening contest. Out next is Konosuke Takeshita, followed by the AEW International Champion as Kazuchika Okada makes his way to the ring before we get this match underway!
The Young Bucks (Nick Jackson and Matt Jackson) vs. The Don Callis Family (Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita)
We start off with Takeshita and Nick, with the Alpha quickly taking control before Okada tags in for a double-team. He stares Konosuke down before going back to work on Nick, taking him down before mocking Matt. Takeshita comes in for an assist as Nick starts to fight back, taking both men down before tagging in Matt.
The Bucks take out Okada before Takeshita comes in, and they take him down with a combo German suplex sunset flip before clotheslining him to the outside. Okada heads around the ring but both men take a dive from Nick. Bucks bring Takeshita back into the ring and set up for an Indytaker, with Nick dodging a dropkick by Okada before taking the Alpha to the mat…but Okada takes Nick to the outside as Takeshita gets a nearfall on Matt.
The crowd lets Don Callis know what they think of him as Takeshita lays out Matt with a clothesline before tagging in Okada…who distracts the ref while Takeshita brings Matt to the announce table, where Callis tries to gouge out Matt’s eye! Takeshita brings him back to the ring where Okada sends him to the corner for a boot to the face.
Okada drops Matt to the, uh, mat for a two count before tagging in Takeshita, but the Buck fends them off from the corner before sending them out of the ring…but Takeshita keeps him from making a tag, pulling Matt out of the ring before Matt fights back with a stunner. He slides into the ring but we see Okada take Nick off the apron, mocking his former friends by putting on the headband and arm tassels. He steps onto the apron, offering a “tag” to Matt before flipping him off…and Matt responds by sending him off the apron to the floor!
Takeshita comes after him now, with Okada joining in before Matt takes both men down with a bulldog and a tag to Nick. Okada and Takeshita send him to the ropes but he fights back sending Konosuke to the corner. Nick turns things around some more as he sends Okada to the canvas, following up with a cutter for a nearfall before the Alpha breaks it up.
Okada and Takeshita send the Bucks to the apron but the Bucks come back around with a pair of Sharpshooters (Buckshooters?)…but Okada and Takeshita start slapping each other to keep them from passing out, and they both reach the ropes for a break!
Okada is out of the ring as the Bucks go after Takeshita, only for Okada to come back in for a backbreaker before he takes a superkick to the face. Bucks send Konosuke to the mat as well as Okada, and a double splash only gets them a two count as Takeshita kicks out. Bucks set up for a TK Driver but Okada gets involved, and he and Takeshita drop the Bucks with a pair of tombstone piledrivers. Takeshita makes the pin but only gets a two count.
Matt gets set up on the turnbuckle, where he starts to fight off Okada and Takeshita. Konosuke catches Matt with an avalanche German suplex, but Nick comes in for the save as he lands a dropkick on Takeshita. He takes a boot to the face by Okada as Takeshita lands a Power Drive Knee on Matt, but Nick shoves Okada onto the Alpha to break up the pin!
Okada manages to get a tag as he goes after Matt, setting up for an elbow drop before giving the people a bird salute. He sets up for a Rainmaker lariat, but Matt fights it. Tombstone attempt is stopped with a kick by Nick, before he goes for a German suplex on Okada. Takeshita with a waistlock of his own, but it’s Matt who finishes the combo with a sunset flip sending the rest to the canvas!
Takeshita is back up as he goes after Matt, but Nick lands a Canadian Destroyer off his brother’s back…only for both Bucks to take a knee strike from the Alpha. Okada is back in as all four men go at it in the middle of the ring, exchanging strikes. Konsouke and Okada back up into each other and this leads to a confrontation…which quickly boils over as they trade shots on each other! Matt comes in to take advantage, but the pair turn their attention to him instead…until Okada nearly levels Takeshita with a Rainmaker!
This allows Matt to roll up Okada for two, and the Bucks dodge a knee from Takeshita that lands on Okada instead. Bucks take control here, until Okada goes after Matt with another Rainmaker…that takes out the Alpha by mistake! Bucks hit a BTE Trigger but it’s only good for two. They set up for a TK Driver but Takeshita grabs the ankle of Nick…only to decide to let go, allowing the Bucks to connect with the TK Driver for the win!
Winners via pinfall: The Young Bucks
Bucks celebrate before leaving the ring, allowing Takeshita to flip off Okada before he leaves the ring as well. Callis enters the ring to check on Okada as we go to a video package highlighting the return of Jericho as he faces Ricochet tonight on Dynasty!
We return to ringside as The Demand make their entrance, GOA accompanying Ricochet on the way to the ring for our next match. Nice pop for Jericho as he makes his entrance, with (a good chunk of) the crowd singing along to his theme on his way to the ring. I continue to ponder where his first name went to as Jericho enters the ring. Crowd chants his name as we get this match underway!
Jericho vs. Ricochet
We start off slow as Jericho soaks in the adulation of the fans in Vancouver, before he and Ricochet circle the match. Jericho with an arm drag to send the inaugural National Champion to the canvas, and this garners a “you still got it” chant. He responds by talking to the nearby camera that he “never lost it” before Ricochet goes after the inaugural AEW World Champion. Jericho responds to the “bald” chants by acknowledging the lack of hair on his opponent’s head.
