WWE NEWS

4/10 Smackdown TV results from Austin, TX: Big Show over Kofi Kingston; The Great Khali over Santino Marella; Gail Kim over Michelle McCool; Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase Jr. over Carlito & Primo Colon, and Matt Hardy over Jeff Hardy in a stretcher match.

Raw is live tonight from the Philips Arena in Atlanta which is a special three hour draft show. Superstars will swap brands and then inexplicably appear on every other show anyway. They are also taping matches tonight (and tomorrow) to make up the new Superstars show debuting Thursday night on WGN. The ECW/Smackdown tapings is Tuesday from the Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, TN.

After the TV tapings tomorrow WWE embarks on a huge 19-date European tour starting in Ireland on Wednesday. We’re looking for reader reports from all the shows this coming week in Ireland, Germany, Scotland, France, Austria and England.

WWE sent out a press release this afternoon saying Wrestlemania 25 generated $43 million in PPV revenue. No idea how they calculated that number this early. That would put the show at around 785,000 buys worldwide, which is under the one million buys WWE was projecting. The release also noted the gate at Reliant Stadium set a new company record with $7.4 million in ticket sales (although that number included Fan
Axxess) and $1.5 million in merchandise sales.

There will be 12 drafts picks on Raw tonight followed by a supplemental draft (mostly undercard wrestlers) on Wednesday at noon via WWE.com. The entire roster is on hand tonight in Atlanta.

WWE.com did an angle where the Bella Twins have kissed and made up.

The Stamford, CT Advocate reported that WWE’s cafeteria failed two food inspections (for food storage at improper temperatures) before passing a third attempt during the past 12 months.

ESPN: The Magazine has a story on John Cena in conjunction with the WWE feature tomorrow night on E:60. Cena said he doesn’t like having much input into his storylines and goes with what ever creative come up for him. He said some of the products they attatch his name to makes him cringe. “I’m all for merchandising, but John Cena car floor mats or nesting dolls don’t seem right,” he says.

12 Rounds with John Cena for it’s third weekend finished No. 14 at the Box Office grossing $796,632 for a domestic total of $10.7 million. The movie will be gone from most theaters after this week.

Interview with MVP at http://tinyurl.com/cr9rsu pushing the European tour. He talks about breaking into wrestling after comning out of jail for armed robbery several years ago.

The 6/7 Extreme Rules PPV in New Orleans will likely now be held at the Lakefront Arena. The New Orleans Arena was originally booked as the venue but will now be needed for a Hornets playoff games on the same day.

The video game section of ESPN.com at http://tinyurl.com/cvtcqn interviewed Dusty and Cody Rhodes pushing Legends of Wrestlemania. Cody talks about Shane McMahon not pulling his punches.

A new DVD titled Allied Powers: The World’s Greatest Tag Teams is slated for a 7/14 release.

Candice Michelle has a cameo on an episode of Wizards of Waverly Place on the Disney Channel on 4/19.

WWE Magazine in Germany was renewed for another four years.

DH Smith has dyed his hair blonde which means he was told to or he asked and was given permission. He is looking huge these days.

A really bad review of the movie Royal Kill with Gail Kim at http://tinyurl.com/cdmb3s made the Washington Post. The movie didn’t even register over the weekend at the Box Office due to it’s limited release.
TNA NEWS

The full line up for Sunday’s Lockdown PPV in Philadelphia is Sting vs.

TNA sent out a text message alert claiming a “former World champion from another organization” was in negotiations with the company to come in and they hoped a deal would be completed by Lockdown.

The Philadelphia Inquirer at http://tinyurl.com/carvf6 has a story on Kurt Angle pushing Lockdown. No outlandish claims in the interview other than “everyone in wrestling is four inches shorter than the program says they are.” He conceded his age saying at 40 he doesn’t no how much longer his body will hold up.

Danny Bonaduce claimed on his radio show that he won’t be paid for his appearance at Lockdown. His match with Eric Young will now form part of a 30 minute preshow as Bonaduce was furious when he found out his match was going to be dark.

Lisa Varon on her Myspace wrote about meeting Dixie Carter at the UFC show in Nashville. She won’t be going to TNA and said her focus is MMA.
She joked about fighting Gina Carano at Wrestlemania 26 in Phoenix.

TNA announced some obscure house show dates. They run 5/29 in Pueblo, CO; 5/30 in Cheyenne, WY; 6/2 in Nampa, ID; and 6/3 in Kennewick, WA.

Bryan Danielson’s contract with Ring of Honor expires in May and hasn’t
yet been renewed. He has been talking about getting into MMA of late and
is training with Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas.

Larry Sweeney on his MySpace wrote about battling bipolar disorder and
his ROH suspension. He said ROH are treating him like a drug addict and
complained about being suspended. He claimed he is owe him money and
said his contract is up next month: “I will appear for ROH if they have
made things right with me by that time, but quite frankly, I do not see
that happening. If somebody says they’re your friend, but then tires to
(bleep) with our livelihood, for whatever reason, what does that make
you? Your enemy.”

Alex Marvez interviewed Cary Silkin at http://tinyurl.com/cg3vv8 talking
about Ric Flair working the ROH TV tapings: “Bringing him in not only
gives us a tremendous amount of credibility but also a much-needed
recognizable face. As great as our guys are, I’m a realist. Unless
you’re an Internet wrestling fan, you’re not going to know who Bryan
Danielson, Nigel McGuinness or the Briscoes are. We need to attract the
rest of the world. I think Ric is the perfect person to put into that
spot.”

Paul London was backstage at the ROH tapings this past Friday.

Brian Lawler was involved in a backstage fight over the weekend at a
show in Dyersburg, TN. The story we got was that Lawler had words with
an indy wrestler called Bishop over something that happened in the ring.
Bishop beat the crap out of Lawler until some of the other wrestlers
pulled them apart. Later on Lawler attacked Bishop from behind and they
started fighting again. Lawler suffered a nasty gash to his cheek.

Taz(z) is now taking a limited number of bookings at [email protected]
(serious enquiries only). He said he will make a statement regarding his
WWE departure later this week on his facebook page.

The Naples, FL Daily News at http://tinyurl.com/chptwz has a story on
Pat “Simon Diamond” Kenney’s lawsuit against Rev. Dennis Killion, the
priest he alleges sexually abused him as a teenager.

The city of Vero Beach in Florida has passed an ordinance that bans the
sale of alcohol in venues that run wrestling and boxing.

JBL was announced as a commentator for the Vyper Fight League in
Louisville, KY. The MMA group is being sponsored by Layfield Energy and
promoted by Danny Davis in the same building he runs OVW. The debut show
is 4/24.

Dory Funk Jr. at www.dory-funk.com posted his WWE Hall of Fame speech.

Highspots.com promoted a benefit show in Charlotte this past weekend for
the Police Benevolent Foundation. The show drew an estimated 200 fans,
and featured Ric Flair, Roddy Piper and had Tommy Young, 61, coming out
of retirement to ref some matches.

Juventud Guerrera is meeting with AAA officials again this week to ask
them to pay for his medical bills stemming from the injuries he suffered
at the hands of Jack Evans and Konnan a few weeks ago.

Bret Hart‘s autobiography Hitman debuted in the UK at No. 5 on the
Sunday Times best seller list. He is on tour in the UK this week
promoting his book.

A judge has set a tentative trial date (unless a settlement is reached)
for March 2010 in the auto negligence lawsuit against the Hogan family
over the August 2007 car crash that severely injured John Graziano.
