WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT NEWS

9/20 Smackdown/ECW house show results from Portland, ME: Cryme Tyme over The Hart Dynasty; Drew Mcintyre over R-Truth; Vladimir Kozlov & Ezekiel Jackson over Tommy Dreamer & The Hurricane; Melina over Layla; Christian over Zack Ryder; Kane over Finlay; John Morrison over Dolph Ziggler; and CM Punk over Matt Hardy.

Raw is live tonight from Little Rock, AR with Cedric The Entertainer as the guest host. This is Lilian Garcia’s last night after 10 years as ring announcer. I understand some type of send off is planned but not sure whether that would be on or off camera. The Raw crew then head to South America for house shows this week in El Salvador, Guatemala and Mexico.

The Smackdown/ECW tapings are Tuesday in Tulsa with Big Show vs. Batista and Christian vs. Zach Ryder for the ECW title. The crew then fly out to Europe for house shows in France and Spain.

We’re looking for reader reports from all of the above shows to [email protected].

Just a quick note to thank anyone who has donated through PayPal
(http://tinyurl.com/cadmvm) in the last few months. I am proud of Wrestling Globe and would like to think that you won’t find a more comprehensive daily pro wrestling news report any where else.

WWE is talking to Kanye West’s people about coming in to guest host an upcoming edition of Raw. I assume they want to capitalise on publicity from his outburst last week at the VMAs. There is a report making the rounds that Kanye was offered $10 million to work two TVs and a PPV but that report is way off.

An update on former WWE/WCW wrestler Perry Saturn who has been MIA for years and pretty much cut ties with everyone in the business. He is living in Minnesota and working for a door manufacturing company. We’re told he has lost so much weight to the point he is barely unrecognisable from his wrestling days. We’re also told he has been sober for over a year after struggling with various demons.

Regarding Montreal-based wrestler Tomassino (Jonathan Boivin) signing a developmental deal, there is a report at http://tinyurl.com/m33udo which says he was not offered a contract. The confusion came when an indy group he worked for in Quebec posted in French that he was hopeful of a deal but the post was incorrectly translated. Tomassino was backstage Breaking Point with Sylvain Grenier, who was translating for him, as he speaks very little English. He was originally scouted and brought in by Pat Paterson. WWE were impressed by his size, legit 6-8 280, and he is under consideration but wouldn’t be available until next year due to the processing of a work visa.

Slam Wrestling at http://tinyurl.com/lf9oce has a story on John Cena where he defends the move to TV-PG: “When you go up and up and up in the ratings charts, from PG to PG-13 to R to NC-17, you really pigeonhole yourself as far as the number of eyes that can see your programming. I think now, with the success of the Attitude era in the late ’90s, and now, here we are 10 years from that, I think the Attitude era has had their children and now they want to enjoy the same experiences and the same fantastic events that they watched in the ’90s, but they want to be able to have their kids enjoy it with them. So I think it was the absolute correct move.”

Memphis-based indy wrestlers Dustin Starr and Austin Lane have tryouts this week.

The episode of Iron Chef: America with Batista aired today on The Food Network . He was one of guest the judges and had to eat snails.

The house show at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, NY on December 30 will be a tri-branded supershow. Tickets go on sale October 17.

Superstars on 9/17 did a 0.7 rating.

Arn Anderson, Howard Finkel and R-Truth are doing meets and greats before the FCW TV taping on Thursday. Tickets are $10. The FCW Arena is located at: 4535 South Dale Mabry, Tampa, FL 33611.

FCW are holding evaluation clinics December 4 – 7 including in-ring training, matches, promo practice, critiques, and guest speakers. More info at www.fcwwrestling.com.

A correction from yesterday’s update. The Raw TV next week with Rev. Al Sharpton as guest host is actually in Albany, NY.

And just for fun, Sen. Chris Dodd responds to Linda McMahon at http://tinyurl.com/kub2r5.

Lacey Von Erich is coming in and likely joining The Beautiful People, or
at least that was the plan as of the weekend. She is the daughter of
Kerry Von Erich who was previously in WWE developmental. She is also
part of the Wrestlicious group (www.wrestlicious.com) as well as the
upcoming Hulkamania Tour in Australia.

Ed Ferrera started back with the company yesterday at the PPV. He was
assigned to work on pre-tape segments and will likely end up alongside
Vince Russo, Matt Conway and Jeremy Borash on the creative team. There
are also several others offering creative input right now. Jeff Jarrett
was not at the show.

Shannon Moore and Larry Zbyszko were spotted backstage at the PPV. Moore
is looking at returning to wrestling either with TNA or WWE after
recently getting married and setting up his business, a tattoo place
called Gas Chamber Ink in Southern Pines, NC.

Impact last Thursday on Spike was back up to a 1.2 rating.

Traci Brooks talks her Playboy pictorial at www.feelthepain.net. She
confirmed what we reported here that she was bumped from November cover
for Farrah Fawcett. On Angelina Love and her visa issues she said she
doesn’t understand what went wrong noting that the TNA office always
sent her forms in advance when it came time to renew her visa.

A house show has been added in Rio Rancho, New Mexico on October 30 at
the Santa Ana Star Center. A show was also added in Murray, Kentucky on
November 6 at the Regional Special Events Center.
