TNA Turning Point

VIDEO PACKAGE: Dixie Carter’s speech. Hulk Hogan hype. Change is coming. Kurt Angle vs. Desmond Wolfe. World Heavyweight champion A.J. Styles.

TNA X-DIVISION MATCH
Amazing Red w/Don West defeated Homicide to retain the TNA X-Division title: The crowd supported Red with chants of “He’s AH-MAZ-ING!” which got under Homicide’s skin. Homicide seems to be channeling Brian Pillman’s loose cannon gimmick. Homicide mostly dominated the match, but Red won with a leap off the top rope into a Code Red to retain the X-Division title!

TNA KNOCKOUTS (ALL TITLES) MATCH
TNA Knockout champion ODB & TNA Knockout Tag Team champions Sarita & Taylor Wilde defeated The Beautiful People (Velvet Sky & Madison Rayne & Lacey Von Erich) to retain their titles: Lacey’s new gimmick is a weapon that the Beautiful People call the “ugly stick.” You know, as in “you just got hit with an ugly stick” – it must have come from the ugly tree.

PROMO: Desmond Wolfe said he knew Kurt Angle better than Kurt knows him.. WANKER!

TNA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE 3-WAY
The British Invasion (Brutus Magnus & Doug Williams w/Rob Terry) defeated The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) and Beer Money Inc. (Robert Roode & James Storm) to retain the TNA World Tag Team titles: The Motor City Machine Guns did a couple high spots and then disappeared from the match. Eric Young tried to interview on behalf of the British Invasion, but Kevin Nash showed up and took the Global belt out of Young’s hands! James Storm went after Young, but Nash swerved everyone and smashed Storm with Global title. The Brits finished off Robert Roode with their finisher and scored the victory!

RINGSIDE: Mike Tenay & Tazz talked about Raven burning Mick Foley’s face last week, and said Foley would be on iMPACT to show the damage to his face.. There are rumors that Foley might return wearing a mask (a la Mankind)..

BACKSTAGE INTERVIEW
Jeremy Borash & Kevin Nash: Kevin Nash said he does everything for a reason, but won’t tell those reasons unless “Hulk” tells him it’s okay.

TNA KNOCKOUTS SIX SIDES OF STEEL MATCH
Tara defeated Awesome Kong: The match went too long. It looked like Tara wanted to escape the cage by climbing out, but instead she hit Awesome Kong with a Thesz Press off the top for the win! Lauren Brooke interviewed Tara after the match, and Tara challenged ODB to a TNA Knockout title match..

RINGSIDE: Hype for Hulk Hogan’s arrival in TNA..

SIX MAN TAG TEAM MATCH
Rhino & Team 3-D (Brothers Ray & Devon) defeated Matt Morgan & Hernandez & Pope D’Angelo Dinero: Nobody was sure if Pope D’Angelo Dinero would stay loyal to his team, but he was true to his word.

BACKSTAGE INTERVIEW
Lauren Brooke & Scott Steiner: Lauren said Scott Steiner’s match with Bobby Lashley tonight has been upgraded to a No-DQ match. Steiner threatened to abduct Kristal after he defeated Bobby Lashley tonight..

NO-DQ FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE STREET FIGHT
Scott Steiner defeated Bobby Lashley: The fight spilled out of the ring and into the backstage production area. Lashley suplexed Steiner on top of a table – which cracked but did not break. Lashley picked up a piece of wood and the crowd yelled “hooooo!” (like Hacksaw Duggan). Steiner threw Lashley through a piece of plywood, and choked him with some electrical cord. Steiner headed out to the stage and Lashley followed him. Steiner ripped a piece of steel pipe off the scaffold and whacked Lashley out cold with it before scoring the pinfall on the stage. Steiner was bloodied, but I’m not sure when that happened.

BACKSTAGE INTERVIEW
Jeremy Borash & Kurt Angle: Kurt Angle said he is the baddest dog in the yard, and doesn’t need to know Desmond Wolfe to beat him.

GRUDGE MATCH
Kurt Angle defeated Desmond Wolfe by choke submission: After about 10 minutes the crowd was already chanting “this is awesome!” They wisely worked an ROH-style match, and the crowd was getting an education. The crowd chanted “TNA! TNA! TNA!” and “This is Wrestling!” They hit each other with most of their favorite moves. Angle hit six consecutive German Suplexes. Angle countered the Tower of London and hit Wolfe with an Angle-slam – but only got a two-count. Angle reversed an Arm-submission, and put Wolfe in the Anklelock. Wolfe reversed that into an Figure4 Hammerlock combination, but then Angle rolled through and put him back in the Anklelock. Wolfe desperately reached for the ropes, but Angle pulled him back to the middle of the six sided ring. Wolfe crawled and grabbed the ropes forcing the break. The crowd chanted “This Is Awesome!” Angle went for another Angle-slam but Wolfe countered it into a DDT! Wolfe nailed Angle with the Tower of London (which they haven’t named yet), but only got a two-count. Wolfe went for the Lariat, but Angle took him down with his own Lariat! Angle immediately went for a top rope Moonsault, but Wolfe moved causing Angle to crash and burn. Wolfe went straight to an Arm-submission, but Angle reached the ropes to break the hold. The crowd started dual chants of “Let’s Go Angle!” and “Let’s Go Desmond!” then “You’re Both Awesome!” Wolfe set up for a Superplex but Angle pushed him down and hit a Frog-splash! Mike Tenay remarked, “you are witnessing a wrestling classic.” Angle went for a Tombstone, but Wolfe flipped it over, only to have Angle slip into an Anklelock! Wolfe struggled to escape, but Angle modified it into a Side Triangle-choke until Wolfe had no choice but to tap out!! Simply AMAZING match.

BACKSTAGE INTERVIEW
Jeremy Borash & Samoa Joe: Samoa Joe promises victory tonight.

TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE 3-WAY
A.J. Styles defeated Christopher Daniels and Samoa Joe to retain the TNA World Heavyweight title: The front row respectfully threw colored ribbons into the ring during introductions for all three men. More chants of “This Is Wrestling!” All three men brought their A-game. They hit some old spots, and they hit some new spots, but everything was executed flawlessly. Joe kept taking breaks on the floor or the side of the ring. The finish saw Daniels escape the Muscle-buster and hit Joe with the STO judo takedown and a BME (Best Moonsault Ever). Daniels covered Joe, but Styles flattened both men with a Springboard 450 Splash and stole the pin (on Joe) from Daniels. Awesome match.
