  3. M.V.D. – Week Of 1/13/12

M.V.D. – Most Valuable Diva” is a weekly column where a WWE Diva or TNA Knockout is named the Most Valuable Diva of the Week based on their overall performance. The divas/knockouts that compete in matches and/or take part in segments automatically get nominated for Most Valuable Diva.

This week’s nominees for M.V.D. are:

Kaitlyn: On RAW’s 20th anniversary, Kaitlyn finally got her fairytale moment. In her hometown of Houston,Texas, Kaitlyn defeated her rival Eve for the Divas Championship. For months, Kaitlyn kept getting screwed by Eve. This time, however, she got one over on Eve. Kaitlyn tricked Eve into thinking she was still outside the ring. Once Eve turned around, Kaitlyn nailed a sharp spear on her to win her first-ever Divas Championship. Kaitlyn also picked up a victory against Aksana on Smackdown.

Eve: This past Monday on RAW’s 20th anniversary, Eve competed in her final match for the WWE. Eve looked to walk away from WWE as Divas Champion. However, Kaitlyn had other plans. After an “unfair” stipulation was placed for the match, Eve was in jeopardy of losing the title. During the match, Eve looked as though she was going to retain her title, but after being tricked into thinking Kaitlyn was still outside the ring, she was taken down by a sharp spear and lost her final match with WWE. Although she lost her last match, Eve put on a great match, and she walked away from the WWE with a memorable career. She also currently has held the Divas Championship 3 times, more times than any other diva.

Gail Kim: This past Sunday at Genesis, Gail Kim looked to win the Knockouts Gauntlet Match to become the #1 contender for the Knockouts Championship. Gail Kim dominated the gauntlet in the beginning, eliminating Brook Tessmacher, ODB, and Mickie James. When Velvet Sky came into the match, things changed for Gail. After getting hit with the In Yo Face, Gail lost the match in controversial fashion because referee Taryn Terrell didn’t see that Gail Kim’s foot was under the bottom rope. Luckily, Gail Kim earned a rematch, but even after Taryn kept a closer eye, Velvet Sky still defeated Gail.

Velvet Sky: At Genesis, Velvet Sky entered the gauntlet match last as she looked to become the #1 contender for the Knockouts Championship. After hitting Gail Kim with the In Yo Face, Velvet won the match, but in controversial fashion because referee Taryn Terrell didn’t see that Gail Kim’s foot was under the bottom rope. Due to the controversy, Velvet Sky had to defend her #1 contendership against Gail Kim. Although Taryn kept a closer eye on the match, Velvet was able to retain her #1 contendership.

Aksana: Aksana looked to give Kaitlyn her first loss since winning the Divas Championship on Smackdown. However, after getting hit with a spear, Aksana was on the losing end instead.

Brooke Hogan: Brooke Hogan’s marriage to Bully Ray took place. However, just like every wrestling wedding, her wedding turned out bad! After being interrupted by Taz, who revealed he’s a member of Aces & 8’s, and Aces & 8’s, a huge brawl broke out between them and the TNA roster.

AJ: AJ’s so crazy, she decided to climb to the top of the cage during Dolph Ziggler‘s steel cage match against John Cena. We don’t know what her intentions were of doing this, but whatever they were going to be, we know it was going to be something…CRAZY!

This week, we have TWO MVDs.

This week’s MVDs are…

Kaitlyn and Eve!

For the second week in a row, Kaitlyn and Eve are the MVDs. Kaitlyn FINALLY got one over on Eve by winning her first-ever Divas Championship. It’s been a long while since we’ve seen WWE invested in a divas feud, and it felt so great to see WWE give us diva fans a feud between Eve and Kaitlyn. Thank you WWE. Also, although she lost her last match, Eve put on a great final match. It’s sad to know that she’s gone from WWE, but she’ll never be forgotten. Eve grew into a great in-ring competitor. So, thank you Eve for entertaining us diva fans over the years. With Eve gone and Kaitlyn the new Divas Champion, it’s time for the girls to step their game up! By the way, the Kaitlyn vs. Eve match had the biggest viewership gain and scored a rating of a 3.33 according to divadirt.com. So great job to Kaitlyn and Eve for that as well.

Come back next week to see who will be M.V.D. of the week. Thanks for reading!