Jericho asks for the camera as Ricochet gives out to the ref, and Jericho lets us know that, indeed, Ricochet is bald. Thanks Jericho, I had no clue. Anyway, Ricochet catches him with a side headlock before heading to the ropes, but Jericho dodges his offense as Ricochet tries to show off…only to take a big chop from Jericho. Ricochet tries to fight back, but he takes a dropkick from Jericho instead…but the former World Champion is so distracted playing to the crowd that he gets sent to the apron by Ricochet!
“You’re still bald” chants as Ricochet and Jericho fight it out on the apron…until Ricochet lands a Death Valley Driver sending Jericho onto the hardest part of the ring! Ref checks on Jericho who is slowly stirring, and we see Bishop Kaun standing nearby as the ref reaches a count of nine before Jericho slides back into the ring…only to leave it once more, breaking the count. He’s favoring his arm and the ref checks on him, but Ricochet sees his opening as he goes after that arm by sending Jericho into the ring steps.
Ricochet brings his opponent back into the ring and goes after him in the corner with a low dropkick, mocking the fans before stomping away at Jericho. He continues going to work on Jericho, driving him against the ropes to the chagrin of the crowd. Jericho fights back with some chops, but takes a boot to the face by Ricochet before being brought back to the ropes. He is pulled away from the ropes by the ref, and Jericho seems to be trying to get the feeling back in his arm…which gives an opening for Liona to go after his arm instead!
Ricochet looks to continue this beatdown, but takes a boot from the corner allowing Jericho to get to the ropes. He evades a dropkick from Ricochet, and sets up for a Lionsault to a pop from the crowd. He takes Ricochet back down for the Walls…but Ricochet fights back, sending him to the corner. Jericho brings him back to the canvas, mocking him by putting his hair over Ricochet’s face as the crowd cheers. He lands a spinal tap and heads to the corner, only to be intercepted by Ricochet who goes for a locomotion suplex.
Jericho manages to counter out, and he goes for the Walls as Liona hops on the apron to distract the ref. Kaun sends Jericho to the corner before sneaking out of the ring, and Ricochet gets a two count. He sends Jericho back down hard but only gets another nearfall before Jericho kicks out. Crowd chanting “Y2J” and this helps Jericho fire back up, and he drops Ricochet with a Codebreaker for a close two count.
Ricochet starts to fight back but is sent to the corner for some chops by Jericho, who sends him across the ring before propping him up on the middle turnbuckle for some mounted punches and a hurricanrana. Ricochet blocks a Codebreaker, sending him into the corner for a pair of kicks and a set of suplexes into the Vertigo…but it’s only good for a nearfall!
Ricochet heads to the corner, climbing up top…but Jericho intercepts him. Chop by Jericho, but Ricochet bites him on the nose to knock him away. He leaps off the top rope for a shooting star press…right into a Codebreaker by Jericho! Jericho with the cover…and Ricochet narrowly kicks out before three!
“This is awesome” chant as Jericho heads to the corner, calling for Ricochet to get up…only to send him back down, setting up for the Walls of Jericho! Ricochet crawls toward the ropes for the break but Jericho keeps him down…until GOA get involve, allowing Ricochet to be pulled to the ropes. Jericho fights back, sending all three men to the outside for a dive off the top turnbuckle as the crowd cheers.
He sends Liona into the barricade and lands a Judas Effect on Bishop…but Toa fights back to level him with a clothesline before sending him back into the ring. Shooting star press connects by Ricochet, but Jericho once again manages to kick out just in time.
Ricochet is back up and he lands the Spirit Gun on Jericho…but he stops his own pinfall as GOA calls for him to do some more damage. Sure enough, he adds insult to injury by landing a Lionsault on the man formerly known as Lionheart for the win!
Winner via pinfall: Ricochet
Ricochet celebrates with GOA as we get a video package hyping up the match between Darby Allin and Andrade El Idolo up next. If Darby can win this match he will get a future shot at the AEW World Championship, regardless of who leaves Dynasty as the champ!
We head back to ringside as Andrade El Idolo makes his entrance, followed by Darby Allin to get this match underway!
Andrade El Idolo vs. Darby Allin
The two start to lock up until Andrade sends Darby to the corner. Allin fights back for a side headlock as El Idolo tries to fight out of it. Darby wrings his arm for a hammerlock, until El Idolo turns it around for a surfboard stretch. Darby tries to fight out of it but is pulled back in before being slammed into the canvas by Andrade.
El Idolo sends Darby to the ropes before doing the tranquilo pose on the opposite side, but Allin charges into him to send Andrade to the floor. Andrade fights back by sending Darby crashing into the barricade. He notices a lady at ringside checking him out, and El Idolo decides to impress her even more by hoisting Darby up before walking up the ring steps. He sends Darby into the ring before taking a selfie with the fan…and this allows Darby to come crashing down on El Idolo, and it hurts inside AND outside as they crash to the floor!
