TNA iMPACT

Location: Orlando, Florida (Universal Studios)
Date: October 8, 2009 (Taped: October 5)

IN THE RING
Abyss + Mick Foley + Dr. Stevie & Daffney + Lauren Brooke + Matt Morgan: Abyss started the show wrapping the ring with barbed wire and dumping bags of glass and tacks out in the middle of the ring – just so he could “feel comfortable.” Abyss said Mick Foley has wrestled all over the world and bled on every continent on this planet, but he’s never bled like he’s (Abyss) going to make him (Foley) bleed at Bound For Glory. Abyss challenged Foley to a Monster’s Ball match at Bound For Glory. Mick Foley came out and addressed the challenge, but Abyss just yelled at him some more about being called a “cheap carbon copy” last week. Abyss asked if it was a cheap carbon copy when he main evented the first Lockdown PPV against A.J. Styles and blew the roof off the iMPACT Zone, or when he competed with Sabu in the first ever barbed wire massacre match, getting 122 sitches and earned TNA match of the year? Abyss asked if he was a cheap knockoff in 2007 when he defeated Sting to become TNA World Heavyweight champion? Abyss said when he was bleeding, Foley was off writing children’s books and playing with sock puppets. Abyss said Foley was right, there is a big difference between them – saying he was HARDCORE, and Foley used to be. Abyss called Foley a cheap knockoff because he was only half the man he used to be! Foley said he never said Abyss wasn’t hardcore, and did say Abyss would be a major star for a long time. Foley banned the $50,000 bounty on the head of Abyss. Foley said they would find out at Bound For Glory if he was half the man he used to be. Foley told Abyss to bring his A-game because he, sure as hell, is bringing his! BANG! BANG!! Foley left the ring and then said he was going to tweak the Monster’s Ball match, and added a stipulation that Abyss cannot use thumbtacks. Foley also said this special Monster’s Ball will require a special guest referee, and named Dr. Stevie! Dr. Stevie w/Daffney came out and shook hands with Mick Foley. Dr. Stevie walked to the ring and said history is repeating itself. Dr. Stevie said nobody cares about Abyss, and even his mother never loved him. Lauren Brooke came out to console Abyss and pull him from the ring. Stevie called Lauren a “$20 a night street walker.” Abyss got back in the ring and asked Stevie to repeate it, so he did. Abyss picked up Stevie for a choke but Daffney low-blowed him! Foley got in the ring and ripped Abyss’s forhead with the barbed wire bat until Matt Morgan ran out to chase the heels away! They acknowledged that Abyss and Morgan were former tag team partners, but failed to mention that they broke up and had a brutal hardcore feud. That’s TNA for ya!

BACKSTAGE INTERVIEW
Jeremy Borash & World Elite (Eric Young & Sheik Abdul Bashir & Kiyoshi & Homicide & Brutus Magnus & Doug Williams & Rob Terry): Jeremy Borash said the honeymoon was over between the World Elite and the Main Event Mafia was over. Eric Young said the war was already over, and declared a victory for the World Elite over the Mafia. Young asked how many times the Mafia fell and the Elite came to the rescue – but the Mafia never showed appreciation. Young said last week was the final straw, and proved that they were the most dominant force in TNA. Young said Hernandez was dead to the World Elite, and they would never be in the ring together because Hernandez wasn’t in their league.

BACKSTAGE INTERVIEW
Jeremy Borash & The Main Event Mafia (Kurt Angle & Samoa Joe & Scott Steiner & Booker T w/Sharmell): Jeremy Borash told Kurt Angle what the World Elite said about declaring victory over them. Angle told the Mafia members that any man who takes out Eric Young will receive $30,000 – and that is how you win wars! Kevin Nash was not there.

TNA LEGENDS TITLE MATCH
Hernandez defeated TNA Legend’s champion Kevin Nash by DQ: Hernandez was in control, and Eric Young ran in and clipped his knee for the disqualification. Young gave Hernandez a Pile-driver, and picked up the Legend’s title. Young gave Kevin Nash his championship belt and told him “you owe me!”

