“FIGHT TO BE FIRST” MINI-TOURNAMENT HIGHLIGHTS “END OF DAYS”

The end of days is fast approaching. “END OF DAYS” will be UIPW’s final show of 2007 and the UNION plans to go out on a high note. In the main event of the evening, STEVE CORINO will make his first defense of the UNION Heavyweight title. Corino faces off against SEBASTIAN DARK. This match promises to be an all-out brawl of biblical proportions as Dark has finally scratched, clawed, lied and cheated his way back to a shot at the championship belt he lost over 4 years ago. Can Corino survive the onslaught of “The Bastard Son of 1,000 Corpses”?

Either way, the winner of the main event will get a glimpse of his own future as the UNION will hold a 4-man mini-tournament at “END OF DAYS” to decide the next number one contender to the Heavyweight title. Last week, PEPPER PARKS was announced as the first name in this “Fight To Be First” event. This week, we can reveal the other three.

First, Ontario indy veteran REGGIE MARLEY gets a chance to add UNION gold to his long list of championships. Marley is double-smart and double-tough and an excellent choice for the “Fight To Be First”. Reggie’s opponent in the first round will be none other than STERLING JAMES KEENAN. The leader of the BDSM was forced to vacate his spot in November’s title tournament due to an injury. SJK returns to Toronto in December with domination on his mind.

And then, facing off against Parks will be the returning “New Generation Ace” RICKY LANDELL. Parks and Landell went to a 20-minute draw at the UIPW’s first Toronto event, “BORN AGAIN”. Now they meet again with more then just pride on the line. The winners of these two matches will then face off for a guaranteed shot at the UNION Heavyweight champion in the balance.

Also scheduled for “END OF DAYS” is a gigantic tag team collision as THE FLATLINERS and THE WILD STALLIONS join forces to take on THE ALL-KNIGHTERS and THE OLSEN TWINS in 8-man action.

The UNION presents “END OF DAYS” on Saturday December 15th at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Etobicoke (3850 Lake Shore Blvd West at Browns Line). There is plenty of free parking for those who drive. The Hall is also directly adjacent to both the Long Branch GO Station and the the TTC’s Long Branch streetcar loop, so it’s easy to reach via public transit. Doors open at 6:30pm. Bell time is 7pm.

TICKETS are $20 each and are ON SALE NOW at the Legion Hall or via secure online purchase in the “UNION Shop” at www.wrestlersunion.ca. And remember, the event is open to ALL AGES, but for those 19 and older, the Legion Hall includes a FULLY LICENSED BAR. Fans are reminded to bring valid ID and encouraged to use public transit if they plan to purchase alcohol.

COMING THIS JANUARY: THE 1st ANNUAL NORTHERN LIGHTS CLASSIC

On Saturday January 12th 2008, the UNION will crown a new cruiserweight champion when it holds its first annual cruiserweight tournament: The NORTHERN LIGHTS CLASSIC. This one-night, 8-man tournament isn’t just UIPW’s attempt to bring together some of the greatest cruiserweight talent in the world. More than that, it is our way of honoring a fallen friend.

James Fawcett, who wrestled professionally as DEVIL BHUDAKAHN, was a member of the UNION roster in 2003 and 2004 in Erie, Pennsylvania. As the leader of the DEVIL’S ADVOCATES, alongside GLENN SPECTRE and JAKE GARRETT, he was co-holder of the first-ever UNION Tag Team champions. Fawcett was found dead in his suburban Pittsburgh, PA home on July 15th 2007. Jimmy grew through out his career to be a tremendous source of advice and encouragement to those with whom he shared both the ring and the locker room.

In memory of our comrade, the winner of each year’s NORTHERN LIGHTS CLASSIC will be awarded the JAMES “DEVIL BHUDAKAHN” FAWCETT Memorial Trophy. The UNION wishes to extend our deepest thanks to the Fawcett family for their permission to honor Jimmy in this manner.

Next week, we will release the names of the first two participants in this exciting showcase tournament.