Darby is back up as he sends Andrade into the crowd, pulling him up the steps until Andrade starts to fight back bringing Darby on his shoulder. Darby breaks free, landing a dropkick that sends Andrade flying down the steps. Darby lands back first on the steps as well, and he’s got a bit of damage on him as he brings Andrade back to ringside.
He sends El Idolo to the corner but takes a knee to the face, before Andrade lands a vertical suplex. He goes for Amigo number two as the crowd chants “Eddie”…before a moment of clarity allows him to send Darby into the turnbuckle on Amigo number three! Despite this, Darby manages to fight back as he drops El Idolo with a stunner.
Darby heads to the corner but gets caught by Andrade, only for Darby to send him crashing to the canvas before locking in a crossface…but El Idolo quickly gets a boot on the bottom rope to force the break. He goes to the outside, but takes a dive from Darby that sends him into the announce table! Darby goes after him with some bites before climbing up top for a dropkick that sends Andrade off the chair he was seated in and crashing into the barricade!
He brings El Idolo back to the ring before they fight it out on the apron, where Andrade sends Allin to the floor with a vertical suplex to “holy s–t” chants from the crowd. Ref checks on both men before beginning the count, and at eight we see Andrade back up to bring Darby back into the ring. Darby in the corner as Andrade gets back to his feet, charging full speed for a running Meteora…but Darby manages to kick out at two!
Andrade gets back up as the crowd is chanting “take your pants off”…and after weeks of hearing this crowd he decides to oblige, going for a moonsault that Darby tries to evade…but El Idolo manages to land a second one for a nearfall. Both men are up and trading strikes now, until Darby falls to the corner where he takes a chop from Andrade. Darby turns it around with a Sliced Bread into a Scorpion Death Drop. He follows up with a Coffin Drop and the cover…but Andrade grabs the arm of the ref to stop the count!
Darby is back up as he charges for a Code Red, but it gets countered into a back elbow by Andrade for two. El Idolo goes for a DM, but Darby manages to counter that and clutches deep to keep Andrade pinned for the win!
Winner via pinfall: Darby Allin
Andrade is both frustrated and surprised as he rises to his feet, as does Darby. He eventually offers a handshake to Allin, who accepts in a show of sportsmanship. Andrade leaves the ring allowing Darby to celebrate his win, shaking his head as he heads up the ramp. With that, we get a video package hyping up Cage & Cope challenging FTR for the AEW World Tag Team Championship, with both challengers looking for some revenge by taking the titles away tonight at Dynasty!
We head back to ringside as Adam Copeland is the first to make his entrance for our next match. The crowd is singing along with his theme though there’s a touch of mistiming near the end, but he gets a big pop just as Christian Cage makes his way out next. Bit of a different vibe to the reaction here, but the crowd show some love for him all the same before the champs make their entrance. FTR get boos from the crowd as Stoke accompanies them to the ring, where we get this match underway!
AEW World Tag Team Championship: FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) defends against Cage and Cope (Christian Cage and Adam Copeland)
We start off with Cope and Wheeler, who quickly trade strikes before Harwood and Cage charge in for a brawl. This ends with Cope going back after Wheeler, tagging in Christian as the crowd is singing “O Canada” while they double-team Cash for a nearfall. Cope tags back in as Wheeler rushes out of the ring for a breather, shouting at the camera op before Cope comes after him to send Wheeler into the barricade. He brings Cash back into the ring, but takes a hanging DDT from Wheeler who follows up with some stomps.
Harwood with the tag as the champs double-team Cope, setting him up on the apron for more damage as the crowd starts chanting “Bald” at Harwood (or Stokely, not sure which). Dax takes his challenger to the mat for a chinlock, as Cope struggles to try and break free. He finally does with a back suplex on Harwood, who gets the tag to Wheeler just as Cope tags in Cage. He gets both champs on the ropes, driving his boots into their backs before attacking Dax in the corner. He sends Wheeler into the corner as well, beating up on both of them with several punches to the amusement of the crowd.
Dax gets a waistlock on Cage, who distracts the ref long enough to land a low blow on the champ before catching both of FTR with a dive to the outside! He brings Harwood back in the ring but is caught by Cash, who ends up being dropped to the floor by Dax. This allows Cage to go for a Killswitch, but Harwood breaks free for some chops to send Christian to the mat instead. “Bald” chants return as Dax goes back to work on Christian, who goes for a Killswitch…only for Cage to reverse into one of his own for a nearfall before Cash breaks it up! He hangs up Cage on the ropes, dropping his arm on the top rope in the process.
Tag made as Wheeler goes after Christian, driving his arm into the ring post as the ref starts the count. The crowd is chanting something that seems to get FTR worked up slightly, before Dax focuses on sending Cage into the announce table not once but twice. He brings Cage back into the ring to go back after the arm. He gets a quick nearfall before continug the attack, until Cage sends him over with a back body drop…but Dax gets a tag and stops Cope from doing the same, before getting the drop on Cage.
Cage manages to fight back, sending Harwood to the mat as the ref begins a count. Dax pulls him back but is fought off before Cope makes the tag, sending Dax and Cash to the canvas. He dodges Dax to send Cash to the floor with a spear, before hitting an Impaler on Harwood for a two count.