BACKSTAGE SEGMENT
Abyss & Matt Morgan: Abyss caught up with Matt Morgan and thanked him for helping him earlier. Abyss asked Morgan if he could trust him tonight, and Morgan said for only one night he can trust him – but they wouldn’t go down the road they already went down…

BACKSTAGE SEGMENT
Eric Young & Kevin Nash: Kevin Nash asked Eric Young if, after last week, it was smart for him to be hanging around him. Young said he knows what makes Nash tick; money and information. Young said Nash’s leader, Kurt Angle, has put a hit out on him for $30,000. Nash asked what would stop him from snapping Young’s neck and cashing in on the $30,000. Young said he would double it, and all he asks is that Nash return the favor that he just gave him. Young said he is facing Hernandez at Bound For Glory, and suggested they make it a threeway with Nash and put the Legend’s title on the line. Young said they would work together to take out Hernandez. For some reason, Nash thought that was a good idea, and agreed to the match.

TNA X-DIVISION TITLE MATCH
Amazing Red defeated Samoa Joe to win the TNA X-Division title: Midway through the match, Bobby Lashley came to ringside and repeatedly distracted Samoa Joe. Joe wanted Lashley in the ring, so referee Earl Hebner inexplicably allowed it. Lashley pounded Joe and left him laying, so Red could hit a couple moves and score the upset victory to capture the X-Division championship!

BACKSTAGE INTERVIEW
Lauren Brooke & Samoa Joe: Samoa Joe was pissed off and screamed a promo on Bobby Lashley. Joe declared war and promised that Lashley would not survive!

TAG TEAM MATCH
Homicide & Pope D’Angelo Dinero defeated Christopher Daniels & SUICIDE: They announced that Homicide had been fined for saying explicit things in Spanish in weeks past. Midway through the match, Homicide ran over to the Spanish announce table and beat up Willie Urbina. I thought this was just another confusing aspect of TNA storyline, until Mike Tenay explained that Homicide thought Willie was the one who snitched on him about what he was saying in Spanish.

BACKSTAGE SEGMENT
Jeremy Borash & The Main Event Mafia (Kurt Angle & Kevin Nash): Kurt Angle asked Kevin Nash why Eric Young was still walking. Nash said Young offered him double what Angle offered him. Angle said it was about loyalty to the Mafia. Nash said he offered DOUBLE the money, what was he supposed to do. Angle stormed off and Nash said Angle should offer him at least triple..

IN THE RING (CONTRACT SIGNING)
Mike Tenay & Earl Hebner and The Main Event Mafia) Scott Steiner & Booker T) and Team 3-D (Brothers Ray & Devon) and Beer Money Inc. (Robert Roode & James Storm) and The British Invasion (Brutus Magnus & Doug Williams w/Rob Terry): They signed a contract to compete for both the TNA Tag Team and IWGP Tag Team titles in a 4-WAY Ladder match at Bound For Glory. Before the ink was try, a brawl broke out. Booker T was laid out on a table and Robert Roode climbed a ladder. Sharmell jumped in the ring and tried to pull Booker T to safety. Rob Terry jumped in and pushed the ladder over, sending Roode crashing down to the mat. More sensless brawling. Booker & Steiner put Brother Devon through the table and started celebrating with the IWGP tag team titles. The British Invasion (IWGP champions) attacked the Mafia from behind and gave them a 3-on-2 beatdown. The British Invasion celebrated with both the TNA and IWGP tag team title belts..

