Chris Palmtag: ted king kong cox was my great uncle.as a boy i spent two weeks of my summer vac with him and my aunt iris.he was long retired from wrestling but still was loud and larger than life. he worked at the stockton ymca and told everyone there i was his grandson.i had free run of the place cuz iwas king kong cox grandson. iwas around 8 or 9.my uncle ted had a heart of gold and all the kids in the neighborhood loved to listen to his mat war stories. iheard them over a million times and could have heard them from him a billion more.i loved my uncle ted very much.he was born on may 8 1902 at crazy woman creek wyoming according to him.he passed awaysep of 76.he was known as bulldog cox the masked marvel as well as king kong.as the masked marvel he wonthe toronto world title on june 9 1938. he lost it onsept 29 1938 to mayes mclain.on jan of 1939 he won it again this time as king king cox.on august 31 1945 he won the nwa texas state championship from buddy rogers. then again on august16 1946 from dave levin.he was trained by ed strangler lewis. his holds were the diamond head twist and the cobra clutch. and also justbite kick and pound the hell out of his opponent.he was married once to iris cox had two children stanton and barbara.toured in australia and new zealand in 1938 and 39 . and always sold out his events cuz he knew how to give the crowd there monies worth .he was my favorite uncle and i miss him much.i can still hear his voice roaring about how no man could lick him and no man was tougher .thanks sincerly chris palmtag.