Dax goes for a Sharpshooter but it gets countered into a crossface by Cope, as Cage goes for one on Wheeler as well. FTR break the hold by getting to the ropes, and the ref begins a new count as Wheeler tries to sneak the title into the ring. This turns into a tug of war with Cage on the outside as Cope rolls up Dax…and Wheeler pulls the title away to slam against Cope when he comes back up, allowing Harwood to make the cover.
But no! Cope kicks out! Cope is busted open as he sees Stoke trying to use the title, and this allows FTR to land a Shatter Machine for the cover…only for Stokely to be sent rolling onto the pin to break it up! This leads to an argument between Harwood and Hathaway, who tries to blame the ref. Ref shoves Stoke out of the ring as Cope catches Dax with a spear, but Wheeler is able to break the pin at the last second.
Wheeler leaves the ring to grab a chair, with Cage’s attempt to intervene leading to him being sent over the barricade into the timekeeper area. Wheeler enters the ring and the champs are standing over Cope, who rises to his feet to get into it with his former friends. FTR manages to turn this around, setting up for a couple superkicks as a bit of shade on the Young Bucks…but an FTR Trigger comes up short as Cope lays them out instead!
Cope heads to the corner for a spear, but Wheeler evades it and FTR land Shatter Machine for the win to retain.
Winners via pinfall and still AEW World Tag Team Champions: FTR
FTR celebrate as we look back at Kamille attacking Willow Nightingale during Zero Hour. Backstage, Willow issues the challenge to Kamille to defend the TBS Championship on the Spring Breakthru edition of Dynamite.
We get a video package hyping up the Casino Gauntlet Match, which will crown a new TNT Champion after Kyle Fletcher was forced to vacate it due to injury.
Back at ringside, Tommaso Ciampa is our first entrant for the Casino Gauntlet Match. He comes out first, followed by our second entrant in Rush who heads down the ramp. He enters the ring and we get this match underway!
Casino Gauntlet Match for the vacant AEW TNT Championship
The two men lock up, neither giving way as they fight to the corner. This moves to the two trading shots back and forth, each looking for the advantage as they hit the ropes looking for a shoulder tackle to no avail. More chops from both men now, and Rush gets his opponent on the ropes…only to be pulled back by Ciampa for a flurry of chops of his own.
Rush fights back with some chops, dodging Ciampa before landing a hard elbow sending him to the corner. He teases going for The Horns, instead mocking Ciampa before telling him to stay tranquilo. This allows Ciampa to regroup, sending Rush into the corner for a series of stomps followed by a running boot as the countdown reveals our next entrant…Bandido!
Bandido rushes down the ramp as Ciampa tries to meet him at ringside…only to take a running boot instead! Bandido enters the ring where he goes after Rush, the crowd chanting his name as he hits a cannonball senton as a nod to his buddy Brody King. He pulls Rush away from the corner for a frog splash, but Ciampa breaks up the pin at two.
He sends Bandido into the corner but is caught in the ropes instead, only for Rush to stop him from landing a 21 Plex before sending him into the barricade. I can’t help but think about the fact this match has started off with three former ROH World Champions as Rush sends Bandido back into the ring, pulling him by the hair to drop him on the mat. He tries to pull off the mask of Bandido as the countdown reveals our next entrant…“Speedball” Mike Bailey!
Bailey tries to bounce back from losing the trios titles at Collision as he rushes to the ring, fighting off Rush before going after Ciampa with a flurry of offense. Roundhouse kick sends Ciampa down hard and Mike gets a two count off a standing shooting star. Rush and Bailey trade chops now, as the countdown reveals our next entrant pretty quickly…El Clon!
No glitches in the entrance as he makes a beeline for the ring, knocking down Rush and Bailey on his way down. He reveals eyeholes in his mask before sliding into the ring, where the takes Bandido down hard for a nearfall as we get another countdown for our next entrant…with PAC making his way through the crowd to get to ringside!
He goes after the rest of the field, eventually taking most of them out with a Black Arrow to the outside. He slides back into the ring to confront Bailey, but Bandido slides into the ring as well. PAC knocks back Bailey and goes after Banddio, who takes a thrust kick from PAC leading to all three men laying into each other as the countdown gives us our next entrant…as Daniel Garcia makes his way to the ring through the crowd!
He gets in quick looking for an easy pinfall, rolling up Bandido and then Ciampa but only getting a nearfall each time. He sends them both out before stepping into a thrust kick by Clon, but Garcia counters a suplex leading to an exchange of nearfalls. Garcia gets a two count to end the exchange. PAC comes in and both Death Riders focus on wearing down El Clon. The luchador goes down as PAC and Garcia focus on the countdown bringing out our next entrant…Anthony Bowens!
Bowens sends the Riders out before going after Bandido with a flurry of offense into a Famouser. Clon slides into the ring but gets taken down hard by Bowens, who dodges one kick by Speedball but not the second. Mike heads to the corner, where Anthony intercepts him with a dragon screw sending Bailey to the mat. PAC confronts Bowens and the two go at it, with PAC being sent to the corner.
