  3. M.V.D. – Week Of 12/9/12

“M.V.D. – Most Valuable Diva” is a weekly column where a WWE Diva or TNA Knockout is named the Most Valuable Diva of the Week based on their overall performance. The divas/knockouts that compete in matches and/or take part in segments automatically get nominated for Most Valuable Diva.

This week’s nominees for M.V.D. are:

Tara: Tara defended her Knockouts Championship at Final Resolution against the returning Mickie James. We witnessed some great back and forth action between the rivals, but in the end, it was a distraction from Jesse that helped Tara win the match and retain her title. On Thursday’s Impact Wrestling, Tara tries to give Knockouts Executive Brooke Hogan her input on who she thinks deserves a shot at her Knockouts Championship next week on Championship Thursday, but ends up being insulted by Brooke and told that she’ll find out next week who she’ll face. Tara also accompanied Jesse during his main event match against Bully Ray. Tara came in the ring at one point and tried to stop Bully Ray from beating up Jesse even more than he already had, but she gets sent out of the ring after a smack to the butt. Tara gets revenge by slapping Bully Ray.

Mickie James: Mickie James put up a great fight at Final Resolution as she looked to recapture the Knockouts Championship from Tara. Although Mickie looked as though she was going to walk away as the new Knockouts Champion, the many distractions of Jesse proved to be her weakness, and she lost the match. On Thursday’s Impact, a promo of Mickie being frustrated about losing her match at Final Resolution left us all wondering if things between her and Tara are over or not.

Alicia Fox: Alicia Fox faced off against Eve on Monday Night Raw. Although she lost the match and was embarrassed when Eve decided to hold a photo op after the match, the Foxy Diva put on a great match and showed off some great offense as well.

Eve: After being out of action for a week due to an elbow injury, the current Divas Champion made her return to RAW and faced Alicia Fox. Despite her elbow injury, Eve won the match and decided to have a photo op to embarrass Alicia and show off.

AJ: AJ was excited on RAW when it was announced that her and Vickie Guerrero were going to face each other in a match. She was so excited, she talked to Aksana and Kaitlyn about it. She even decided to barge into the men’s locker room to tell a disturbed John Cena about it. Both AJ and Vickie were standing in the ring waiting for a referee, and out comes the most hated referee, Brad Maddox. The match consisted of hair pulling, choking, spearing, punches, and catfights. AJ had Vickie covered, but Brad didn’t count the pin. A frustrated AJ turns her attention to him, and Vickie rolls AJ up for the win. After the match, AJ throws a temper tantrum. She throws everything in sight and slaps poor Justin Roberts.

Vickie Guerrero: Vickie tried to put AJ into a handicap match, but Mr.McMahon decides to make it monumental and announces AJ vs. Vickie Guerrero. Mr.McMahon also tricks her into putting Dolph Ziggler in a match against Sheamus. Both AJ and Vickie were standing in the ring waiting for a referee, and out comes the most hated referee, Brad Maddox. Vickie controlled the match early on, but the resident Geek Goddess/Crazy Chick makes a comeback. AJ had Vickie covered, but Brad didn’t count the pin. A frustrated AJ turns her attention to him, and Vickie rolls AJ up for the win.

Velvet Sky: Velvet Sky competed in her first match since returning to TNA against Madison Rayne. Before her match, Velvet talks about how great it feels to be back, her focus on winning back the Knockouts Championship, and she’s ready to Let The Pigeons Loose! With new gear and a brand new attitude, Velvet Sky defeated her former Beautiful People partner.

Madison Rayne: It’s been a little while since we’ve last seen The Queen B Madison Rayne compete in a match on Impact. Madison was looking to make Velvet’s comeback hell, but her plans were ruined, and she lost against her former Beautiful People partner.

Aksana: Aksana faced off against Kaitlyn on Smackdown. She controlled most of the match after keeping Kaitlyn locked in a headlock for about an hour(I’m exaggerating, but seriously, it seemed like it was that long). Unfortunately, the headlock wasn’t enough to get the win, and Aksana suffered a loss against the Hybrid Diva. By the way, does Aksana know how to do a move other than a headlock?!

Kaitlyn: Kaitlyn had her sights set on getting revenge against Aksana on Smackdown. After being locked into a headlock for what felt like hours, the Hybrid Diva made a comeback and picked up the win.

Natalya: Natalya accompanied The Great Khali during his 8-man tag match. Natalya ran over and slapped Rosa Mendes in the face after she slapped her real-life boyfriend Tyson Kidd in the face. No one messes with Natalya’s man!

Rosa Mendes: Rosa accompanied Epico & Primo during their 8-man tag match. During the match, Rosa slapped Tyson Kidd in the face. Things didn’t end well for Rosa though because she was on the receiving end of a slap from Natalya.

This week’s M.V.D. is…

Alicia Fox!

For some reason, out of all of this week’s diva/knockout performances, I was most impressed with Alicia’s. Why? Because her offense during her match against Eve was on point. She executed every move to perfection. I feel that she’s one of the most underrated divas on the roster. I’m not taking away anything from Tara and Mickie James because their match at Final Resolution was great, however, Alicia’s performance stood out to me more.

Reminder: Don’t forget to tune into this week’s TLC preshow because the divas will be facing off in a battle royal to determine who will be the #1 contender for the Divas Championship. Plus, Naomi and Cameron will be competing in that battle royal as well. About time Naomi gets to compete in a match.

Come back next week to see who will be M.V.D. of the week. Thanks for reading!
