WWE Monday Night RAW 09 08 2008

September 8, 2008 – Fort Wayne, Indiana
Announcers: Michael Cole & Jerry “The King” Lawler

DARK MATCH: Jake Hager defeated D-Lo Brown..

NEW World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho: Chris Jericho gloated about seizing a huge opportunity at Unforgiven and capturing the World Heavyweight title in the Championship Scramble. Jericho addressed his match with Shawn Michaels, showing off the scars that this “good person” inflicted on him in their non-santioned match. Jericho said Michaels mauled him and all of the people savoured it. Jericho said Michaels may have won the match, but it was a non-sanctioned match so he didn’t really accomplish anything. Jericho picked up his World Heavyweight title and said, “what did I accomplish last night? THIS!” Jericho said six months ago good things happen to good people, and HE is a GOOD PERSON! Jericho said the fans will be forced to recognized just how good he is now. Jericho said he was NOT Shawn Michaels, he was BETTER, and he’s also the World champion! Jericho was really rubbing it in at this point. RAW General Manager came out and explained that C.M. Punk had a concussion last night and was not medically cleared to compete. Adamle said Jericho answered the call, but the fact is Punk lost the title without having a chance to defend it. Adamle said next week LIVE on RAW, C.M. Punk will be given a chance to regain the World Heavyweight title. C.M. Punk vs. Chris Jericho inside of a 15-foot high steel cage! Jericho was confident that he would defeat Punk next week, and was perfectly happy to take the rest of the night off. Adamle booked Jericho against Batista tonight in a Non-title match!

Beth Phoenix defeated Mickie James to retain the WWE Women’s title: Candice Michelle joined Michael Cole & Jerry Lawler on commentary for the match, and they announced that she would face the winner of this match at Cyber Sunday for the WWE Women’s title.

Jamie Noble & Layla El + Jillian Hall: Jamie Noble said having Layla El at ringside was like having his own lucky charm. Layla admitted that she was impressed last week and has to say it was a big surprise. Jillian Hall showed up singing “Layla” by Eric Clapton until Noble told her to get lost and wanted her five bucks back. Noble said after he beats the tar out of Regal he’s taking Layla out on the town!

“King of the Ring” William Regal defeated Jamie Noble w/Layla El: After William Regal destroyed Jamie Noble, he asked for the microphone and said “what did you expect Noble, happy endings only happen in fairy tales.” Regal then walked over to Layla El and extended his arm to her. Layla stood up and walked out with King Regal, looking over her shoulder concerned for Jamie Noble in the ring.

Charlie Haas (as Charles Haas Layfield) defeated John Bradshaw Layfield by Countout: After JBL made his entrance to the ring via his white stretch limosine, we heard a voice yelling “hey let me out of here, I’m in the trunk!” JBL’s driver walked back and opened the trunk, and Charlie Haas jumped out dressed like JBL! Charlie Haas introduced himself as Charles Haas Layfield and did a hilarious impression of JBL as he walked to the ring. This Charlie Haas stuff the past few weeks is really funny. JBL was not impressed with being imitated and called Haas a “disrespectful punk.” JBL said Haas will respect him because he deserves it! Haas dropped the impression and good off his gear, starting the match as plain old Charlie Haas. JBL bailed out of the ring and walked out, getting counted out and giving Haas the victory! Haas jumped up and down like he won an Olympic Gold Medal!!

John Bradshaw Layfield + Batista & Kelly Kelly: JBL walked around backstage and found Batista (flirting with Kelly Kelly) laughing at him because of Charlie Haas’ JBL impression. JBL said he and Charlie Haas have nothing in common. Batista said JBL was right, Haas actually won his match tonight.

Todd Grisham & Rey Mysterio: Rey Mysterio said he didn’t know why Kane attacked him. Rey said Kane attacked him with no warning, so he had to take time off and rehab his body. Rey said if he is going to be on RAW he has to stand strong. Rey said Kane claims that Rey is his victim, and that he killed his spirit. Rey said he is standing strong and his spirit is still alive! Rey said he may always be an underdog, but he’s nobody’s victim!

Rey Mysterio & Evan Bourne defeated John Morrison & Mike “The Miz” Mizanin: Mike Adamle was shown sitting with ECW General Manager Theodore Long (with assistent Tiffany) backstage watching the match. Rey Mysterio & Evan Bourne brough classic WCW Cruiserweight wrestling back to the WWE and the crowd ate it up! Hopefully they will bring back the Cruiserweight title and let the Cruiserweights shine again! The finish saw Evan Bourne perform a picture-perfect Shooting Star Press for the win!

Kane: Kane’s came up on the big screen to address Rey Mysterio. “Next week Rey Rey, you will face me, one on one, and at that moment you will begin to understand why, and everyone will understand why, you are a victim. I chose you, and as for the reason why, I’m not going to tell you just yet, but here is a hint, a very special hint.” At which point Kane held up an old red and black Kane mask.

Randy Orton + Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase Jr. & MANU: Randy Orton talked about breaking his collarbone in a match with Triple H leaving him defenseless – unable to retain his title. Orton said he actually earned his championship and won the main event match at WrestleMania, whereas C.M. Punk just got lucky. Orton said that Punk was taken out by a one-armed man. Orton said Punk should thank him because it saved him from being exposed in the Championship Scramble. Orton said Chris Jericho should thank him too, because if it wasn’t for him he wouldn’t have been in the Championship Scramble. Cody Rhodes, Ted DiBiase, and MANU (Afa Jr.) interrupted. My goodness, they are missing the boat by not teaming with Umaga. Cody Rhodes told Randy Orton to check his facts, claiming that they beat Punk down before Orton kicked him in the head. Rhodes told Orton not to take credit for something he didn’t do. MANU spoke (mistake #1) and said Orton isn’t the only wrestler with a Hall of Fame father, and said Orton was no better than any of them. DiBiase said that what they did to C.M. Punk was impressive. Randy Orton hauled off and slapped Ted DiBiase and quickly slipped out of the ring to avoid any attempted revenge.

Ted DiBiase Jr. & Cody Rhodes & MANU defeated Kofi Kingston & Cryme Tyme (Shad Gaspard & JTG):

WWE Intercontinental champion Santino Marella w/Beth Phoenix defeated Gene Snitsky: Santino Marella compared his title reign to the Mountie, who was only champion for two days. Santino asked for his opponent and was shocked when Snitsky came out! Santino miraculously won in a relatively quick match.

Mike Adamle & Kelly Kelly + Chris Jericho: Mike Adamle was defending his decision to put Chris Jericho in the Championship Scramble to Kelly Kelly (why?). Chris Jericho showed up and protested having to wrestle tonight, saying that he should be preparing for his title match with C.M. Punk next week. Mike Adamle wouldn’t budge, and said Jericho’s match with Batista will happen next.

World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho vs. Batista ended in a No Contest: Batista beat the crap out of Chris Jericho. A few minutes into the match, Mike Adamle walked out and ordered the referee to stop the match. Mike Adamle changed the match to a handicap match, Batista vs. Y2J & JBL!

John Bradshaw Layfield & Chris Jericho (w/Lance Cade) defeated Batista: Chris Jericho “snuck in the back door” just like at Unforgiven to steal the pin after John Bradshaw Layfield did all the work. After the match, Lance Cade grabbed Batista and held him up as JBL took cheap shots at him! JBL screamed, “who are you laughing at now?” Batista exploded and fought back against Cade but JBL escaped without punishment.