Bowens stays on top of him with a DDT from the ropes, but Ciampa breaks the pin at two. Tommaso and Rush lay into Bowens with a series of stomps, sending him out of the ring as the countdown reveals our next entrant…Kevin Knight!
He leaps over Rush to go after Ciampa, only for Rush to come back after him. He gets laid out with a dive by Speedball, and JetSpeed celebrate as the Death Riders call them back into the ring. The four brawl in the ring until th eRiders take control, only to be sent to the floor by JetSpeed for a stereo dive on each side of the ring. The tag partners stare each other down as they start to get back in the ring, but Garcia pulls Knight away and sends Speedball out before Bowens comes in. This doesn’t last long, as Rush comes, uh…rushing after Bowens with some stomps in the corner.
Rush catches Bowens with The Horns, but Clon tries to take advantage as he gets a nearfall on Bowens and then Rush. Bandido catches him with a 21 Plex for a nearfall before that gets broken up, as the countdown reveals our next entrant…Wheeler Yuta, who has grown his hair back slightly since we last saw him!
He comes rushing toward ringside to take advantage of the chaos, but he gets sent to the outside as Knight looks for a dive. He gets intercepted by Ciampa…who sends the Jet flying onto the pile outside with a superplex! PAC was unaffected and he takes advantage as he brings Speedball back into the ring for a two count. Ciampa breaks it up but is sent out of the ring by Yuta, as Garcia locks in Dragonslayer on Bailey.
Just when he thinks he’s got it won, however, in comes Kevin Knight with a UFO Splash to break it up…and he gets the cover on Garcia to win the Gauntlet!
Winner via pinfall and new TNT Champion: Kevin Knight
We get pyro for the new champ as he celebrates his first singles title in AEW. We go to a video package hyping up the Women’s World Championship match as Jamie Hayter challenges Thekla tonight at Dynasty!
We head to ringside before getting a shot of a “pub” setup for the Brawling Birds, where a roughed-up Alex Windsor tells her mate Hayter it’s her turn to get out there. She takes a quick drink for the road before making her entrance. Out next is the champion as Thekla makes her way to the ring, and we get this match underway!
AEW Women’s World Championship Match: Thekla defends against Jamie Hayter
Hayter levels the champ with a boot, landing some hard shots on Thekla before sending her to the ropes…where the challenger is met with a spear by the Toxic Spider in retaliation! She sends Hayter to the outside, looking to keep on the attack as she sends Jamie into the announce table. She follows up by sending Hayter into the guardrail before landing some punches…but Hayter fights back with some punches of her own!
Thekla backs away but is met with a chop on the apron by the challenger before getting back into the ring. Hayter follows up with a snap suplex for two. She goes back on the attack until the champ rolls out of the ring for a breather, but Jamie doesn’t let up for long as she follows Thekla to the floor for some right hands.
She hoists the champ up for a suplex but Thekla blocks it, and this goes up the ramp until the Toxic Spider catches the challenger with a DDT onto the ramp. She sends Jamie rolling down the ramp with a boot to the face before walking back to the ring, sliding in before going up top for a dive on a rising Hayter.
The challenger slowly gets back up as the ref is making the count, stepping onto the apron only to take a boot to the face by the champ. Hayter manages to get back in the ring after this, but is immediately sent to the opposite side by Thekla. Upon her return, Hayter takes some more shots by the champ before getting to her feet, and the two trade strikes until Hayter gets sent to the corner.
Thekla pulls her back in for a cover and a two count, immediately going for a submission hold that gets into illegal territory as the ref calls for a break before five. Both women get to their feet now, trading shots until a slap sends the challenger crashing to the canvas. Thekla hits the ropes for a headscissors into a standing octopus hold of sorts, wrenching the fingers of Hayter as she struggles toward the ropes. She manages to get there, forcing a break before falling to the mat.
She tries to use the ropes to prop herself up but takes a kick sending her through the ropes to the apron. Thekla brings her up and takes a headbutt by the challenger, who sends the Toxic Spider crashing onto the apron with a suplex before both women drop to the floor. The ref begins the count and it reaches nine just as both women slide into the ring on opposite sides to save the match for themselves.
They slowly fight to their feet, trading strikes until Thekla tries to send Hayter to the ropes. Jamie turns this around, sending the champ to the corner for a clothesline before dropping Thekla to the mat. She follows up with a Liger Bomb, but only gets a two count.
She brings Thekla up for a suplex, but the champ counters for a nearfall off a clothesline. Hayter fights back when Thekla starts to go around the ring, setting up for a tombstone piledriver and a close two count…and has to get her shoulder up at one when the ref begins a new pin count! Thekla ends up sending the challenger to the corner, but Hayter fights back until the Toxic Spider takes a bite out of her.
She drops Hayter to the mat with a spider suplex, staying on the turnbuckle for a double foot stomp onto the upper back of the challenger. Hayter back on her feet before the champ knocks her down with a roundhouse kick for a two count. Thekla with the spider pose before charging for a spear, but Hayter counters into a backbreaker. Hayterade is dodged by the champ, who rakes the eyes of Jamie for a roll up…and it’s enough for the win as she grabs the bottom rope for leverage!