EIGHT KNOCKOUT ELIMINATION TAG TEAM MATCH
Velvet Sky & Madison Rayne & Alissa Flash & Traci Brooks defeated Taylor Wilde (Canada) & Sarita (Mexico, well actually Canada) & Christy Hemme (USA) & Hamada (Japan): Traci eliminated Christy (to get her win back from last week). Alissa and Hamada were eliminated by double countout. Velvet eliminated Taylor. Sarita eliminated Traci. Sarita eliminated Velvet. Madison eliminated Sarita with help from Lacey Von Erich (who had not been seen or mentioned). Madison Rayne was the SOLE Survivor!

BACKSTAGE SEGMENT
Mick Foley & Kurt Angle: Mick Foley was playing with his barbed wire bat, and Kurt Angle wanted to make sure there would be no games tonight.

BACKSTAGE SEGMENT
Abyss & Matt Morgan: Preparing for their match.

IN THE RING
Sting + Kurt Angle: Sting said he thought very seriously about some of the things A.J. Styles said to him last week. Sting said Styles reminded him how many times he told A.J. it’s not worth lacing up the boots if you’re not the best. Sting said he believes that, and it doesn’t matter if you’re 20 years old or 50. Sting said for 22 years every time he stepped in the ring he brought his best. Sting said sometimes his best wasn’t good enough, but he brought his best. Sting said he took A.J. up on his offer because it is in his veins and he still has the will to win. Sting said at Bound for Glory in California, he will lace his boots up one more time, and he’s going to bring his best. Sting said if the question is answered with anything less than his expectations then it will be showtime for the last time! Sting started to leave and Kurt Angle came out to taunt him about retiring. Angle said maybe Sting should have retired before No Surrender, after he and A.J. pulled off the scam. Angle said Sting handed A.J. the World title at No Surrender and A.J. handed Sting a title shot at Bound For Glory. Angle said they should change the name of iMPACT to The View so that Sting and A.J. can kiss each other’s asses for two hours. Angle said Styles thinks he is just going to go away, but he’s not going to go away. Angle said to be the best, you have to beat Kurt Angle 1-2-3 in the middle of the ring – the whole damn world knows it. Angle asked Sting to everybody a favor and retire before Bound For Glory, so that a REAL CHAMPION can step up to the main event instead of some washed up has-been. Sting challenged Angle to retire him right now! Sting shoved Angle and they went nose to nose before TNA security got between them. Angle turned to leave the ring, so Sting turned his back – but Angle ran over and attacked Sting from behind, putting him in the Anklelock until A.J. Styles made the save! Angle said Styles can have Sting at Bound For Glory because his schedule is full that night. Angle said he wanted Styles next week, and A.J. foolishly accepted the challenge (three days before Bound For Glory). A.J. said they would settle it one way or another.

BACKSTAGE INTERVIEW
Lauren Brooke & TNA World Heavyweight champion A.J. Styles: A.J. Styles said he wasn’t thrilled about how he won the TNA World title from Kurt Angle so he has a lot to prove to himself next week against Kurt Angle.

ON STAGE: The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) introduced a new highlight video with their new entrance music.. The video was cut short because Samoa Joe attacked the Machine Guns from behind. Bobby Lashley showed up and fought with Joe all over the iMPACT Zone. Joe kicked Lashley between the legs to gain an advantage. Joe set up Lashly on a desk and climbed up a scaffold. Joe jumped off and crashed Lashley through the desk and off the stage as well!

NON (TNA KNOCKOUT) TITLE MATCH
TNA Knockout champion ODB defeated Tara: Midway through the match, Awesome Kong walked down to ringside with a sledgehammer. Kong grabbed So-Cal Val and ordered her to put Tara’s taratula on the floor. Kong prepared to bash the spider, but Tara stopped her. ODB used the distraction and scored the victory over Tara!

TAG TEAM MAIN EVENT
Abyss & Matt Morgan defeated Kurt Angle & Mick Foley: Mick Foley brought Dr. Stevie (in a referee shirt) & Daffney out with him but referee Slick Johnson sent them backstage before the match! Foley snuck a barbed wire bat to ringside and hid it under the ring.