Winner via pinfall and still AEW Women’s World Champion: Thekla
Thekla rolls out of the ring to celebrate, as Windsor runs down the ramp to dispute the decision with the ref. The call is final as we go to a video package hyping up the feud between Jon Moxley and Will Ospreay leading to tonight’s AEW Continental Championship match at Dynasty!
Back at ringside, Will Ospreay makes his entrance for our next match. Out next is the champ as Jon Moxley gets hyped up by the Death Riders before heading through the crowd to get to ringside, before this match gets underway!
AEW Continental Championship Match: Jon Moxley defends against Will Ospreay
Ospreay immediately levels Moxley with a Hidden Blade from out of the corner, to a big pop from the crowd! They chant his name as he talks about having time on his hands now. He goes to the corner as Mox starts to get to his feet, only to be laid out with a second Hidden Blade sending the champ out to the floor.
He goes after Mox on the outside before propping him up on the apron for a DDT. Ospreay brings the champ back into the ring as he goes up top for a flying forearm to the back. Mox drops to the canvas as the challenger lays in some forearm strikes…until Mox looks for a triangle hold. Ospreay counters by hoisting the champ up for a powerbomb.
Jon crawls to the ropes where the challenger lays some more strikes on him, sending him to the floor before sending Mox into the ring steps. He props Mox onto the steps, shouting at him for the six months he put Ospreay out of action…but the champ manages to fight back, sending Will to the floor with a Paradigm Shift!
He brings Ospreay back into the ring for a sleeper suplex, stalking his prey before putting Will down with a right hand. He continues the beatdown with a few more shots for good measure, allowing Ospreay to get back up for a free shot which ends with the challenger taking Mox to the canvas. Springboard dropkick on the champ, who rolls to the outside for a breather before he intercepts Ospreay on the turnbuckle.
He looks for a piledriver on the apron but Ospreay fights back, sending the champ back into the ring for a springboard dive…right into a forearm strike by Moxley! Ospreay collapses to the canvas as Mox goes back to work on him. Ospreay manages to fight back, taking the champ down hard before Mox transitions into a bulldog choke as we get the announcement that ten minutes have elapsed. This puts us at halftime as Mox brings his challenger up for a suplex and a cover, but Ospreay manages to get a shoulder up just in time!
The fight moves to the corner where Mox looks for a sleeper suplex off the turnbuckle…but Ospreay lands on his feet! He gets caught with a second suplex attempt, but Ospreay manages to catch the champ with a powerbomb in response for a two count. He heads to the ropes for an Oscutter, but Mox counters for a Paradigm Shift…but Ospreay bounces back up, landing a Hidden Blade on the champ before dropping back to the canvas!
Both men slowly get to their feet for an exchange of strikes now. Mox is hobbling as the challenger sends him to the corner, laying in some more strikes until the ref tries to intervene…and Ospreay shoves him down to the mat! Things get awkward as Ospreay offers a hand to apologize to the ref, and this distraction allows him to take a big lariat from Mox! Ospreay bounces back as he lands a Styles Clash on the champ, but the slow transition to a pin allows Mox to kick out at two.
Mox goes for a choke but the challenger escapes, heading to the corner for a Hidden Blade that gets him a nearfall as we’re told five minutes remain. Ospreay is favoring his neck and shoulder as we see him setting up for a Tiger Driver…but the champ breaks free to leave the ring. Ospreay follows him to the outside, looking for a Tiger Driver on the ring steps before Mox breaks free…and this allows the champ to land a piledriver, sending Ospreay headfirst onto the top of the steps! Mox enters the ring as the ref calls for the medic to check on Ospreay, and the ref begins the count as Ospreay is struggling to move.
At the count of eight he gets to the apron, but drops back down before finally sliding into the ring at nine…where Mox catches him with a lariat followed by TWO Paradigm Shifts! Mox with the cover…and Ospreay kicks out just in time! Mox hoists Ospreay up, dropping the challenger down hard with a Death Rider DDT…and this is enough to get the win as Mox retains his title here at Dynasty!
Winner via pinfall and still AEW Continental Champion: Jon Moxley
The doc checks on Ospreay after Moxley leaves the ring in celebration of his win tonight. Ospreay is helped to his feet before heading up to the back.
We get a video package hyping AEW Double Or Nothing, which heads to Queens, New York on Sunday, May 24. From there we head backstage, where we hear from Darby Allin after his win earlier tonight. He addresses his career starting in Everett, where Dynamite is taking place this Wednesday. He says he is watching the main event, teasing that he may be looking for his title shot to go down this Wednesday at Spring Breakthru Dynamite.
We get a video package highlighting the rise of The Dogs in AEW as they defend the World Trios Championship tonight at Dynasty!
We head back to ringside, where a sitcom studio has been set up on the stage. Roderick Strong appears to “wake up” Orange Cassidy, saying “he” is gonna be here soon. Who is he, you ask? Why, it’s none other than British Columbia’s own Kyle O’Reilly! Did someone say “Conglomeration?” Roddy and Orange didn’t, so Kyle goes ahead and says it before the challengers make their way to the ring for our next match. Out next are the champs, as The Dogs destroy the sitcom set on the stage before heading down the ramp to get this semi-main event underway!
AEW World Trios Championship Match: The Dogs (David Finlay, Clark Connors and Gabe Kidd) defend against The Conglomeration (Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, and Kyle O’Reilly)
O’Reilly and Finlay start things off as Kyle catches David with a side headlock. Finlay fights back to hit the ropes, stopping a sunset flip for some stomps. David hits the ropes but runs into a lifting knee from O’Reilly, who gets the tag to Strong for a double-team. They fend off Kidd and Connors before tagging in Cassidy who goes up top…then the middle…and then just goes for an elbow from the mat itself for a nearfall.
Connors and Kidd come in but are sent right back out, allowing the Conglomeration to high five each other until the Dogs get the jump on them. The fight spills to the outside, where they set up O’Reilly for a Full Clip from the apron! The Dogs celebrate until Strong rushes toward Finlay, only for Gabe to launch him into the barricade with a boot.
Back in the ring, we see Finlay go after Cassidy until he gets sent to the corner by Orange, who gets beat up by Connors on the outside allowing David to regain control. He drops Cassidy to the mat for a chinlock, but Orange fights back to his feet until Finlay sends him into the turnbuckle for a tag to Connors. Crowd boo as Connors eventually sends Cassidy down with a snap suplex for a two count.
Clark sends Cassidy to the opposite corner before mocking Strong, getting something of a pounce on Orange before he can get the tag. Cassidy is back up as he sends Connors into the corner before tagging in Roddy, who launches Orange into both Dogs before landing a gutbuster on Clark for a nearfall.
Finlay comes in to go after Strong, who manages to fend him and Connors off as Kyle gets back to the apron. Roddy makes the tag, and O’Reilly goes off on Clark before hitting a dragon screw that sends Finlay to the floor. He hits one on Connors as well before locking in an ankle lock. Finlay tries to break it up after he dodges an Orange Punch, but he gets sent out with a knee strike by Strong…and this allows O’Reilly to cinch the ankle lock in even deeper on Connors, who ends up tapping out!
Winners via submission and new AEW World Trios Champions: The Conglomeration (Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, and Kyle O’Reilly)
The new champs celebrate with pyro as the crowd cheers them on. With that, we go to a video package hyping up our main event as MJF defends the AEW World Championship against Kenny Omega in a “Devil vs. God” battle tonight at Dynasty!
Back at ringside, a Final Fantasy-esque entrance brings out the arrival of Kenny Omega as the master of the One-Winged Angel heads down the ramp, ready for what looks to be the biggest challenge of his AEW return as he enters the ring. Out next is the champ, really playing into the “devil” motif (though, thanks to a random “Mortal Kombat” shout from the crowd I can’t help but think of Shao Khan) as MJF makes his way down the ramp. We get ring introductions for both men before getting this main event underway…well, after MJF finally gives up the Dynamite Diamond Ring he has hidden in his trunks first. There’s been enough talk, though…IT’S TIME for our main event!
AEW World Championship Match: MJF defends against Kenny Omega
MJF talks some smack on his challenger before they get ready to go. They circle the mat as the crowd chant something…something that sounds like “you’ve got hair plugs” toward the champ, who shouts at the fans before going for a Salt of the Earth on Omega to no avail. He counters out of a One-Winged Angel for a nearfall, and the fight spills to the apron where Omega fends off a Heatseeker.
He looks for a V-Trigger on MJF, but the champ escapes for a breather and then some as he walks into the crowd. Fans give him some grief for this and he responds by telling them they’re on his time, before he gets back into the ring. MJF gets the advantage on Omega, which he celebrates before hitting the ropes…but Omega takes him to the outside, only for the champ to avoid a dive. He walks around before taking a dropkick that sends him to the barricade, allowing Kenny to get the drop on him with a dive to the floor!
Omega charges toward the champ now, but MJF counters with a drop toe hold that sends him face first into a steel chair. He sends Omega over the guardrail, but a moment of distraction allows Kenny to climb up to take the champ back to the floor. He grabs the timekeeper’s table and brings it over toward the champ, taking advantage of a loophole in the rules to land a double stomp onto the table propped over MJF.
Kenny starts to set the table up until the ref reminds him he can only win the belt in the ring, and Omega responds by rolling into the ring just long enough to break the count. He sets. MJF up on the table as the count starts anew, climbing the turnbuckle until MJF retreats back into the ring…and knocks Omega off the turnbuckle!
This allows MJF to lay in some stomps on the challenger, followed by a hard scoop slam. Omega starts to fight back, until the champ drops him with a neckbreaker. They trade strikes in the middle of the ring now, and MJF is worn down by Kenny with some more shots before going for a powerbomb…but MJF counters with a water wheel drop, getting a cover on the challenger for a two count.
He takes Omega to the corner for some punches, flipping off the crowd…which allows Omega to fight back for some punches of his own! MJF breaks free with a Manhattan drop, but tweaks his knee evading Omega in the corner before landing an O’Connor roll that gets a nearfall before the challenger kicks out.
Omega gets to the ropes, giving MJF an idea to go for a V-Trigger…only for Omega to dodge him, landing a snap dragon suplex instead! He stays on the attack, dropping the champ to the mat before landing a moonsault for the cover…and a two count before MJF rolls out of the ring, looking for a breather.
Kenny runs the ropes, building up speed as the champ gets back up just in time to be sent back to the floor with a dive by Omega. The fight returns to the ring as MJF breaks away from a One-Winged Angel, also dodging a catapult as we get dueling chants for both men from the crowd. The two fight it out on the ring until MJF lands on his feet on the mat, biting Kenny’s head in the corner until the ref intervenes.
MJF props Omega up on the turnbuckle, eventually looking for a tombstone piledriver before the challenger breaks free. Dueling chants again as Omega goes for a sunset powerbomb, but MJF lands on his feet. Snap dragon suplex by Omega, who lands on his feet when MJF goes for a suplex of his own…and the champ counters a One-Winged Angel into a reverse rana! He goes for a Long Island Sunrise on Kenny, but the challenger pops back up for a running knee on MJF instead.
Both men on their feet as Omega goes after the champ on the ropes, but a dodged Heatseeker just gives MJF an opening for a cutter on Kenny for two. He tries to tell Omega he can’t escape, but Omega counters out of his own signature to get a nearfall. He tries to do the same to the champ, but MJF fights back. Omega looks for a V-Trigger but runs into a kitchen sink by MJF, who starts mocking the challenger by asking if his stomach hurts.
Both men hit the ropes and run into each other, falling to the canvas. MJF takes Omega to the corner but Kenny fights back, sending the champ’s head into the turnbuckle. The challenger lands some more shots before pulling him in for a buckle bomb. Kenny goes up top as MJF gets to his feet, only to be sent crashing down with a missile dropkick by Omega for a close two count. He climbs the turnbuckle once more, only to take a forearm to the midsection by the champ. MJF looks for a tombstone before Omega breaks free. MJF boots him away before jumping off the turnbuckle…and right into a knee by the challenger!
MJF is still in the corner as Omega starts to set up for an avalanche One-Winged Angel. MJF tries to break free, but it’s no good as Omega sends him crashing to the canvas with the One-Winged Angel off the turnbuckle! Omega struggles to reach over for the pin, and that pause is enough for MJF to roll out of the ring out of the challenger’s reach.
Kenny leaves the ring to bring the champ back in, bringing MJF to his feet only for the champ to fight back with a knee. He looks for a Cross Rhodes, but instead takes a kick to the face sending him into the corner. This opens Kenny up for a V-Trigger from behind, followed by a snap dragon suplex and another V-Trigger for the cover…but the champ manages to kick out just in the nick of time!
Kenny brings MJF back up as he looks for a One-Winged Angel, but the champ drops to the mat as Omega is struggling to lift him up. He tries again, and this time MJF counters into a Cross Rhodes followed by a package piledriver, referencing two ghosts of Kenny’s past as he goes for the pin…but Omega kicks out at two, saving his shot at the title!
MJF is struggling to figure out what he has to do to win this match, getting to his feet to slap the challenger in the face. He peppers Omega with some more shots as Kenny struggles to his feet, only to be dropped back to the canvas. Kenny gets back up, absorbing a few more shots from the champ before the two men go nose to nose. Omega finally fires back wiht a flurry of offense, forcing MJF to the corner.
He keeps this up until he pulls the champ away, spitting in his face before landing a hard kick. This sets him up for a V-Trigger on MJF, with fans chanting “one more time” as Omega lands a right hand forcing MJF back to the ropes. Omega builds up speed for a second V-Trigger, hoisting MJF up for One-Winged Angel…but MJF breaks free, pulling the ref into a V-Trigger by the challenger instead!
Omega tries to revive the ref and this allows MJF to land a low blow. While Kenny is recovering, MJF walks over to the ref to retrieve his Dynamite Diamond RIng. Omega catches him however, and lands a One-Winged Angel for the cover. The ref is still down as the crowd starts a count of their own, and a second ref comes running to the ring to make the count…only for MJF to kick out just before three!
By all rights this makes MJF the first in AEW to kick out of One-Winged Angel, setting aside the asterisk of how that came to be. The fight spills to the apron as Kenny looks for a OWA through the table, but the champ clocks him with the ring to set up for a tombstone piledriver sending Omega through the table. He brings him back to the apron for a Heatseeker, and that will do the trick as MJF gets the pin to retain.
Winner via pinfall and still AEW World Champion: MJF
MJF struggles to get up, choosing instead to roll to the apron where he demands an assist from a medic. He is helped onto his feet as he heads up the ramp, while we get a replay of the finish. MJF breaks away from the medic’s arms as he heads to his throne, putting his crown back on his head as we are reminded of the Spring Breakthru this week on Dynamite and Collision. MJF raises the title up as pyro goes off behind him to bring Dynasty to a close.
